Making a Bound Edge Seam 1911 Holster with Milled Leather Liner ASMR Leathercraft

  • In this leather working video I make a 1911 leather cross draw holster with geometric stamp tooling and edge binding. Some may call this a turned edge or a French binding. But since it's a separate piece of leather from the lining it doesn't really qualify as a French binding. I've also switched to using a milled leather for my linings so I can glue and work on them 'flat' instead of having to roll them as in previous videos. I highly recommend this!
Stamps I used on this holster (purchased at ProLeatherCarvers):
SOZO LX2 Geometrics Diamond Lined Pattern Stamp
Barry King - #2 Barker / Veiner Stamp

When I was a kid, in the early 1950s, my mom had a friend, Helen Corwin, who was a leather maker. Helen made everything from gloves and boots to belts, chaps, saddles, bridles, etc. if it was made of leather, she made it. Her trademark was “Corwin Maker.” She worked out of her living room and the house smelled so good!
