The entire budget of this show went into Olmec. They couldn't afford enough wigs.
At 17:09 you can clearly see 3 wigs lying in the "rocks" in the red tower. The 4th wig is in her hand as she's climbing. I'm guessing when she dropped down she landed on one of the wigs and buried it under her feet. That's why it couldn't be found in the "rocks"

They always ask for which way the kid was going to go into the temple. They were giving the temple guards a heads up. As a kid, I always thought they should lie and do the opposite.

I love legends but the temple runs were rigged sometimes because nickelodeon didn’t have enough prizes to give away
Also, they totally asked him his path so that they could plant the temple guard right there. They even made him say it twice just to make sure they screwed him over.

Fun fact: When Double Dare premiered back in 1986, they forgot to put a flag in the first obstacle. They had to reshoot it four times just to have something of substance. So if this really is the debut episode it could be VERY LIKELY there was no fourth wig in the second Temple Game.
This was the seventh episode produced, not the first. The first taped was Blackbeard's Treasure Map, while the first to be completed was Galileo's Cannonball.

This show was one of the hardest nickelodeon shows to beat. The temple was always really unfair to the kids hahaha. They barely gave them enough time and you'd have to win all the semis to have a chance with the pendants. They gave you halves and a full. 3 temple guards. You need full ones to get past the guards. Almost impossible to win lmao.
I'm kind of surprised there hasn't been a modern revival attempt at this show.

They were going to make one for Quibi. Then Quibi shit down, so CW did a revival, and it lasted 13 episodes. Apparently it's on Paramount+

I've never seen a kid run the wrong way immediately and the temple guard tries to block him. Holy shit. That kid on the red team either didn't pay attention, or he watched the show at home thinking "no ones ever tried just running to the room you want to start with"

I always felt like this show is rigged.
The temple run is absolutely rigged. They didn’t have enough budget for prizes if I remember correctly.
They would film 5 episodes in one night by event. So by the time the temple run is filmed, these kids are tired as hell.
There’s a recent interview with Kirk Fogg on CZcams and he said the production only had a budget for 8 grand prizes a season.

Finally! Been waiting for this series with Legends!
Important context: they filmed several episodes all at once, and they filmed each round of all the shows together. So it was a few hours between each round for the teams, waiting for all the other episodes to finish that round as well - and kids messed up in the temple because they'd been there on site for nearly 8-10 hours by that time. The kids are exhausted, so they can't remember instructions or even be able to put three-piece statues together. Naturally rigged game.

24:57 Yeah dude, the Temple is awesome. It’s exactly why Legends of the Hidden Temple beats out Guts for best Nick gameshow. Everyone makes it to the top of the Aggro Crag but only the best make it out of the Temple.
Jimmy and Jake are pretty awesome alone but Joez brings it up a few notches.

I'm so glad we got Legends of the Hidden Temple. Go Purple Parrots! Those Mayan Temple Guards scared the crap out of me though.
There temple run path was actually way faster than what Olmec recommended. Even with how slow they were they could easily made it. Its just that 3 of the 4 rooms they went in had temple guards.

Finally! I've been waiting for a LotHT watchin since the start of GUTS. Used to do a "LotHT Fantasy League" where each person got a randomized team and got points based off performance, just for a reason to go back and watch and root for a team.

What I wanna know is where did the effort go from the beginning of the show for the Red Jags? Like a Honda Civic revving its engine off the driveway and then blowing it out when put into drive.
Love these Watching eps but will we ever get some good audio? Most the time can't here the show at all but the guys can be heard by my neighbors.

So since discovering the Guts stuff, a group of friends and I have been doing draft rules on other Nickelodeon game shows. We've tried Legends of the Hidden Temple, Double Dare, and Nick Arcade and honestly all of them suck in comparison to GUTS. It's a shame to admit it because we all thought the nostalgia would make them fun, but it's true, the entertainment value is just not there.
Yeah joez is right. A taz watch for getting knocked out in first round but a few lollipops for second round. That's a downgrade.

The helmet game, they were constructing the English flag. It definitely matters which way the board where hanging up. Either the kids weren't told that what they're doing, or they just didn't understand.
Apparently this was the quickest loss in the shows history.
This is the perfect clash of my childhood and my adulthood
Temple was my favorite nick game show. Looking at the stats later, there were more winners than I remember. I think they switched at some point from little kids that could barely do any of the obstacles to teenagers for whom they were too easy.
