  • We bought a house earlier this year and we converted a TuffShed garden shed that was already on the property into my dream home office. Follow me on the journey of rehabbing this space and stay to the end to see the entire budget I spent on this project.

It looks beautiful. I’m a year late watching this video.
Quick question. I want a home office / music studio. What is a good size shed for that?

Looks great man! I did the same thing as a DIY. Our projects are pretty similar; ran 50amps of power and Ethernet from the house. The trench took the most time. I also built a walkway over the buried cables. I'm about to do flooring and should be finished by February.

Thank you very much! Yeah there was no way I was digging that trench- good for you!!

    Hey there. Great space.
I’m converting a smaller shed to my own studio. About 70 sq feet with a 6-10’ sloped ceiling.
I wanted to use a mini mainly for how quiet they are..
I’m concerned about using a mini bc of short cycling and confirmed with this the manufacturer. That the 9,000 can be tuned down to 3,000 they don’t recommend using in spaces less than 100sq feet.
I notice you got a 12,000BTU but your space is 120 sq feet. That size mini seems pretty large for that space, unless I’m mistaken
Have you had any issues with it?

It's definitely oversized for the space. It was the smallest DIY one I could find. But yeah it heats and cools the space literally within minutes. I've had this one for 3 years now with daily use and no issues. The one from Mrcool has a "silent" function that I use because it reduces noise and power in a big way. Makes it easier to leave it running most of the day without constantly turning it on or off. Hope that helps. Best of lick with your shed conversion!

$11,000 and I still don't have the shed, I am going to stay in my sleeping room.

Hi I’m looking to build a studio in my shed what size is this shed?

Exterior dimensions are 10' x 12'. Hope that helps!

What rolling tools do you have

    • @JohnScottB

Yukon from Harbor Freight. Very similar to the Husky brand but this one is only 18" deep vs 24" on Husky. That was important because I have a small space. Hope that helps.

Dude you were better off building a new one from scratch lol or buying a pre fab shed and finishing it off yourself.

I looked into it, at the time because of the covid surge on construction materials a new shed was going to be close to $6k then I'd still have to do all the finish and electric work. In the end it worked out for what I needed but a lot more than I intended to spend either way.

You should have started from scratch.. That shed was done like dinner.

    • @JohnScottB
      @JohnScottB  Před 2 lety

I tried but with covid surges on building materials at the time a new shed build was close to $8k on its own. Then I'd still have to finish the inside so this was the cheapest route.
