Agreed! I've saved a fortune by getting the slightly older Mate 10 Pro as well opposed to spending much more on the latest and greatest Mate 20 Pro, which won't be the latest and greatest when Huawei release the Mate 30 Pro in 12 months time!

I just ordered Mate 10 Pro and I'm pretty excited. My current phone is Mate 9 and I love it, but I got a great deal for the Mate 10 Pro that I couldn't resist. Just 399e for the 128gb/6gb version. The reason I decided to upgrade was to get an AMOLED panel again and get rid of that metal back. The metal back can be a bit too much to keep clean and it CAN scratch up which it hasn't done yet. I don't like notch so the latest Huawei phones were out of the question. If they ever release Magic 2 here or any other similar phones I might upgrade again if I sell them both :D and I still have a couple other phones in my drawers, which are not worth much but still. Great video btw! :)
The 10 Pro was updated some while ago and has had Face Unlock (not as secure as 20) and Night Mode for some time now.

@@dale25c no, none at all. The face unlock is stupid fast and works really well. The night shot mode works extremely well, drags light into shots where you think none is available.

As a Mate 10 Pro owner (very satisfied), notch and edge-display are a nogo for me. Notch can be disabled, but the edges on the display of course not. I just hate this kind of display. Never understood, why Samsung came out with this. Will sticke with my Mate 10 Pro.

Indeed. I bought a Mate 10 Pro two weeks ago and the plain screen is one of the things I absolutely love about it! Rounded corners are ok for me, notches not so much, but curved edges are a no no...

My wife and I both upgraded our phone contracts a few weeks ago, going with Mate 10 Pros. I knew that the Mate 20 Pro was going to be released a few weeks later, but I also know that we'd be paying a lot more for our new contracts if we decided to go with the newer phones! Indeed, the Mate 20 Pro is a big step up from the Mate 10 Pro in a number of ways. However, the massive increase in cost didn't justify going with the latest and greatest, especially considering that Huawei will inevitably release a much improved Mate 30 Pro in the next 12 months! I did my research and concluded that the Mate 10 Pro was still a great device at a much cheaper price! I'm currently watching this video on my Mate 10 Pro and couldn't be happier! I'm also looking forward to the Pie upgrade for the Mate 10 Pro.

Mate 10 pro is more fashionable and futuristic when it comes to the design also it's still insanely a fast phone considering we're entering 2019

Wish phones still had great speakers like M8 and even the 10. Would prefer a shock absorbent polymer back rather than glass too, they can still look georgous especially when you have to case all these glassy phones. On that note are there any great cases for the mate20pro maybe 20pro or mate 10 case models that will be updated to m20pro

I got Mate 10 Pro and after trying Mate 20 Pro i must say, that i dont like, how the screen is more narrow and curved. I got feeling, that i am loosing some usable screen surface by the edges. Of course, there is still standard Mate 20, but with much worse screen.
And the speakers? Wich one is better

It is a great device, had mine almost a year now and if anything the Ai has made it speed up and I'm getting to the end of a day with at least 50% battery still. I can't complain about it, except a firmware update stopping me using it as a mobile hot spot, but apart from that its never missed a beat. You'll love it....doesn't stop me being jealous of its new, shiney sibling!

Then you will never be satisfied. The.Mate 10 Pro is still a great phone. I'm still happy with mine. I like the Mate 20 Pro, but next year there will be the next mobile generation that will make you jealous again, while you're watching on your Mate 20 Pro. 😀

Mate 10 Pro: great design and hardware. And no annoying notch. Will be sufficient for at least 2 years.
How's the Vibration on the mate 20? Always felt Huawei stuff is subpar compare to LG Google Samsung.

My mate 10 pro feals as fast and lag free as 9 months ago when i got it, but i still wanna upgrade to mate 20 because i want a better gaming experience and that amaizing camera.

Apart from the CPU, GPU and camera. Performance will be pretty much the same. I'm sure the Mate 10 pro will get the same camera layout and maybe few AI stuff. Other than that my Mate 10 pro is still a beast. Still maxing out 5 and a half to 6hrs screen on time. Maybe May 30 pro in 2019

How do people deal with the screen protector on curved edge? My husband's Samsung, it comes away at edges every few months, the case and screen protector fight for space! This is putting me off the mate 20 Pro, otherwise it's looks amazing spec wise
They can't, that's why I still prefer the mate 10 pro. The curved display really is useless, samsung came out with it just for aesthetical reasons

I think you'll have to get the international version which doesn't come with a warranty though it should work with GSM networks. I've already seen the mate 20 lite on Amazon

I upgraded from the mate 10 pro to the 20 Pro about a week ago. The finger print unlock was better on the 10 pro. Everything else is pretty similar but I hate that it looks and gets mistaken for a Samsung because of the screen.
Is it worth the change or should I change, I'm on the mate 10 pro with the latest updates facial unblock and night mode etc. The only thing that bugs me is the headphones looking to get the freebuds, buy other then that don't see much difference with the mate20 other then the cam, and minor software skin difdrences, should I change?

Mate 10 pro was £549 in the UK last year - yes the new one is better but the best tech this year is so expensive

10 pro is superb.
I bought the Mate 10 Pro last Sept. Excellent. In the end, I just used it as my main camera. Wonderful results. Mine was a bargain at £400.
However, don't drop it. The screen projects out in front of the bumper. Stones crack the glass, even with a gorilla screen protector. The screen is a whopping £200 to replace. (actually found a repair for £120 with some searching). The repair will probably compromise the waterproofing.
So repair or upgrade? Prices are falling. But the P10 is so much better than the phone made by the ubiquitous fruit company.

True, but it still lacks some OIS, the hardware is absent for the primary and wide angle lenses... Imagine how good this phone might be if there was OIS.

The problem for me with the Mate 10 is the autofocus system. It's outdated and its a bit slow for today's high-end standards... Mate 20 series has fast autofocus, thus why it has a better camera experience.
How is that so it is outdated when it has 4 hybrid auto focus with laser assisted auto focus which is lacking in Mate 20 Pro?
@@SuperDominatorX You replied 1 year too late. Now there are better autofocusing technology such as the All Pixel autofocus.. So maybe the Mate 20 Pro's autofocus is not as good as I thought.
@@Unan1mouz Your reply is not valid, define what you mean by outdated autofocus or you do no know what you are talking about. Mate 10 Pro has 4 in 1 auto focus PDAF combined with laser and depth sensors enables fast and precise autofocus.

I've owned several phones that promoted how "amazing" laser autofocus is but it the focus is not always accurate, even in short range... I question the usefulness of that tech. Do you even own a Mate 10 to comment on this matter?

It's a regular face unlock not too secure. Mate 20 has the Apple type face unlock which projects dots on your face to check its actual shape
What's new for Huawei the US ban, I'm so glad I returned my Huawei phone and went with the Samsung Note 9. I still like these phones they just look like they will become a brick real soon. I hope this ends cause I want to get a new mate series along my note 9.
Huawei Us ban doesn't affect any of the existing phones. They will still get Google updates even after the real start of the ban on August. However, any Huawei phone released after August 2019 is affected by the ban.

Elite2B3 so there is P and Mate, P20 pro, Mate 20 pro the pro version is just better of there normal version. Like Xs, Xs max, S9, S9+ but in huawei there more than just screen and battery they add more features to there pro version

Elite2B3 so huawei release new device every summer and fall, ex 2017 fall they released mate 10 (cpu kirin 970) then on 2018 summer they release p 20 pro (cpu kirin) so there phone line up is on Xfall and X+1Summer. They said that P is mostly for nomal user and p series to test new feature to be in next generation mate series. Mate series is mostly for business person or power users who want perfectly tune software and new features. You can compare it to S and Note kinda but in the year they wont use same Kirin cpu

The Mate 20 Pro has better specs in terms of battery life, processor and camera. But damn those ugly edges on a smaller screen. Such a pitty. Prefer the design of the Mate 10 Pro which is my current phone.
