    Got my trap bar today. Unreal. Felt so good. Did 310# for 6 nice and controlled. Not bad for 170lb 50 year old.....what a great tool. So versatile. Love this channel....

    That unevenness is my big problem but I’ll never do conventional deadlift again I’m 48 this is safer for an older person thank you Sir

    Who else thinks Chris should make a 40 yard dash series similar to his 44 inch vert. So for example, he starts at 4.6 and tries to hit a 4.4 or 4.3 something like that

    I just started doing these. Today was week 2. Did 285# for 3 nice and controlled. I'm late 40s so its nice to have a safe deadlift to mix in

    Great info. I say a lot of the same things when coaching my clients on this movement. "Neutral spine" is a phrase I really like... and trying to keep them out of that hip hinge/RDL pattern. I cue from feet up instead of top down though... since foundation of upright movement is those feet ;)
    And really liked that you threw in the sets/reps range you like to use w/ ppl. Very helpful.

      I also have low back problems, turns out its mostly my quadratus lumborum. I've done lacrosse ball massages & stretching but i still had back problems. Until i started doing pallof press with resistance band. Maybe that'll help

      yeah man im 6"9 i do lunges and bar stiff deadlift i just got to a gym where they have trap bars but its a different movement than rdl/stiffs.and i even feel more work on the back than on my hamstrings
      i think ima need them blocks

    Yeah, I definitely have a tendency to tall man deadlift a trap bar. Never really thought about doing them on blocks, even though I have seen it done before, and may work those in as I've been having some nerve issues when it comes to actual squat patterns that doesn't occur from my bend pattern lifts yet really would like to get some minimal activation of my quads going in the meantime.

    Good stuff Chris. Can you go more in depth on Box squats. I wanna implement them into my routine as I've only used the trap bar so far. I guess specifically how high the box should be, how much weight you should transfer onto it, basics such as high bar vs low bar etc.

      neal khosla I agree. More in depth would be dope. I do 20in height box squats rn. Try my best to go kinda slow down then tap and explode. Don’t know if that’s optimal

      Ye would also love for you to coach box squats, but more for the speed : resistance ratio. As in should you focus on skyrocketing with lower weight or loading it up fully? Thanks.

      The box should be above parallel squat, and you should put all your weight on the box and lean back a bit, when you lean forward and put all the weight on your feet, explode up.

    I like the trap bar routines. Less off balance than regular deadlifts

      Way easier to get in more frequently and volume. Unless someone is competing in weightlifting, the standard DL is not a requirement.

      Id definitely incorporate some romanian deadlifts to strengthen your lower back with the constant tension without the sheer weight from the conventional deadlift

    hey man i have really bad ankle mobility and hip tightness. I used to hit 10 plates w/ hip hinge until a guy in marsoc informed me about my form. Im loosing my cool trying to correct my form. Any suggestions?

    What you're coaching there with the string on the top of the head theory is the hex bar squat, you actually want the hip hinge foe hex bar deadlift, two completely different movements

      Justin Bloomer thats way above average strength man well done... joe defranco uses the trap bar deadlift as a good indicator of sprint speed... he says the very fastest guys generally pull 2.5 - 3 times there bodyweight so youre not far off

      Nothing wrong! The more upright ( chest up hips down) you are the more you will feel this movement in the quads. If your back starting position is more angled forward with the hips starting slightly higher you will feel it more in your glutes and hamstrings.

      @@Adrik808 Correct, it is still more of a hip hinge than sumo deadlifts. As you get stronger and add more weight, the posterior chain will get worked alot too.

    Dear Chris, your tittle is incorrect. In the video your athlete is moving with a knee dominant pattern, which makes it a squat. If you want it to be a Deadlift the hips should be more dominant.

      The trap bar deadlift involves just more knee movement than the conventional deadlift but the primary mover should still be the hip.
      I dont see this athelete beeing more knee than hip dominant in this video.

    Wrong. Turn that #TrapBar upside down so you can use the lower handles and use more smaller diameter plates, then you can perform fuller, lower reps. #HopeThisHelps 👍😉
