- We stumbled upon the Reading & Northern F Units in Outer Station while out railfanning one Saturday at the end of May 2021 shortly after catching freight train NRFF at Mohrsville. It turns out, it was a private trip for CEO Andy Muller Jr and guests to head to dinner at the Tamaqua Station Restaurant. The former Reading Railroad station was fully restored by 2004 and is featured in the Spring 2023 US Postal Service Railroad Station stamp sheet collection - get yours today!
Don't forgot to check out the video on the North Reading Fast Freight we chased the very same weekend: • Fast Freight Service o...
Thanks for watching!

Excellent production! Glad to see someone getting out there to many of my old haunts.
Thanks! That means a ton coming from you, I use a lot of your videos as reference.
@@CentralPennRailProductions Can you please make a jointed rail compilation?
it was a scene right out of the 50s and 60s with the RDCs and the F units.
Right? Where else but on the R&N!
Beautiful footage! How lucky to catch that old F unit! =)
Thanks!
Beautiful train 😊
What a beautiful train. Great video, thanks.
Really enjoyed this video.
Cool train & the horn sounds soooo good 😊😊
Another great video
Back in the early 1960s .I got to ride a Budd while visiting family in Pa.
Outstanding footage!!! 😉👍🏻🎥💯
I love the RDCs.
Eric. nice video and shots. miss you buddy 😊
Awesome video 😊
Handsome paint scheme on the F Units
I'll be looking for that video soon champ 🫡🤝🚂
The cover wagon units sound nice 😅🙂 !
Fantastic video! The only this that could make this experience better is if the A unit had a Nathan M5 instead of the ubiquitous K5LA, Great job,
Honestly, that K5LA gives #270 character. K5LA’s are overplayed for sure, but it still fits #270 well, ever since its NS days.
If you wanna see an F9A with a Nathan M5, check out the #271.
Those Fs (ex-B&O I hear) have had their noses "botox-ed"--no more nose door and recessed ditch lights. UP's E units got the same treatment.
Nice!
17:51 oh my god that was such a cool shot!
Love these streamlined diesels!
Great video and awesome catches
Wonderful
Nice EMD F units and shot of signal dropping!🛤🚂
Nice one bro!! That must’ve been a very nice trip for the CEO and his family!! But if I may ask, why did they decide to do this? Was it like a relative’s birthday or something? Anyway, I just wanna ask about the maintenance of way that’s been going on in the keystone corridor. Apparently they’re supposed to upgrade all the trackage west of Lancaster station to concrete ties. Is this true and if so, when is this going to be completed?
Why did he do this? Because he can!
True. But he’s not gonna like do it for no reason or just plane fun. He’s gonna do it for a special occasion like maybe one of his family members birthdays, or something like that
I'm not sure why they went to dinner other than it was around Memorial Day. Regarding the Amtrak upgrades, I think it's a multi-year project, but the first phase might be done this year?
@@CentralPennRailProductions O, ok. That could have been a legitimate reason for that. Some people like to go out and eat 4 Memorial Day. And thx 4 the info abt the Amtrak. I visited Eby Chiques Road not too long ago to find main one outta service. I was told that it's gonna be outta service 4 like the next 6 months.
Great vid production. Makes me want to ride!! Subscribed.
Beautiful old Lady
Well, a Roots blown 645 is essentially the same as a 567, only larger, so it's a faithful upgrade, not like say putting a Caterpillar in it
They sound enough like the 567's for me. 🙂
Must be nice to have your own train 🚊
Nice Video
🚂🍁🇮🇳🍁🚂
It’s the K5LA sound of Amtrak all over again on the R&N!
Liked no. 183.
Thanks AC, hope you're doing well.
Is the reading, and northen the child of the reading lines, and isnt there another railroad called reading, and blue mountain? Are those railroads related in anyway? Or does the reading lines go under the name reading, and northern im very confused.
The Reading Railroad is defunct. Reading & Northern = Reading Blue Mountain & Northern = former Blue Mountain & Reading
How did the disabled board trains during this era?
Unsure what you mean by era, considering this was filmed in 2021, but if you are referring to the era of the equipment, most of these trains weren't equipped with the thing's necessary to get people who cant walk, for example, onto trains. They could however use subway and metros systems, as the platforms are level with the doors of the train. Subways have been around longer than you probably think.
They weren't expected to travel. This was pretty much the case up until the 80s (perhaps the staff would make an effort to accommodate them by that time, but hardly anything was designed to be wheelchair friendly)
@@orbitsrailfanvids Yes, I meant back in the days that these were the standard railroad cars. I guess the very rich would have accommodations made for them.
@@AndreiTupolev I guess they were SOL since the ADA act was passed in 1990.
I have seen photos from the 1940's and 50's of conductors and porters carrying passengers onto a train.
An e Bell on an F Unit?
