    I haven't bought a toon top in about 5 years the money saved I will happily pay anything up to £100 for the shirt from the club shop because I know the owners are not skimming off the top, and all of the money goes back into the club. It's not about how much it costs with me even tho like everyone else I'm broke af but for me it's about supporting the team. If it means only buying one shirt the whole season, if it means I don't treat myself to a new Adidas tracksuit because the toon top is the same price then I'm gonna do that because I want to see the club go forward under this ownership who clearly care about the fans and the club but also understand that we need to be making money to compete with the big teams so honestly and I hope every other fan is the same, regardless of price I'm getting if from the club shop. Idc if I'll save 10/20 quid going elsewhere ad rather the extra goes to the club

  • @malcolmholder3149
    @malcolmholder3149 Před měsícem

    The price of the shirts should be fixed and no matter where you buy them from the club makes the same money. Using that argument it should be cheaper at the club shop than at other retailers, but of course it isn't because they guarantee to sell many more than the club shop can so get a discount, which part of which they pass on to their customers. The only way to control the price is to only sell it through the club shop and shop web site.

    It’s good that Ashley won’t be able to sell the shirts, Back in the day I always bought all my shirts from the club shop, but I stopped buying them when Ashley took over. From 2021/22 when we got took over. I tried buying from the club shop. And what a nightmare that turned out to be, wrong sizes, wrong placed name sets. Random name sets added, so tbh I won’t be ordering any shirts from the club shops because they’re simply crap. It’s a total shame that the club shop can’t be way way better then they’re and their customer service is atrocious, so that’s why I’ll be buying all my Adidas shirts from the official Adidas web shop. And because I’m a member, I can get free name sets added. So that’s where I stand on this.

    I'm glad it's not just me thinking thinking how you are. Like you I wait until the prices come down a little, however with this new exclusivity it is unlikely the shirts will not be reduced until the end of 24/25 season.
    Hopefully this will not become a regular occurrence and is a one off.

    I like the fact FCB cannot undercut the clubs price but on the other side its leaving the door open to the new owners will charge what they want. But surely they won't penalise our supporters by hiking the price up. That would alienate fans from the club. Its gonna have to be a fine margin between screwing us over and getting the money into the coffers towards buying players

    Without knowing the deal. I would have thought the JD sports deal will be a timed exclusive. Maybe say exclusive for 3 months. Plus when they initially sell the shirts it will be rrp which would be the case in all shops so Mike saying it’s unfair for fans I balk at. Although devils advocate it may very well be the case that the deal is permanent and the club could charge what they want. But I don’t think it would be sensible of them to price out the fans.

    Rob let’s trust the owners do the right thing and keep the margins at a reasonable level. In this era of ffp etc the club need to maximize the revenues generated by its off field activities and on field performance, if they don’t we as fans will be giving them a hard time soon enough. Price elasticity of demand will ultimately decide on a price point which balances demand with profit. Let’s hope we get a great shirt at a fair price. As for Ashley who the **** is he

  • @johnwhitfield8456
    @johnwhitfield8456 Před měsícem

    Football shirts are a ridiculous price already & JD is an expensive shop. IF this was only a case of pi$$ing off Mike then that’s petty. The only considerations should be selling as many shirts as possible to increase revenue. To do that you cannot sell them at a price point that excludes half the fans. I am sure NUFC have already considered this. It’s about building the global brand. Right, I’m off now to sell what remains of my dirty capitalist sole to the Devil. 😂

    usually, with exclusive deals, the cost of the item would be cheaper than it being sold through a more broad means and it would be dependent on JD (in this case) selling a certain amount of shirts to keep it an exclusive. If they don't make the criteria of selling so many, it would then go on for general sale and wouldn't be bringing in the revenue to JD. JD benefit from it being cheaper. More sales would generate more revenue for them and keep the shirt exclusive

    Devils advocate on why people went to other places than the club shop and buying the shirt at fitness pro or sports direct: Stock.
    We're all aware that Castore has had a huge stock issue every season because they're shit. Adidas should be able to provide a decent amount of stock.
    Second: Quality
    The quality of castore shirts has been shit, meaning people are more likely to want to buy them for less because there's no quality. With Adidas, you're going to get the quality.

    We talk about the cartel that runs the Premier League and yet when it suits, NUFC will hold a monpoly on where you can buy a club shirt. I know the club wants to increase its value, but it also wants to expand the brand to as big an audience as they can, but holding many a parent to a "take it or leave it" blackmail situation in a cost of living crisis is NOT the answer. It just drives customers into the 'knock off' market. If the club shop/online is the only sales channel then it must be with a price that attracts, rather than repels. God knows I detest Cashley with a passion, but its not like he is getting the shirts for nothing!
