- In this snippet recently aired on the ABC in Australia (from Adam Hills stands up live), Adam talks about an interesting experience he has when he orders some pizza's from a pizza shop in regional Victoria.
Apologies that the audio is slightly out of sync

I work at this pizza shop, and the accent is perfect
To his credit, Arthur really deserved that plug. Obviously a nice bloke, and would be great fun to talk to
He definitely got value for money out of that Margarita pizza, garlic bread and drinks
Having met a few guys like Arthur in my life, they wouldn’t even think twice about it, or how it influences future sales. They are just passionate guys.
@@jenbdiamond Still there on the website
@@DoctorQuackenbush Not anymore. Arthur has sold the business to another family.
@@boskeeAw 😢
As someone who live in Bacchus Marsh, Grant St is definitely the best pizza place in town.....
I normally drive Ballarat to Melbourne almost every weekend, often hungry heading home sunday nights. I'll have to check them out.
Me too!! The best!😉
I want to go to Australia specifically to order pizza from this place.
I live 40 minutes away. Just need covid lockdown to end.
@@fionaanderson5796 did you go yet?
@@justalittlealien not recently, but I have realised i have been a couple of times a few years ago. It's not on my usual route, even if I am driving through Bacchus Marsh. They're good pizzas.
I'm just tickled at how the cadence of the Italian immigrant accent is universal. I'm imagining Arthur's words in a strong New York-partly mobster accent and the two accents are like long lost siblings 😂
Arthur's Greek
I used to live in the next town over from Bacchus Marsh and Grant St pizza is awesome! Used to go there after soccer games when I was a kid. Memories flooding back
You know, the irony is that since Adam is partly of Maltese descent he IS kinda one of those people he was talking about! LOL. Anyway, super memorable routine and I love that the pizza shop owner put this clip on his website.
update: Arthur just sold the business. wishing him a happy retirement
Still love watching this routine... one of these days I'm going to go to Bacchus Marsh just to buy a pizza. I also love the fact that Grant St Pizza's website actually has this clip on their website. Arthur knows how to capitalise on happy celebrity customers!
refsmithy he actually has a picture of him and Adam Hills in the shop and is absolutely lovely. Arthur gave our son a t-shirt that says ‘my dad knows where to get the best pizza’ on the back. It’s the best pizza I’ve ever had
What a legend
I would go to Australia just to order pizza from that man. Adam Hills is such a great comedian. One of the few who makes me laugh about the wonderful things he's seen and done. An optimistic comedian seems rare.
To me he isn't the most funny comedian ever, there are others that make me laugh more reliably. But his stories are just amazingly uplifting. Joyful as one of his shows is appropriately named. And I'm bloody miffed that the "Dick the Horse" bit isn't a standalone youtube video yet.
nah bacchus marsh is shit
@@a.lferry6185 i wouldn't want to live there. It's turned into outer suburbia instead of the country town i remember from my childhood, but i like a few of the fruit shops on the avenue. Jonesy's have THE best tasting strawberries, but only if you know to ask for the local ones. They're an old variety bred for flavour but don't transport well so almost no one grows them.
It's so cool to see Alex Brooker and Josh Widdicome supporting Adam and having a great time.
Taught his elder son. A good Dad and a good provider. A wonderful role model.
Adam Hill did more to put Bacchus Marsh on the map than Peter Carey.
Come to Bachhus Marsh everyone. It is unique!
I’m thinking Bachus Marsh is in the middle of no where but it’s only 22 mins from me. Going to suss this Pizza joint out.
Had pizza from there last night. Best pizza shop in town.
This is my favourite piece of comedy of all time
I went to Bacchus Marsh when I was in Australia specifically to order a pizza but Grant's was shut for the day :(
I've never been more disappointing in my life.
-“I’m passionate about pizza!”
-“fucking oath he is!”
😂😂😂
"My dad's good at that... *DaAaAaAaAaaAaad!!!* "
Fantastic!!
Brought me into tears. Such a hilarious but also heartwarming story!
Well, I know where I'm going when I go to Australia. I gotta meet Arthur, because I too am passionate about pizza.
+Exhausted Elox makes me wonder what that order would be if it was a pizza party
@@Droopsnooot it'd be six or seven pizzas so you can absolutely stuff yourselves.
I love that they have someone signing on the side
They've been working together for a very long time now. I first saw him live 18 years ago and she was there too. And the first two rows were reserved for people with hearing impairments.
i remember watching this on tv and i am just getting that belly laugh all over again, Adam Hills is so good.
I don't even live in Australia and I STILL want to order pizza from Arthur!
This video always makes me laugh. And I guess Aussies don't have pizza parties that much. But still Arthur's voice and Adam's inflection!!!! Hahahahaha.
@@eiypo definitely a thing when i was at uni in Melbourne in the 90's. Back at uni a few years ago my younger classmates talked about pizza and beer nights, so i guess they still are a thing.
I live in Bacchus Marsh and i think i know this pizza shop, it's called Far West Pizza and he is still owner of it :)
That's actually really cheering to hear :3
It's actually a place called grant pizza place, but yes he is still the owner and they have a website
I live in preston, I'm making the trip
I live in Bacchus too
Grant Pizza Place I can confirm is the pizza shop on Grant street Adam is talking about
Adam Hills is by far the best comedian we have ever had the honor of seeing/hear or what have you. No matter what he talks about, I always leave with a huge grin on my face ;)
Thank god for Adam Hills... hes hillarious!
I love that Adam is very Australian but can work his act into wherever he is. Don’t hat me but that is a true Australian thing to do.... he has class and respect.
ALEX BROOKER AND JOSH WIDDICOMBE ARE IN THE AUDIENCE!!! Brill routine to have watched!
+PhantomUmbie123 I thought I could see them... Thought I must be imagining it.
diamond cut diamond cut hahaha
My cousins live in Bacchus, I'm am going to Arthur's pizza place next time I visit.
I work in the fish and chip shop place next door to that pizza place
that's fuckin awesome!
PLEASE show the guy a clip of this!!!
How does he remember all this? This is fantastic!!
synth on a plinth Trust me, when you meet people like that, you remember.
lunavixen015 I MUST come to Australia some day, it's just such a long damned plane trip.
synth on a plinth If you do come here, just remember one thing for me, please check your shoes before you put them on, no matter where in Australia you stay, our smaller (and a lot of toxic) wildlife love nesting overnight in shoes.
Yikes, thank you for the tip! Proof indeed that Australians have the most gracious hospitality on the planet. :)
synth on a plinth It's more a "if you're good to us, we'll be good to you." Oh and before I forget, if you do come here, watch for drop bears, tourists are their favourite food.
Love, love, love this clip. Hysterical as always!
I wouldn't say Bacchus Marsh is in the middle of nowhere it's just a while away from Greater Melbourne
I do hope Arthur really exists. It would be worth the trip to Bachus Marsh to meet him. (Funny to think that kid is probably all grown up and running the shop by now.) I’ve always had the theory that anyone with a passion, whom most people dismiss as boring, are actually really interesting.
The shop exists. I've had pizza there before. No idea if Arthur is still there.
@Fiona Anderson retired at the end of last year. He IS that man though 😂😂😂
This man deserves a Nobel Prize for Pizza.
Such a REAL story, and funny. I'm sure we've all met "New Australians" like that!
Absolute cracking story!
I live in Bacchus :3 love that pizza guy.
best convo ever
This is the woggiest conversation I ever heard.
I'm crying.
Props to Catherine for not losing it.
I’d love to go to this pizza shop and meet Arthur. It would be an absolute privilege.
As an Aussie, can totally relate to the fits of laughter from the Aussies in the audience because they just know they’ve heard this accent and been served by someone like this in our lifetime! I can’t decide if this is more like the pizza shop owner down the road from me where I grew up, ora character from “Wog Boy”! Either way, it’s 100% legit and I love it!!
6,000 people in Bacchus Marsh and they're all commenting on this video.
Baccuss Marsh is 30 mins from Melbourne. Hardly middle of nowhere.
it's the middle of nowhere hun
Yeah. I pass it on my way home from Melbourne.
When i was a kid family friends of my grandparents' generation had a farm there. We'd go visit in the summer holidays and my father would get the car serviced the week before "such a long trip". Now i do twice that distance most weekends and am doing well if i check the fuel level before leaving Ballarat. Lol.
I know EXACTLY what I want to do if I ever get to Austrailia.
I drive through Bacchus Marsh pretty often. I'll have to see if Arthur is still in Grant Place.
If I'm anywhere near Bacchus Marsh one day I've got to look up that pizza shop.
Deevo037 they're ok. I haven't seen Arthur for a short while though.
I've stopped and got pizza there a few times. A bit out of my way, but they're good.
ha. i've watched this a few(many) times.. have watched it since watched last leg... just realised his 2 co-hosts in audience
LOL Adam is freaking hilarious! And Arthur omg lmao....I will have to watch this several times more to get it out of my system... and by the way... how amazing would it be to have your local pizza guy give a hang the way arthur did?
Quite a lot in Australia will look after their customers like that.
Bacchus Marsh IS NOT in the middle of nowhere. Its less than one hour from Melbourne. Where I live, Alice Springs is the middle of butt fuck nowhere.
I love watching this sketch all these years later, and that in a touch of irony a celebrity is start struck by a local pizza shop owner 😆 This place would be the only reason I’d have any desire to go to Victoria.
I had a look on Facebook and it is true. It's true that NO ONE WILL GO HUNGRRYYYY!!!
They really are actually PASSIONATE ABOUT PIZZZAAA!
If ever I am in Bacchus Marsh, first stop is going to be Grant Pizza Place.
Arthur seems like an awesome bloke
This video video makes me CHUFFED
That was great, such is life when people give a damn 😂😂😂🤣
Dad!!!!!!!!
Diamond cut pizza - genius!
He was not kidding, those pizzas are huge and 2 slices are enough to feed an adult.
I'm doing some casual work in Bacchus Marsh over Christmas. Gotta go to Grant's.
Arthur sounds like Bobo "fat pizza's pizzas, they're big and they're cheesy" haha love it.
3:08 is that Alex and Josh (from The Last Leg) watching the show???
I need to meet Arthur!!!
endofyraa aaryfodne hey is a amazing guy
Which show was this, does anyone know?!
What show/special is this from?
What is this show called
Damn it, I was in Victoria not that long ago and had nothing to do.
I’m rewatching now because I’m diamond cutting my cheeky brothers pizza!
fuck yeah for PIZZA!
did that make anyone else watch a season of fat pizza
This is Russell Crowe's Zeus accent in Thor Love and Thunder
I wonder if Arthur is still there, I'm almost prepared to drive the 10hrs for a pizza 🍕
Nice
I'm also VERY passionate about pizza! :'D (have a pizza-palm tattoo)
I love pizza 🍕
I'm a massive fan of the last leg... Don't believe me? I'll put my foot down
So who is grant?
I want pizza now.
Would love to order pizza from there
i am also passionate about pizza
This makes me want to travel to Australia just to buy a pizza. I live in Europe and I'm broke... :(
Pizza? Where's Adam?
I DONT GET THE MEME, could u explain?
Grants pizza place convinced my partner and I to move to bacchus marsh, no shit
Grant pizza place is the only good thing about bacchus marsh ( i live and grew up here)
I was also in a class with the kid who answered the phone
Don West selling pizza hahaha
I have never in my life heard of a comedy act with a signer. It seems especially bizarre to me that this guy is doing an accent for most of the joke. I don't understand
This is only a small segment of the act and fyi, there were lots of deaf people in the audience.
The accent and language IS exactly what Arthur will sound like. It is totally typical of Italian and Greek first gen Aussies.
Why is this so choppy? Literally something you have to only listen to.
Adam hills disliked this 6 times
just a question: how do you know he disliked this that many times?
Why would he dislike his own stories?
Okay let's straighten a little bit out here shall we ? Bacchus marsh is about an hour away from Melbourne and its pretty god damn in the middle of nowhere, and that pizza joint is alright, and nice bloke! But I'd honestly prefer some sapranos, far west or mario's..
Coming from someone who was born and raised here and is laying in a bed in Bacchus right now !
Bacchus marsh was amazing 😍 then the ice epidemic.. Now it's just fairly scummy and getting way to big!
I remember it in the 80's being a country town. My father would get the car serviced before we went there from middle SE melb.
Now it's outer suburbia, and i drive past from Ballarat often. I do love the local strawberries and Stewart apples from Jonesy's on the avenue.
Probably costed $100 lol
Quido is the one and only..This guy was average
Lies, Lies and Slander!
Why do people find this so funny? What am I missing?
A sense of humor?...
I am missing the same thing.
This guy is just not funny except one leg hahahahahahahahaha
He is woke as fiuk. So mo more pizza.
