- I'm always being asked how did I get into the limo business. Was it difficult? What were my biggest hurdles starting from scratch?
Well in this video, I breakdown the first 5 steps of starting a mini business. From insurance to marketing,m, and types of limo services, I will detail everything one by one. Sit back, grab a notebook, and let's get started!
In today's times, people are always looking at ways to add extra revenue streams. Owning a limo business takes more of a commitment than most people imagine. It takes time, hard work, persistence, and even a little bit of luck. However, don't let me talk you out of it! If you want to, where there is a will, there is definitely a way.
First and foremost, you need to find out what type of limo company/service you want to be. Do you want to do retail work as we do? Retail work means you are selling your services to the retail market vs to corporate clients and contracted events. Do you want to do airport transfers, corporate shuttles, hotel shuttles, weddings, transfers, antique vehicles, etc etc etc.
Second, do your research! Insurance is one of the biggest expenses in the limo industry. Do your research! Call different agents, brokers, and professionals in the insurance industry who can write limo policies. You need commercial insurance with enough coverage to cover you, your customers, your driver, and vehicles. This is a process, it will not happen overnight. Start making calls, find out who writes policies in your area, and start getting quotes.
Three, research some more! Google your competitors, find out what they currently own, what they offer, and how much charge. Find out if they are willing to work with you if you can list or advertise their vehicles on your website. Find out what your market lacks, and fill the void. Research, research, research! Find a way to set yourself apart from the pack. Be a leader, not a follower.
Four, look, find, and buy your first vehicle. Limo or bus, your first purchase will define who your business will become. There are several groups on Facebook that specialize in limos for sale. Search them, request to follow them, and do your homework. Learn who the main vendors are that build limos and buses, speak to them, they have years of experience. Maybe they can help you open your eyes to a vehicle, brand or specific type of vehicle that you would never have thought of. Speak to everyone you can.
Five, MARKET! Market, market, market. Build a website, list your website on all the free directories online. Use your friends, family, Facebook friends, Instagram followers, Snapchat people, Twitter, etc etc etc. Learn SEO, post your website on google my business, map listings, etc. If you don't know how, find someone who does, and pay them! - Zábava
finally got my party bus business off the ground. this video was very vital for how I conducted my startup. Thanks.
How’s your business?
@@xxrkg8437 it's going well it's been a year now . This video is the foundation of how I run my business. Party2city partybus. He points out how even with competitors you can be unique and draw different clientele.
Glad it helped, how’s business now?
@@AmericanAFDumpsters still going well. Just picked up a driver. Gonna get him trained for the 2nd bus.
@@3durtyanyway I can reach out to you for some questions?
Thanks for the advice bro! I've been a chauffeur for 12 years between in different cities and now it's time to start my own. All the advice you've given i've been researching which tells me i'm on the right track! 💯
Best of luck! It isn't an easy road but doable!
This was very helpful 😊 I am considering a limousine business. Keep these limousine videos coming.
Appreciate it, unfortunately, I sold my limo business after 16 years in March if this year. Might make a video on that.
Great video man! Looking to start my own and this was very informative. Thanks!
Super duper helpful! Hopefully you’ll make another episode soon because you give great and practical advice

Great information!
Solid AF tips!
Good shit Josh! Keep the videos coming
Appreciate it brother!
I just saw your video and it was very informative. I live in Boston and the competition here is high, and with that I’m trying to stand out from these other companies. I got some big ideas but I need to see if I can get these other vendors on board. Got to spend money to make money
Great video, thanks for sharing!! Im based in New Zealand and run 2 buses, this is my 1st year!
Welcome to the business! It’s an addiction, that’s for sure!!
@@AmericanAFDumpsters haha your not wrong! We own a pub and brought our smaller bus as a bit of a side hustle for the pub, but then the addiction kicked in and decided to take it further and now have a 34 seater as well. We do party tours on the Fridays and private hires on the saturdays
Thank you!
You're welcome!
This was interesting 👍
Glad you think so!
What’s the best way to set up and find out what to charge? I’ve started up in a rural area but within an an hour of larger cities. Have 1 stretch party limo and 1 luxury SUV.
THANK YOU...
Welcome!
Very good, Pure advice. Feel like I trust this guy!
Is it the beard? Lol
@@AmericanAFDumpsters Quite possibly 😂
A collector is going to let us use his "one of a kind white 1934 Ford Custom Limo". Doing research how and what get started. We are still in planing stages. Hope get started in 2022. Located in Tempe, Arizona. Car type vintage classic cars.
Lots of money on vintage!! $550-$600 MINIMUM around here for just a transfer!
It's really a tough business to get into now. Think long and hard before you start a limo service.
I would like to have that kind of party bus with a restroom in the back. And I would like to be able to run these out what drivers. I’m gonna have to start with one and be the driver. I realize that. But eventually I want to get probably 5 to 10 party buses, and have drivers.
It's a process but can be done! Best of luck!
Can you elaborate on selling/drinking liquor in the bus? I guess it requires an alcohol license? Any hardships from it? Thank you
Is it better to lease a car or 2. I’m starting off doing this by myself?
Any advice on starting out in Napa valley ? Not sure if you heard anything
Do you know who provides commercial insurance for rideshare in California? Any insurance brokers?
You should give us a tour
🎉❤❤❤❤🎉it’s nice to enjoy to own something like this but that nice but it takes time to have money to make everything worth it ❤
I plan on starting a Limousine Company in the future in New York and the cars that I plan on getting are a Chevy Suburban, a Ford Excursion, a Mercedes Benz S-Class, a Hummer H2, a Cadillac Escalade, and a Chrysler 300 as starter cars for the business and since I live in California, it will not be a good idea to start a Limousine business in California so I will move to New York and start a business there but at the same time, I will live in California so I want the cars for my limo company to be pretty comfortable but at the same time, I want them to stand out in terms of looks
Couple tips. New York is almost as bad to start a limo company in as CA. NY has a ton of laws AND just passed another that limos cannot be more than 5 years old. Also, Hummers are a money pit. Stay far far away from them in my opinion. Best of luck!
@@AmericanAFDumpsters thanks for the advice
@@AmericanAFDumpsters Why can't limos be older than 5 years? That is odd for new York to do.
Hope you started off the business in NYC.

Wow from Dallas tx that's was up. What part dallas ykur business at
We are just south of downtown on I-35
You look a little different not being in the dumpster truck how do you think that party bus will do towing the dumpsters ?
Just wait till you see me in a suit and tie... 🤣
How can I meet you or your team for a consultation?
Thanks for the info..question: I'm an experienced chauffer in Vegas and I have an opportunity to own my own stretch Limo...is it going to be difficult to start my own car service business up all by myself with one vehicle? Do recommend I try for a Loan since this will probably cost me alot out of pocket?
Vegas is a closed market, extremely difficult to start a new limo business in Vegas. Check your city asap before spending any more money or time!
@@AmericanAFDumpsters What is meant by a "closed market?" Like to many companies in town? Thanks for the reply.
@@GaryRinaldi mob runs it, stay away.
Never start a business using your own money! Get a LLC then get a business loan. If anything goes south the LLC will take the hit your personal assets will be safe !
How much do you charge
Do you offer mentorship to help small businesses get started?
No I’m sorry I do not at this time
I just brought my first limo today for 1.5k ,made by Tiffany, if u don’t want to use it for business , how would I go about having it for personal use ,what type of insurance would I need or would I still need to get commercial insurance still?
$1,500?? Not bad. Most people that have limos as personal use insure them as a regular car. Insurance companies don't know if it's a stretch or a sedan by the vin number. Only problem is, this is highly illegal if you ever rent it out, even worse if you get in an accident with passengers in the car and don't have commercial insurance. So if you are really only using it for personal use, insure it personally.
@@AmericanAFDumpsters which top 3 commercial insurance do you recommend good sir ?
Just bought my first party bus in LA why would you say it’s hard to start a business like this in LA ?
Do the party bus drivers earn good money?
Very!!
@@AmericanAFDumpsters I live in Las Vegas, lmk know if you need a driver or plan to open up shop here. With your knowledge I bet you can make a killing here. Thanks for replying to my comment.
Best place to find a used sprinter? Cash 💵
Shoot right now sprinters are super hard to come by! I know of only one currently for sale for 90k
