- In this video, we look at how Startups get off the ground. Get the first 100 Customers, users or buyers. To get a good picture of the best way to grow right now I’ve asked startups that recently grew from nothing to real growth how they did it.
Over 100 Startups came back and told me what strategies worked to get their startup off the ground and a special thank you to all the startups that contributed by letting us know how they got their first growth!
We go through 12 different strategies that startups use to get their startup off the ground in 2022. We look at what strategies actually work right now. Strategies such as Direct Outreach (E-mails, DMs, calls), Strategic Partnerships, Paid Advertising (Paid advertising on networks, Facebook, Instagram or others), Organic Social Media (Posts on social media), PR (Press), Content (Blogs, LinkedIn, CZcams, etc.),
SEO (Non-paid Search Engine Optimization). SEM (Paid Search Engine Marketing) and others.
Finally, we get an overview of the best strategies, then we split up the list and look at B2C and B2B separately as the strategies are different.

I grew my media biz by focusing heavily on content. Surprise. Especially increasing the amount of frequencies and formats as well as using news trendy stories grew our user base significantly.
Thanks yes pushing things that are already in the news usually works well.
Amazing! This guy is real!.
Thanks for your support! You got a new subscriber!
I like how you have practical and real info... because as you said the general influencer marketing and so on do not fit for a first 100 clients thing...
I was thinking of personal network for 1st place, but what if the startup field is unrelated to your daily interests and circles? We've been sending tons of cold emails but we arent even sure on where to network or to find the contacts for our industry...
And linked in is only useful if you already have some "circle", content or have some trust.
Thanks yes it is more tricky if outside your normal network. Most founders build inside the network and that is why it ranks this high.
Love how you compiled this
Great & insightful piece Heini. Catch you on the next one;-)
Great, see you then!
Another great video Heini! Love it
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Good video! I would like to add 2 more strategies to this list: 1. Topic specific forums (for example Reddit) and 2. Staged scandals (which could fall under PR, but I would separate it, with well planned scripts it works positively).
Thanks, got it, the scandals is a first, had not heard that one before.
Dear Mr Heini @RawStartup,

Glad to help a little bit on your Startup journey.
If there is something more than a like, I would give this video. Exactly what I have been looking for
Thanks!
Very interesting! Thank you:)
Yeah, I’d like to know more about strategic partnership
Thanks, I should probably do a video on that.
Awesome video
Thank you so much for this
I’d like you to talk more about how to do direct outreach on another video
Please 😁
Thanks, glad you liked it, I just need to find an outreach guru and I will do just that!
Keep ‘em coming.
Thanks and keep watching!
So helpful 😊
Excellent analysis, asusual ;-)
I tried social network and didn't worked at all. I agree with the research conclusions. Many thanks
Thanks, yes social networks are hard these days, but a lot of people have success with LinkedIn.
Great video. Again!
Thanks!
Thanks for great insight. Can you do a detailed video on Influencer marketing and endorsement.
Helped. Thanks!
Great welcome!
Very interesting, thank you
Very informative video 👍
Stoked to see Email/direct being rated as the second most popular. While SEO and social will always be my go-to creatively, few things beat a direct approach. And as mentioned in the video, it's an insane amount of work behind all of these and Direct especially. But unlike Paid, Social, Affiliates etc. I feel that there's a certain level of success you can guarantee when using Direct. And guarantees aren't too common in the start-up scene 🙂
Thanks, yes the direct approach is still huge, just works, but takes a lot of work.
Kæmpe tak for at dele din viden! Uvurderligt for en tech founder der prøver at lære marketing :)
Takker, godt at kunne hjælpe!
Superb video thank you
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Great job!
Thanks!
This video is beyond helpful as I’m launching. Any direct outreach tips for brand newbies in the startup world?
Glad it was helpful, I'm a little weak on the branding side...but will release a personal brand video soon!
Please make a video on how to build partnerships. Thank you for this video. It is really good.
Thanks Partnerships are hard in the early stages. But thanks will have a think about that
Paid advertising is way too expensive these day and the acquisition cost too is crazy high thanks to Facebook and Instagram. I'd rather go for PR, using the social media spending budget. My personal view.
Agree, paid advertising has gone crazy these days, use it carefully.
@rawstartup these insights are great.
We’re looking at launching our own collagen brand geared at a specific customer market.
Would the B2C Strategies work for this type of product company too, not just tech startups?
God bless you Sir!
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Quality, thank you.
Thanks!
@@RawStartup You know what's crazy? I've seen hundreds of channels like yours, that deliver 1M+ viewers level content and have a few thousand subscribers.
Every single one of them got past 1M subscribers in a couple of years.
Would love to chat with you and my team one day, would a 10 minute chat be possible?
Perfect Heini , Greetings from Wine Guys Frankfurt
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
COOL video Heini
Thank you!
Haven't even launched our beta yet but I have about 8 testers signed up!
You will get there!
I'm starting a pick up and delivery laundry service, what do you think would be the most effective way to get my first 10 customers? Craigslist? Facebook groups? Ideally I'd want them to be bunched together to not drive to all 4 surrounding cities which really makes it difficult. Thank you if you can find the time to ponder your thoughts.
I would certainly go hyper local, maybe even use some local banners and handouts.
Good info
Glad you think so!
Hi, can you make a video on roadmap?
Solid idea, added it to the list!
@9:28 Direct Outreach: Sending Marketing Emails to others may result with the sent email ending in the "Spam" folder and thus may hinder the business and reputation. Also, I was told that sending emails to businesses without first knowing them is inappropriate. How would you overcome this glitch is Direct Marketing?
Thank you very much! Yes it is something you have to be very careful with these days, make sure you use e-mail with care.
Get first 1000 customers is easy at this point. I have no inventory, i gor models they want.
Great go for it!
Interesting! Can you share your personal experience on how you find your first 100 customers?
Thanks I might mention it in the video, but first 100 for Vivino was really personal network and app stores
Would these strategies work for an Edtech platform too marketing B2B and B2C?
I think yes, just pick the best ones for you!
which srategy for 2023 would you reccomend?
It just really depends on what you do and what your situation is. I will probably do an update of this soon, keep an eye out for that!
Great video, if you create a product without a way to talk to the people you want to sell too... whats the point
Thanks!
Can I build a large app with Adalo and DALL -E?
Yes probably, but maybe Flutterflow is better for that
🇮🇳
Thanks!
