Excellent video. I ordered an incompatible charger for my laptop because I wanted a beefier one than original. It had the wrong end or the pictures weren't correct. In any case it's otherwise compatible, so I have opted to swap the cables rather than return it. (the old supply is dead this isn't just for more wattage.)
I wondered if these would open this way and then snap back closed. I like your practical, get it done approach, but the damage would defeat my purpose for opening the box at all. I will probably opt to splice the cable and heat shrink over the repair since I am likely to sell this laptop soon and don't want the power supply to give a buyer pause.
As for the increased wattage, I'm going from 45 to 65. The question is why did the supply die to begin with. I think it could use more headroom than it had. the new supply box is about twice the size of the original which makes me more confident whether it actually should or not.
