- Richard Gowers gives one of the best performances Julius Reubke's 'Sonata on the 94th Psalm' that you'll ever hear.
It was played during Richard's BIS Organ Recital (which may be seen in its entirety here: ( • 🎵 An Organ Recital by ... ) using the incredible organ of St Martin's Church in Dudelange (Luxembourg). There is no Hauptwerk organ better than this for this particular piece, and has been masterfully sampled by @Hauptwerkgek.

What a treat!

Making money is not my primary objective. After expenses are taken into consideration, remaining revenue is invested back into BEAUTY IN SOUND. Audio and visual equipment is expensive, and I also pay a fair fee to all recitalists who appear on BIS. This is why I regularly ask YOU to help, and I’m sorry for having to do so. I hope that you can all see the tangible improvements being made to BIS along our shared journey.

It gets way more impressive when you meditate on the Bible verses that go with the music. Stunning.
Oh glorious rapture. Thank you Richard and Richard.
now we just need the giant Liszt piece "Ad Nos"😁 This was a friends "party piece", and recorded it at a few venues including Durham ,Manchester Cathedrals and Leeds Town Hall. Richards playing is top notch
Let's not forget Liszt's incredible "Weinen, Klagen,Sorgen, Zagen"!
Or the Franck Grande Piece Symphonique at Rouen!
TOTALLY AGREE, best performance I've heard! Precision, energy, ferocity, sensitivity - all perfectly pitched. Almost unbelievable.
Every time I see this performance (and I’ve seen it more than anyone else) I notice something else. You are totally right - it could become the definitive performance.
I haven't heard this before. WOW, no platitudes, just WOW!
This is riveting stuff ... musicianship of the highest order. Most organists use this piece to show off their impressive technique, but Mr Gowers uses his impressive technique and interpretive insight to give us what Reubke surely intended. Videography and editing create a stunning presentation.
I first came across this piece when I was studying the organ 50 or so years ago and it was one of my first LPs! Way outside my league to play.
Great to hear definite bright brass chords around 12.30, a focal point for the first half and not always properly highlighted.
A performance I'll come back to. Thanks.
what an amazing performance - stunning interpretation, registration, and absolutely world-class videography, audio production and presentation. Wow - desert island piece. Desert island recording 😊
what can i say? I'm blown away.
I think this is one of the best performances of this piece on CZcams! In fact, it’s one of the best performances I’ve ever heard!
What a masterful performance. Fantastic registration and interpretation. Richard G. sets the mood for this piece, and may be he even sets the bar!!! Without doubt, if Julius Reubke were alive to hear Richard G. play this sonata, he would have been delighted and gratified by the recital. Who would have thought that such stunning and outstanding music could come from such a young composer, and similarly, be played with such excellence by a young performer/organist. Well done Richard G. Great editing Richard M. Thanks you both so much. I shall be listening to this quite frequently, I'm sure.
Extremely beautiful! Thank you, Richard Gowers and Richard McVeigh! Applause from Brazil.
Oh Yes...A magisterial performance of a magisterial work - Absolutely earth-shattering!!! B-R-A-V-O!!!
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
A new one for me; thank you!
Beautiful performance.
WOW! Just WOW!
Played from the heart, in great relationship to the text, great musicality thankyou.
He is a very fine player, and it was a privilege to have him round at BIS.
I can’t decide whether your talented rendition here sets a mood or captures it but it certainly takes us along with it, brilliantly and sublimely.
Angels playing celestial music
Prayerfully played🙏🙏🙏
Outstanding!!!
Wow. I mean, just; WOW.
Thank you for that absolutely stunning realisation of Reubke's masterpiece..
Marvelous performance!
Well done indeed.
Very well Done!👍👏👏👏 Exciting, yet Relaxing..😁 Great sounds for the day❣️🙏🏾
I have heard of Reubke but have never played a piece by him. The video tells me that I have to change it.
There's also a Reubke piano sonata which is not without its difficulties!
There is no other good piece by Reubke. He died only 24 years old.
@@dirkbrodling4230 This is so sad. What wonderful other pieces could be available, if he lived longer.
breathtaking, breathtaking!!! Congrats ☺️
Very nice!
Terrific. Tremendous. Terrifying.
Absolutely superb. Is it alright to share this to my own FB page? I thought that Mr Gowers' performance from memory at the organ in King's was definitive, but this is even finer. I wouldn't have thought that possible but this is breath taking.
Share away - no need to ask permission to share! 😊
@@beautyinsound Many thanks. Greatly appreciated.
