    I got SavorOne last year and was like "wow this card is underrated", 3% on streaming/dining/grocery with no AF is awesome. Now I'm looking at Venture X and this just makes me even MORE stoked I have SavorOne

  • @totz808
    @totz808 Před rokem +21

    I lucked out big time. I signed up for a Capital One Savor card back when it was the 3% card, essentially where the Savor One is now. When they bumped it up to the 4% card, they grandfathered me in with no annual fee, so I have a free Savor card with 4% dining, entertainment, streaming, and 3% groceries, but no annual fee. I also got the Venture X card last year so my bifecta is complete.

    One big advantage of capital1 is all their cards have no foreign txn fees; on chase side only csr and csp have no foreign txn fee. When you actually travel outside the country that matters a lot, esp that’s when you tend to spend more too

    Thanks for breaking down all of these perks for us Kevin. I’ve been strongly considering the Venture X as my next card to fill the lack of a premium travel card in my setup. Capital One really fills a great gap here between the ultra premium, high annual fee cards like the Amex Platinum and Chase Sapphire Reserve. Some of the extra VX benefits that I learned from this video are just icing on the cake for this card. I am a bit nervous though that Capital One might make some more perk changes in the future, similar to what we saw last year. I’m definitely excited to apply for the card later this year though!

    Another reason to think about Capital One is Chase's policies. When talking about the Chase cards, remember Chase will AUTO-DENY if you have any kind of bankruptcy, even if they were not included in it, even if it was 9 years and 11 months ago, even if you rebuilt your credit and have an excellent score. No need to take my word for it, call the reconciliation line before you apply and Chase will tell you. So for someone in that position Capital One is a lot more open to wanting your business.

    Anybody have any experience booking through capital one for hotels??? Wonder how that process is? I travel for work and like to maximize those points. Sometimes I have check out early or stay longer depending on the job. American Express you have to call and modify arrangements and they call the hotel, and you could potentially acquire fees. So, it's a hassle. Normally I would book through concur and the hotel puts a hold on the card until your stay is up. But booking through Amex travel you pay for the trip up front. which kind of sucks. My American Express has foreign transactions fees, so that's a bummer when I travel internationally. Thats a big reason I'm looking at capitol one card. The 15 month no interest is always nice as my AE intro offer just ran out.......

    My issue is that I’ve held the capitol one quicksilver card since 2019, and I’ve never gotten approved for an increase. They won’t even reach $4K when I have 80K income, a 780-800 credit score, and over 30K I’m available credit to make my debt:credit like 2% 🤦‍♂️
    It’s been my daily driver card for non groceries / gas / Apple Pay, over then last year or two, never missed a payment.

      Probably going to look at switching my quicksilver over to a Venture X, and hopefully that will land me a credit increase from a human being, instead of the poor automated system.

    Hi Kevin you say that we can convert the cash back from the SAVOR ONE card to miles who comes with the VENTURE X but i contact Capital One and they told me that it s not possible to do that. I probably get someone from the customer service who gives me the wrong info but i m a bit confusing now. Can you please confirm me that you are 100% sure that we can do that? Do you personally have this both card and did that?

      Maybe it was the rep or the wording. Yes it should be possible to change your Savor card's cash back into Venture miles (should be via the Share My Reward option in the rewards tab)

    Since it’s half a cent cash back for miles does this mean Chase is king for cash back if you aren’t using points or miles for travel? I think 20000 UR points is $200. Is 20000 cap one miles/points only worth $100 cash back? This means those “elevated” cash back percentages or miles are half what they appear if used for for cash back. And ah….just got to that point in the video lol. Good for people to know.

    • @KevinYang
      @KevinYang  Před rokem

      For pure cash back, likely, however travel is pretty broad and depending on your spend overall or in that category, it could still be worth considering!

      @@KevinYang yeah makes sense. If I traveled more I would definitely be considering more. Looking at a Disneyland trip in the next 18 months so thinking of combining a venture rewards with a Wyndham Warner card and an Alaska visa to cover 100% of the hotel and 75% of the flight cost. Don’t love the annual fee cards in that trip longer term since we rarely travel though. Sign up bonuses to pay for most of one trip. We will see after that. Alaska seems to be the only non stop airline from Seattle to Santa Ana so it seems like that’s the best route to go.

      Yeah this is a great point on the Venture X. Venture X is cool for international travel. I would still get the Venture X personally but i would pair it with another travel card like the newer Bilt card which seems more focused on domestic travel (it's one of the only, if not the only CC, that has American Airlines and United as transfer partners).
