Now that was a nice reveal at the end that the Deciever (C'tan star god) was the one who set Abadon on the path to get the Blackstone fortresses. He probably predicted rightly that it would ultimately with their destruction deprive the galaxy of the only weapon that could slay the C'tan. That was a nice touch. Plans within plans.

What could have that kind of power, to shatter apart beings that fed on the stars themselves?
Perhaps the Blackstone fortresses are a glimpse into what kind of weapons were wielded during “the War in Heaven”... Weapons capable of destroying whole star systems at a time... and perhaps those that fed upon them?

Basically, Abaddon the Harmless got manipulated like lil' bitch and by trying to obtain Black Fortresses, he pulled the attention of Imperium and Eldar to them, so they were able to destroy at least one of them. In other words, yeah crone/Deceiver just kinda knew that Abaddon is too stupid to actually win and used him to get rid of one of the only few weapons that could harm them :)

It's interesting you say that - I always got more of an Eldar vibe from the Tenno, what with all the running around solo with psychic powers and being space ninjas with exotic masks and a once-great faction, and Imperium of Man from the grineer, with them being bred in near-limitless reserves exclusively for war and following a monarchical figure and hating everything that isn't them (and themselves to a lesser extent) lol
And for anyone wondering, I feel the T'au would be the Corpus' equivalent, with the drone-proxies and technology and only one character being good in melee (in prod we trust!), the Tyrannids would be the Infested's, with the incorporating everything into the biomass, and the Necrons for the Sentients, with the killer ancient robots and original cause of the setting's conflict
If only there were an Ork equivalent!

@@MarvinT0606 The Imperium didn't have much choice in the matter since they were out gunned by Abaddon's forces and the Gothic Fleet couldn't get reinforcements from outside the Gothic Sector because of the warp storm engulfing the sector at the time. The Gothic War lasted for around 20 years and the warp storm lasted for almost that long and didn't dissipate until near the end of the war. Forging an alliance, even if temporary, with the Eldar was needed if there was any hope of preventing the Gothic Sector from falling to the forces of Chaos.

Like I said, Semper also achieved great renown during the Gothic War from the battles he fought and his name and deeds were still cited as an example of naval valour by the time of the 13th Black Crusade. Other than playing a critical role in helping forge an alliance with the Eldar, or at least help get the ball rolling, his ship (Lord Solar Macharius) oversaw the evacuation of the planet Belatis in the novel Execution Hour when the planet was targeted by the Planet Killer; he even had to fight his way off the planet at one point with only minutes to spare before Planet Killer fired. The Macharius also managed to get a detailed scan of Planet Killer before making the warp jump.
