I took mine to my local powder coat guy and had him just put a satin finish on it to match the other black parts on my tailgate came out clean.

Was disappointed to find out that it didn't have the assist when I got the truck, and now am super excited and I just ordered it, easy $25 bucks on Amazon. You should paint the bed liner and your tires white so they look like there apart of the vehicle

I have a '16 GMC 2500. The '15 and up models come standard with the soft-opening tailgate.
