[HOW TO] Install a DeeZee Tailgate Assist - Silverado / Sierra - DZ43102 (Fast & Easy)

  • How to Install a DeeZee tailgate assist on my "new to me" 2016 Chevy Silverado WT. DeeZee makes these dampers for many different makes and models. Check their website for exact compatibility. Installations will differ, but will have the same overall effect. Below are some popular models that DeeZee makes the damper for. But be sure to check your compatibility before purchase.

      Most manufacturers after adding them from the factory now. An aftermarket option would be nice for older trucks though.

    How has it been holding up? Also the link you have for it on amazon it says its for a f150. Will it fit my 2014 sierra?

      Still working great. Yea it appears my link is not pulling up the correct one anymore. But the part number listed in the description is the one for 2014-2018 Silverado. DZ43102.

    If I put one of these on each side of the tailgate will it increase horsepower?

      Ha. Funny. It actually switches you to be all electric. So you only need to use diesel fuel and you never have to change your hydraulic fluid ever again. /s

    I bought the same one and it did a great job, until the shock snapped. Does anyone know the size of the shock?

      @@fondupot about 3 to 5 months, hoping to find the size of the of the shock just replace it and I don't buy the whole kit again

      By hand. It’s not very hard.

      No need. The one shock does it all just fine. Mine is still going strong, 3 years later.
