      @@fondupot Does the wired carplay still work with this unit or is it wireless only? My 2020 only can connect with carplay via a cable. My thought is that if your carplay is connected via a cable instead of bluetooth would it not then interfere with the using the phone as a hotspot? I've been seriously looking at this unit and one sold by Autotec. They are very similar and I'm not sure that they are not the same unit just sold by a different company.

    I'm curious to why your intake valves have so much coking, the new LGZ is supposedly fixed (band aid) the issue by dumping oil/fuel mix back in pan with the GM 12668439 Separator ASM-PCV Oil. Mine tuned and all after 500 mile break in was clean and now ill have test on oil after 5300 miles Amsoil 5w30, then Tracy Lewis Catch Can installed 5300 miles again ill borescope and test oil. Ill give some updates. Step by step will follow

    • @fondupot
      @fondupot Před dnem

      It’s just typical Direct Injection. Even the best PCV system is still gonna let some Blow by through. And there’s no fuel wash like port injection to clean the build up off. Your catch can will probably be dry. Others have tested and they don’t get any oil in them. It’s coming from the intake and the breathers. Not the PCV.

    The connector you removed from the square blank looks identical to the stock controller. It appears the truck is prewired and the switch just needs to be installed. I can't say for certain. I'm only assuming it would work that way because that's how I installed power folding mirrors on my 2017, the wiring harnesses was already there, I just installed the switch with the power folding option and it worked. Nice install though, mostly with the accelerometer module, that's a neat feature.

      Yes the wiring provision is there for the factory tow controller. However the programming in the BCM and dash cluster is not. Others have tried installing the factory brake controller only to left empty handed when it doesn’t work without custom programming, at which point I don’t think anyone does. Thanks for watching. The Redarc controller works wonderfully. Set it and forget it.

    I have been considering doing this for my 95 Toyota Pickup, but saw some other videos of people complaining about the motors on these being weak or failing... Have you had any of those issues now 5 years later?

    • @fondupot
      @fondupot Před 7 dny

      Well. I don’t have the truck anymore. But the motors did start to weaken after a few years. I read that upgrading the wiring could help, but I never got around to it.

      Not that I know of for OEM upgrades. But there are some aftermarket upgrades for the center screen available. Im testing one now. Hope to have a video out in a few weeks on it.

    Great review as I have a new 2023 2.7L and love it!!! As far as mileage I'm OK with 21 highway as my 07 5.3L was lucky getting 17mpg on long trips (this is by using a full tank and calculations vs. the MPG reading which was ALWAYS 1mpg high vs. math). So we're talking 20% increase in mileage and more power/torque. As far as oil, I haven't seen anymore than 1/2 quart low at 5K when I change it. My 5.3L burned almost the same amount. Back in 89 I bought a 5.0L Ford (sorry) Mustang. It burned a quart every 1K miles. It was well known that Ford loosened up those engines to reduce warranty claims for lead foots buying them (like me) ;-)
