Yeah I took a while but I'm in college and (holy shit I forgot how much better people treat you in school in Mexico) considering it didn't even give me the time to breath, much less to edit.
Also copyright is a huge bitch so it took me hours of rendering and CZcams magically finding new copyrights that I wasn't told of the first time and even more hours of rendering so that's fun, but I finally got it.
I'm going to be reviewing some animated shows/movies BUT Mexican animation that I grew up with (Not like Coco or The Book of Life, but by Mexican animation studios) I had a lot of fun talking about this and even though it takes me a while to edit, I enjoyed it.

I love this!! It's nice to see someone outside Mexico talk about Mexican animation!!! Animation in latino america is... complicated because not a lot of companies put the needed money to it, that's why most of the animations are made with puppets and 3d (It's faster but yeh), it's sad because people can make REALLY GOOD ANIMATIONS. I could talk a lot about Mexican animation, the jokes and such, It's just sad to see it not grow for many reasons.

As a Brazilian I just can't talk about El Chavo ( or Chaves as he's known here) without a tear of nostalgia in my eye. Both the sitcom and the animated show made a huge part of my childhood as well as the Chapolim Colorado series. In fact, I remember the day when Bolaños passed away, his funeral was broadcasted live throughout the entire country and lot of us mourned his death. His work was and it still is appreciated by many brazilians to this very day, especially in our side of the Internet: there are tons of Chaves YTPs and parodies everywhere and everyone quotes Don Ramón's (Seu Madruga) speeches unironically for some reason lol

It is great having more English speakers talking about mexican animation, I agree that it is kind of sad that most of this works stay just in Mexico, and sometimes latinamerica, and it will be great to actually have people from other countries looking here for the animation, mexican humor is one rare jewel that should be shared worldwide and animation is a great way to convey it.
On the same page with the last part of the video, looks like at list one of the animations in the video may have the posivility to fullfil that wish, it seems like Villainous is getting an oportunity that may open more doors for not only maxican but latinamerican animation, it has two seasons now (s1 web show, s2 tv show), it has been released in 4 lenguages and it is finally available in USA and it seems to bee succesfull on all the other countries where it has been released, even in japan where there are a lot more options to chose from so it is pretty great news for latinamerican animations right now, let´s hope in continues that way.

I want to give light on an animated Mexican movie that no one seems to talk about, even in the Mexican community.
It was the first movie by Anima estudios (same creators of the Leyendas series and Top Cat movie).
It's called "Magos y Gigantes" or Wizards and Giants. Also a flash animated movie. Not the best animation but pretty decent for it's time (2003). The plot itself is alright but entertaining for it's bizarre nature. Not sure if it has an English dub but I've seen Slavic versions of the cover.
You can probably find it online somewhere.
I also want to mention that Legend Quest is an AU of the original movies. Even if you haven't watched the original movies, not much will change by just watching the series.
Personally, I'm not a fan of legend quest as I expected it to be mainly associated with the original movies. My guess is that they made these changes to adapt to an international audience.

and what's even better is that one of the animation director worked in Legend Quest. I met him and he wasn't all that bad. He seems to be a cool guy.

In Mexico villainous were shorts in between cartoons. Like bumps ok adult swim. Meixco has had bumps in between cartoons that they made. Since not a lot of money put into cartoons in mexico. Including voice acting. It is great with the little stuff we do have. Cartoon Network used to do bumps where they had their cartoons living in one city and basically cohabitating together. Mexico made their own as well. And then they made other bumps and now it evolved into what we have as Villainous now.

I've done some studies and research about mexican media in general, and also cartoons in particular
My conclusions are that, like with everything, we hit the ground running, we had to learn on the fly and try to keep up with the rest of the world (specially with the USA)
We also try way too hard to stamp our identity into our animation, but thing is, the Mexican identity is fading away, and it's nowadays a very vague thing that is hard to define, and hard to stamp into a cartoon
