  • Tire dressing is an essential part of the car detailing process, and it can be a little complicated when you are trying to choose between the MILLIONS of options... ok maybe that is an exaggeration, but there are a lot of options. Tire dressing can certainly be simplified, but it is definitely a subject that is complex and just takes some learning. From tire dressings to applicators to how the application process works to everything else, this video is designed to hit the basics of tire dressings, while giving some added tips and tricks to help the do it yourselfers, and professional detailers out there. In this video, I major on Chemical Guys VRP, as it is the tire dressing that I use in my professional car detailing world. Chemical guys VRP is such a versatile product, I just can't let go of it!     You should try car pro Perl, it’s awesome. Also I just noticed all the rust on the rotors from washing. After washing if you run up and down the driveway it’ll prevent that from getting all over the clean wheels. That or Hyde’s rust serum.

    Great video Luke, I use the Stoner aresol spray as well, but I apply it directly to the tire then after about 10min I go over the tire with a medium Bristle brush. Because I work on grass I roll my car back about 2ft and rebrush the tire.. does great between washes..I am getting 4- 24x24 pavers to park on.. I have recently started doing some neighbors and friends vehicles using tips and equipment you have shown..

    Do you roll the car to move the tires off the concrete .This could be a missed spot which can really show up like a black spot on your tooth. Great videos

      Try using rv leveling blocks . They'll get tires off the ground

    Ace Hardware has this same sponge (store brand) for $4.99. Just an FYI. I can't attest to the quality though, as I have not tried them.

    hello I'm new to the channel. do you have any videos on apply a dressing to all terrain tires. I degrease the tires and used meguiars hot shine tire spray and I get tire sling. I used nonsense invisible cleaner to degrease the tires.

    Luke , what's a good engine dresser without getting it all greasy but a nice clean shine? Will VRP or hyper dresser do the job or is there a better product for engine dressing? Thanks!

      Yes both of those products are amazing!! I would dilute either of those 3:1 and dress and engine! Youll love it

      FYI - Hyper Dressing is water soluble, but it also contains silicone. I love it though. I buy it by the gallon and has never let me down.

    What would you recommend to tyre dress ATV / tractor dressing ? Would a spray b easier ?

      Chemical guys in the small spray bottle is what I use on my ATVs. Dry to the touch so no sand all over when done. N it's cheaper than the rest n better.

    Have you tried Color Xtreme Tire Stain? You never dress a tire again. Over 1,000 colors including metallic and pixie dust. Saw it in vegas as an installer I love it. My clients (auto shows) cannot get enough of it. 100% water-based and no silicone

      @@wilsonautodetailing you did mention that you don't like an overly shiny tire. If that's the case, then you will love Adams VRP water based formula. I have tryed many brands and none of them comes close to Adams for a deep black yet not overly shiny look.

    Great Info Luke. VRP, has worked good for me . The rumor is car pro perl is as good and some claim, it is better, more concentrated and can be diluted way more. Check out the forensic detail channel, Jon I think is his name. Maybe you can also do a video about it or test it out. I'd like to try it. 😀Keep up the great work Luke, and it's is very smart that you wear gloves to protect your hands you also look more professional, good job with the video editing also.

    if you use the spray stuff, like on a jeep tire you said how do you apply it? just carefully spray and clean the wheels again? I always get some on my wheels.

      Honestly they are both so similar, the ONLY difference that I can say is that I have heard testimonies about hyper dressing slinging a little bit, and never chemical guys VRP

      Some prefer using mineral spirits after using a tire cleaner for sure getting off the old dressing

      Uuuummmmm yes... I dont know how often I have heard it called "oil based" but I would imagine that is the same thing yes

      I dont dilute it when I am using it on tires, but when I am dressing engines I will dilute it 5:1!!

    You forgot to move the vehicle to get that spot that squashed against the pavement - keeping the product out. Or maybe you have a trick to get good coverage.

      A quick treatment with an aerosol fan dressing in a small spot like that will do the trick no problem

      bekir kurt I would call VRP a durable tire dressing, but I think when it comes to dressings and durability there are a lot of variables because number one: it's a water based dressing which is going to make things different, number two: how much is the car driven, and things like that. The list goes on

      Mark H if you are wanting longer lasting you are going to have to go silicon based, but you could try "car pro perl" and I've heard really good things and it's water based!
