    I removed tomatoes from my diet and I haven't had an attack in 5 years suffered for 15 years allopurinol stopped working every weekend it would flare up but not anymore. So just give it a try and see if this works for you. Good luck fellow sufferers

    Traditional foods, like the ones mentioned here don’t cause my gout. Sugary drinks, sweets, and allowing myself to become dehydrated cause gout attacks for me. We have way more endogenous (self producing) uric acid than exogenous (from food), and 90% of people with gout have a problem with being able to excrete uric acid. I eat a carnivore diet, which consists of mostly beef and eggs, and since I’ve cut sugar, I no longer have gout attacks. Their is a tie to being insulin insensitive with gout as well. I drink a gallon of water per day as well. My blood work looks better now than it ever has.

    Previous experts have told me the richest source of purines is pulses- baked beans and lentils, very rich in purine proteins but your advice does not mention these to avoid? Baked beans in particular have so much salt and sugar added to them.

    Thank you Victoria. I just had my first flare up over Easter, 2020. Don't wish this on anybody. Been in the process of loosing weight. Close to sixty pounds so far. This diet makes sense. Not a big fan of pork, tolerate beef, lamb too expensive. What is killing me is the shellfish. Didn't have it often so really enjoyed it when we did. However, if I can prevent that pain, I will. Couldn't walk at all.

    Im a gout sufferer for the past 20 years I tried all those “healthy diet” none of it worked, I started on the keto diet for the last 4 months, and now I feel way much better, the worst thing you can do is to eat carbs, sugars, fruits, any sweet natural or processed are the main causes of gout flair ups.

      I was wondering about that. My husband has tried all the gout diets and the do's and don't's and nothing has worked for him either. I will recommend keto to him. He does need to lose weight so that will help. Thanks for sharing what worked for you.

      El Di fruits are really important for your health and against gout. I agree with process sugar but the sugar in fruits is far different in its natural form the lady here as obviously told you fruits and veg is best.

    I am 59 years old and suffer from sporadic gout attacks. My last one showed a Uric acid level of 17! It always seems to strike when the weather changes and I take Allopurinol for it but the doctors are always messing with doses and renewals. When my attacks happen I literally have to use a cane and after about a week; I have to use crutches! Luckily, I work from home so I can still crawl around on the floor to get to the computer. Ugggghhhhh

  • @edwardhelmer9928
    @edwardhelmer9928 Před 4 lety +80

    I've been eating Keto for the past 4 months and no gout flare-ups. I was told by my doctor to stop eating red meat and seafood. Also, no alcohol. Gout is inflammation of the joint and the uric acid crystals happen to settle in those joints that are inflamed. Eliminate your inflammation, you can eliminate gout. I eat more red meat than I have ever in my life. I have stopped alcohol and that has helped too. This is typical medical advice that isn't valid. Fats are good, so is protein. The devil is in the carbohydrates, that cause high sugar levels and insulin resistance. THAT'S the issue, not fat or meat.

    Some of the comments below are odd and not very wise. You CANNOT apply one approach to gout to everyone. That's just dumb. Many factors impact gout and our INDIVIDUAL bodies act and react in different ways. Be aware of what goes into your body and eliminate anything that has the TENDENCY to increase gout. Continue eating things that don't cause gout. Again, it's all different for everyone but keep an eye on those foods with high purines. Yes, some might not impact YOU but some impact OTHERS. That's just common sense, people. Good video.

  • @1aikane
    @1aikane Před 4 lety +61

    It seems the problems are related to the kidneys lack of ability to rid the body of the uric acid, not the purines.

      I am seriously surprised about the crab as top reference. I think she means deep fried and in butter 🧈 🦀 🧈 🦀 so it depends on how you eat it. Yet more veggies and dark fruit are best.
