- The hell knight is a creature that is going to be the main forces of hell. There exists larger demons to be sure, but this soldier is going to be the main backbone. Lets dive into the lore and morphology of the hell Knight and learn what exactly makes this creature so menacing!

Also i found a book about all these really terrifying creatures it was a bestiary for a book series called deltora quest and the creatures in there scared me shitless i think it would be good material for a video though
Maybe the muscles in the legs are tightly compact but flexible like Steel cable that can stretch and maybe the muscles have holes in them but those holes are reinforced that makes The Hell Knight able to cope with and absorb the shockwaves on impact with anything solid like a metal beam or a metal floor.

I was surprised to learn this thing had eyes...
as was I, the older models you can see the eyes clearly, on the newer one, it says they are there, and I can kind of see where they are talking about, but those are some small eyes
you know that thing must have a really good sense of smell because i don't see any ear large ear openings either. maybe it's roars are some sort of echolocation because I imagine that those eyes could not properly direct it to an enemy

it actually makes sense that it would be omnivorous. it's related, but much more dangerous version, the Baron of hell, has goat like features. Goats are biologically omnivorous

You make a mistake in applying the characteristics of a being from a different dimension to a creature from our dimension.
Goats are often associated with demons and hell as well so it kinda makes sense
(Idk why they are associated with Hell, same thing with snakes being pretty chill animals but whatever)
christian church coopting pagan symbology for the sake of trying to squash rival religions. its why the traditional devil depicitions look like red angry versions of pan or other such pagan gods.

It's just a different version of Hell, Lucifer is sometimes represented by Humans as a red horned goat like monster. That's where the Barons of Hell got their look from.
Hell Knights are more than likely what Barons of Hell ascended from.
As gladiators in Hell's arenas, they'd be exposed to constant unceasing Demon combat, which would mold them into some of the finest warriors around. A perfect place to pick out the greatest Hell Knight champions to serve as the personal guard of the Dark Lord, at which point they'd probably grow both physically and metaphysically into Barons of Hell.
The Barons share an overall similar bodily structure to Knights, and their naming suggests that Hell Knights can ascend in both rank and power to rule over lesser Demons. This is also supported by the old games, where Hell Knights were basically smaller Barons of Hell.
Barons are like the general/leader of hell knights, and both of them are my faverite demons :D
I mean in doom 2 they used a smaller Sprite of the baron and were grayish brownish then red

I’ve always thought the hell knight was an evolved version of imps that prefer melee combat while summoners are imps that prefer ranged combat

Ryaquaza 1 to me, it looks more like a shortened, rounder head of a xenomorph
The most surprising thing about this is that, it seems id Software actually put thought into the physiology and morphology of the creatures they created/revamped for the reboot. I mean, some are a bit silly, like the Cacodemon, but I'm pretty sure that's the point of that one. The Hell Knight however, definitely seems like they took a lot of time to make sure its movement and abilities made sense with its actual body. And I like that kind of care and attention.

Excellent. Flawless work as far as I'm concerned. Maybe they have some sort of McGuffin bending ability.... I mean Argent energy bending ability to shield themselves from the shockwave.
I think talkin' about evolution in case of demons is not applicable. Demons are created in the true sense of the word, they are artificial, and not evolved in any way. You could argue that the humans/animals exposed to argent energy did "evolve" into demons, but 1) that's a misuse of the term, it's actually metamorphosis, 2) that's still the actually evolved creatures evolving, not the demons themselves.
Very interesting! The demons are interesting as true, they don't seem to have an origin, unless organic matter of the universe was naturally changed by argent energy

This is a fantastic breakdown of the Hell Knight. It is basically hell's version of a Rugby player completely overhauled and with all that hatred put onto the ground pound and the run, but removing the scandal. It's a brawler, pure and simple

Rusty pickup man actually scientists and the military all use metric so it’s easier to communicate to other countries thus the metric system got us to the moon

Hell Knight vs Sangheli? Sangheli win by a land slide because higher intelligence + plasma weapons. In a 1v1 fist fight with no armor however Hell Knight wins. Depends on various factors.

Shields or not the hell knight will still use its fists to smash the bones of the elite, or it will just rip it in half. If the elite had weapons however it would be a more even match

Demons for sure have a lot more intelligence than their appearance suggests, and I doubt Sangheili would be capable of one-on-one combat with these demons at all. Not only are they far more muscular and brutal in their attacks, but they are also natural pyromancers, using fire in their melee attacks along with their massive strength. Long-range a Sangheili would probably win (just in the nick of time), but short range, a Sangheili has no chance.
I mean its not fire, its plasma but does the same thing. It burns.

Roanoke Gaming I would say more like a gorilla but has ungodly leaping abilities. In a one on one a hell knight would tear up an elite with brute force, elites could win if they manage to keep there distance and shoot them with their plasma rifles.

One thing I'd like to point out is that, when you said if an imp starts making those gains how it might become a Hellknight. If you watch gameplay footage of Doom during its development, you can see that imps do in fact look like Hellknights. Having very similar round heads

Clearly at one point, imps were meant to be a lesser Hellknight
But then it was changed to were imps are related to the summoners. Even one of the UAC logs state that imps are just "lesser" summoners
Too bad, it would have been interesting to know that one of the lesser demons of hell can evolve to a brute like the Hellknight.

There's a monstrous character I've been thinking about the design of for the longest time now, this video definitely helped with some idea's. It's one thing to make something look cool, but it's another to have it make sense.

Absolutely! there will be more coming! its quite time consuming making these videos, I basically get off work and begin working on them till well past dinner, perhaps in the future if I no longer need my full time job then I can make them longer, for now, this might be all the time I really have!

I remember the first time I saw a Doom 3 hellknight back on PC, I was staring at that face for almost an hour in noclip. I think the face still looks better in 3 but maybe that’s because of how the head looked more deformed.

The Hell Knight is probably just the younger form of The Baron of Hell. I still hold my theory that Imp, Summoner, Baron of Hell and Hell Knight are all different forms of the same creature.

One thing I'd like to point out is that, when you said if an imp starts making those gains how it might become a Hellknight. If you watch gameplay footage of Doom during its development, you can see that imps do in fact look like Hellknights. Having very similar round heads and dark gray skin.
Also missed a death animation where the Hellknight finishes Doomguy by delivering a punch rather then a stomp to the skull.

For future videos on doom if you collect all the mini figures throughout the game you can look at the 3D model of every in game demon with out having to use weapon zoom to point out their features like on here

But while I'm mentioning it, I think a hell knight vs halo brutes would be a better match up. Or maybe even the brutes from dead space? Some match ups between dead space and doom might be pretty kool.

The evolved version of the imp is actually the summoner. The UAC data mentions this and you can see the a lot similarities between the two.

Personally my favorite demon in the whole franchise. Especially the design from Doom 3 and Doom 2016. I like them both for different reasons. The Hell Knight looks way more muscular and fleshy looking which gives a much scarier appearance. But the Doom 2016 although smaller in size is still a brute in destruction and has more armor on ots body giving it a more fleshed out look. Doom Eternal in my opinion has the beat Hell Kniht design of the two though. It gives it a dark shade of grey red and black making it seem more demonisb than the last two games were it looked more alien like. It also gave it dark orange eyes making it look all the more hellish and meancing. I over all love Hell Knight even in Doom 2 were it was a recoloration of the Baron!!
