You know, always operated on the assumption/headcanon that the Imp is the sort of baseline or template for several other demons and gradually mutate into some of the other bipedal types based on their dispositions towards combat and killing, with argent energy reacting to their overall skills. I always imagined that Imps who were primarily skilled in stealth would molt into Prowlers if they lived to a certain age, whereas those with an aptitude towards all-our CQC would become Hellknights and later Barons of Hell and the ones talented in argent energy manipulation would become Summoners and eventually Arch-viles. Again, this is just my own headcanon theory, based on how most humans exposed to argent energy turn into zombies, but fully trained soldiers seem to mutate into something more.
The evolutionary Family Tree as far as I piece it together: Imps => Gargoyles =>Prowlers =>Summoners => Hell Knights Hell Knights=> Barons of Hell => The Gladiator Barons of Hell=> Tyrants => Baal Demon "Cyberdemon" (maybe) "Every big starts small" I guess.

For your video analyzing the Gargoyle, you should bring up a few key details that you missed here: The design of the Prowler heavily resembles the design of the Imp in Doom 3, suggesting that the Prowler diversified off from the Imp. In Doom 3, there is a demon known as a Wraith, which heavily resembles the Gargoyle and has the ability to teleport. The main fan theory here being that Gargoyles are NOT related to the Imp family of demons, instead, they and the Wraiths are corrupted Argentians from Argent D'Nur. Several Sentinel texts describe what happened to weaker men who were exposed to Wraith energy, that they transformed into horrid monsters, and not only does something like a Gargoyle fit perfectly into the aesthetic of Argent D'Nur with them also being plentiful there, but the faces and skin of the Gargoyles look eerily human, or in this case Argentian. I also think it isn't an unimportant detail that a creature resembling the Gargoyle, the Wraith, shares its name with the 3 gods of the Sentinel people.
while Doom 3 isnt my favorite, i really like some of the designs, the fact that the fireballs are different maybe it's an reference to the Vulgar from 3 RoE? it's fireballs were cyan, while the rest were yellow
My Imp lineage theory: The Gargyole is separate but related species to the imp (as stated in the codex) Summoners are mature female imps (as indicated in the codex) Barons and Hellknights are related (as indicated by the codex ), but I think they are high ranking, mature male imps The Prowler could be another imp variant that hell engineered.
Dr. Richtofen the he’ll knight bears some similarities to the summoner. They have similar faces and colorscheme. The Baron of hell is very similar to the hell knight. Baron of Hell has similar dermal armour to the imp. Barons also manipulate argent in similar manner as imp.
I imagine that some of the more ancient demons we see in the Doom games seem to be an older generation of Demons from a race that was taken before the standard ones we see. The diversity in Imp like creatures could be from different species that evolved the imp format. The Demons in 2016 might be from the most recent race and a few of the ones in Eternal might just be Earth based ones since a few still have eyes like the Hell Knight. I personally think theyre closer related to pinkies, considering where the eyes seemingly used to be (thanks for pointing ut out) theyre very similar to the pinkies, this theory matches with how the pinkies spine is connected to the head, that they have the same colouring, and that they share the spiky spine. In conclusion, to me they seem like thinner and lankier pinkies. Great video btw! Its so entertaining and good as always, i love every single one of them
I think prowlers are basically juvenile pinkies but as they grow they lose their teleportain as when they fully mature into an adult they become more animalistic
NOOBGUY it’s pretty easy to accidentally try and chainsaw one of these guys in the chaos of battle especially on higher difficulties. I think it has more to do with their size than anything else. All of the other heavy demons stick out like a sore thumb because they are both recognizable and much larger than fodder stuff like imps and zombies. I know I’ve done it plenty of times.
@@aarongregory4980 what does it have to do anything on higher difficulties? enemies size or HP doesn't change they are just more aggressive and do more damage giving you less room to make a mistake
I honestly never understood confusing them for imps. Prowlers are larger, purple in color, have a unique face, behave different, sound different, and teleport with a distinct audio cue/ purple glow.
I think prowlers are probably nocturnal predators that hunted in forest's and woods using the tall trees as cover to close in on their prey unseen and then sneak attacking them or they may operate like wolves who will startle their prey and make them run into an ambush of wolves hiding in the fauna. Prowlers don't have a tongue and their jaws aren't lined up to grind meat so they use their jaws to cause massive bleeding and then they drink the blood by pouring it down their throats is my guess, so prowlers are like the vampires of the demons
The Prowler's abdominal area is exposed for a purpose , its for his Agility & for Flailing his Claws... Also contributes for climbing much like how a Hunter from L4D is agile. ( Basically makes him Flexible more often than if he had armor plating on the Abdominal Area which would make him more heavy & not as Flexible ). Another Note : this exposure of the Prowler's abdominal area is much like how the Centipede Claw creatures from Sekiro , how they swiftly Flail with their Claws to cut down basically anybody... So it does contribute in Agility & Attack swiftness , also helps in Jumping too. The Centipede creatures in Sekiro also bear a small lean abdominal structure while being exposed , but the only difference that the Prowlers dont have very long Arms like those Centipede's only slim skinny base structures with strong arms & legs. This is a form taken from a Mantis insect ( *Mantises have slim abdominal structures , but their money goes to their long Claws & firm legs* ). Had to put that out , since the Mantis is an excellent Assassin or Hunter while being a Swift predator much like this Prowler & the Long Arm Centipedes... Interesting huh ? 😅
I'm so happy to get more videos from you for October. I haven't been watching the live streams anymore because it's usually when I'm busy so I've missed this channel. Hope you and Bee are doing well!
Based on what I've seen from a number of your videos, there does seem to be a few species that the demons probably came from, one of them obviously being humans, but, the idea that both pain elementals and the other one that is a sphere (I don't remember how to spell its name) are the male and female versions of the same species makes a lot of sense, and the idea that imps, gargoyles, and Prowlers are either the same species at different stages and genders, or the idea that they're all related species holds alot of water, my personal favorite demons are the hell knight, the baron of hell, and the tyrant, they all appear to be either the same species, or a related species, along with the gladiator, I've gotten way more into biology thanks to you, and I've always wanted to be a paleontologist, knowing how to classify a creature will be very helpful, so thank you Roanoke, you've really helped me out, not only by what I just mentioned, but also by giving me light when I was feeling down and in the dumps, I truly can't thank you enough
Thank you for your detailed insight on this creature. I live in Australia and yes it's crazy here. There's always something new that'll kill us every week. This week its Corona, last week it was Ebola, and the previous week it was Delinquents threatening to gang up and stab me, seriously
I hate to be *that* guy, but the game does say that all demons were once human/humanoid. The Maykrs go from reality to reality, harvesting souls for Hell to convert to Hell energy, yadda yadda. However, there is some merit to your insectoid progenitor theory. Remember the movie District 9? The movie with the aliens that were basically bugs (they were even called Prawns because they looked like those). Maybe the Imp family is descended from those ancient bug aliens that the Maykrs harvested. Another thing to be noted about the Imps, Prowlers, and Gargoyles is that all their energy-based attacks are made by them. Obviously, it's because of the Hell energy coursing through them, but it's not out of the question. In District 9, the Prawns have advanced weaponry that can only be used by them. Humans attempt numerous times in the movie to wield Prawn weapons, but they can't because they aren't Prawn. Something similar may be happening with the Imps/Prowlers/Gargoyles. Their buggy ancestors could have had their weapons fused with them in a Lazarus Wave-type event and over time, due to a combination of evolution and Hell energy, the weapons became a part of their biology, enabling them to wield that power much like bio-luminescence on Earth. Enjoyed the vid, btw!
The Flying of the gargoyles and them stemming from an insectoid race makes sense when we look at ants here on earth. Ant Princesses and Princes are spawned with wings so they can go off and intermingle with other colonies' spawn during nuptial flights. So based on this it could by hypothesized that the imps, prowlers, and gargoyles are in fact the same species, but different castes. Imps the drones, Prowlers the soldiers, and gargoyles the princes/princesses.

Mick Gordon is an Australian composer, Australia was never touched by the demons, so the music you hear could be him, as he makes up the music as you go
I do think the prowler actually might have been shorter prior to the lazerus wave as the reasoning for its abdomen being exposed could be it being stretched out due to the 2nd more extreme changes brought on by the wave since The abdomen prior to this would have probably been less exposed and acting as a sort of 2nd layer of armor to protect the demon organs inside.
Can you do a video about the power and might of the Downstreamers from Manifold? They are definitely one of the most powerful versions of humanity in written fiction.

I have a theory that the imps and the prowler are from the same race but have gone through different changes like the cacodemon and pain elemental, I think the imps are the females and the prowlers are the males with the prowlers having more armour because they would be the ones doing the more fighting and the imps being the less aggressive, they even attack in similar ways but with the prowlers being the more physically strong they go in to close combat more often than imps do preferring too stay at far range, and their roars sound similar as well. @JimbobMcgeee no, the necromorph in question is also long and athletic. Googled it, it's the Stalker
Love the stalker
@@RoanokeGaming dead space 1 and 2 still look great, but they need a proper remaster or maybe enhancement for the new consoles.
Seems my Roanoke Senses were tingling,I didn't even see the notification..but something told me I had to come here.
I never noticed that Austrailia wasn't touched by demons. Those Emu's and Kangaroos must be really ferocious. Also I really hope you do some more Gears 4 and 5 videos!
I miss playing possession in Doom2016, it was infection from halo but you'd be turned into a prowler.
Awesome! Cheers
Glad you enjoyed it man!
The Only Thing They Fear is..... Australia
They must of though it was already conquered lmao
Argent energy isn't going to save you from Australian wildlife.
@@redfoxredfox6690 doomslayer is classified as “Australian wildlife” now.
Look at starship troopers arachnids
My solution to the prowler. Supershotgun meathook.
Prowler: *teleports*
Me with the meathook: "GET OVER HERE!"
I think it’s interesting how the Summoners are also related to imps and both the Summoners and Prowlers have a form of teleportation
Every other country in Doom Eternal: *on fire being attacked by demons*
Australia in Doom Eternal: what’s going on now?
I hate when I try to chainsaw this thing since it looks like a bigger imp
odd ı hear people saying they keep doing this yet ı never mistook them for an imp
I feel like 1 fuel unit should be enough
Finally another Roanoke video! Time to get my dose of feet!
Hope you enjoy it bro!
Ah, yes, the Cacaodemon. Devilishly delicious!
These are the videos I need right now to help with the day.
Hope you have a good day man!
Can't forget the other most brutal glory kill, we're he snaps the prowlers forearm, then impales it's screaming mouth with its exposed bone
I laughed when I played Doom Eternal and saw Australia was completely free of demons.
"because the last thing we need is a step-doomslayer showing up when this thing gets stuck in a wall."
That line performed a glory kill on my sides.
3:09 that "eviscerate pray" part is no joke. I was told that I fainted from the blood loss after my cat got hold of my wrist
You know what? I haven’t played 99% of the games you talk about but I still find the videos very fun and interesting somehow
You are the smartest CZcamsr i have ever watched.
I love that this demon came out as something new and there was something exactly like that in doom 3
Reminds me of the enemies from time splitters...
There's a series for you, timesplitters.
They know Sydney’s there to protect Australia, they dare not attack best girl
Watching the zooming in and out is giving me actual motion sickness that I don't get while playing Doom Eternal
the Demons saw the Man sized Tarantulas in Australia, and said "fuck that I'm out"
Same tho
I like the Predator spine removal execution, very nice.
Demons arriving in the Netherlands:
“Wait.., it’s all cheese?”
“Always has been.”
I get a feeling from this thing...
I havent felt this since... Dead Space?
The *twitcher*. He has returned.

Roanoke Gaming: I have a f**king Biology Degree and I'm going study you
I'm surprised that the Prowler was the next demon covered, but I am grateful and my day is so much better bc of this massive pink Imp being covered.
I'll have to watch that, it's a movie aye?
@@RoanokeGaming
It's a book series.
The summary is basically about humans who are over 10^117 years old and have ascended into godhood able to create over a infinite amount of timelines and mutiverses with ease so they can have more human civilizations become Downstreamers as well.
The Downstreamers are OP.
Prowlers are one of my favorite new demons! Also would love an arachnotron video!
YES! I've been waiting for this video!
Hope you enjoy it bro!
Speaking of doom, Doom 1, 2, 64 and 2016 are all on sell for ps4 they are fairly cheap so if you want to play them nows your chance
Oh nice!
Woah, Saturday video came early?
Yes! On my schedule this week haha
Yay a new video! I've been like looking through all your videos like all this week to see if there was anything new. I love your stuff!
Glad you are enjoying them! :)
@@RoanokeGaming 😁
I have a theory that the imps and the prowler are from the same race but have gone through different changes like the cacodemon and pain elemental, I think the imps are the females and the prowlers are the males with the prowlers having more armour because they would be the ones doing the more fighting and the imps being the less aggressive, they even attack in similar ways but with the prowlers being the more physically strong they go in to close combat more often than imps do preferring too stay at far range, and their roars sound similar as well.
But that’s just a theory, a doom theory, thanks for reading
