This was such a cool video idea!!! I agree that Maryellen doesn’t deserve as much hate as she gets. I love her collection!!
I ended up getting Tenney from a family friend and really like her! I used to play guitar, so I think it's awesome that her hand is modified for a pick. A little disappointed by how close her story/aesthetic is to Taylor Swift, though. Definitely seems like a marketing gimmick.
I also have Claudie and love her!! Her pajamas are adorable. Hoping to get Maryellen at the benefit sale next year- you've sold me on her haha
Isabelle is so pretty, too- I randomly got her at an antique store!

I found out I'm a casual AG fan today! It was fun to hear about the doll community's popular opinions. I don't engage with multiple social media platforms, so this is all new to me. I was somebody who was obsessed with thumbing through the catalogs from around 2009-2013 and the historical dolls were always my favorites. I can't say I ever got into reading the stories, but I loved the detailed clothing and period pieces. And despite having a few dolls, I didn't know that AG dolls don't have rooted hair lol.
Yeah AG dolls have wigs. It makes it easier to customize
Love this. I love when different doll people with different doll interests discuss dolls! Like I'm a primarily bjd focused collector but I still love to watch content about other dolls, be they fashion AG or anywhere in-between .
I mainly consume AG content but I've been watching more rainbow high videos lately. I also love watching videos about lesser known doll brands and their history
I got my Kanani in pieces. She was being sold as parts for customizing or repairs. The only thing missing was her wig, and I opted for a fantastic rainbow wig and I think it makes her stand out a bit more. My sister made her a dress similar to her meet dress in colors to coordinate with her wig.
I'm currently campaigning for my husband to get me Claudie for Christmas. I personally like the painted lashes, as my dolls don't sleep. I feel like it gives a bit more definition instead of just a chasm around the eyeball. But that's just me and I usually like a bit more glam to most of my dolls.
I think American Girl has been moving away from the classic mold with multiple post 2020 releases having unique molds. Maybe it’s just nostalgia for the older dolls but I haven’t really liked any of the new molds. Claudie especially, she looks so young. I wish she just had an Addy or Sonali mold. And her clothes represent the worst qualities of Beforever, they feel costume-y and cheap. It’s sad because I love the idea of historical dolls that are girls of color, but I’m not interested in her at all.

On the topic of the boys with the closed mouths: I think AG wanted to differentiate them from the customized boy dolls. Like to let people know that the boys with the closed mouths are made by AG, and the boys with the open mouths are customized by the fans. Maybe as a way to not confuse the customers or something? Lol I don't know.

Great video … In my opinion Claudie’s collection is extremely accurate , people keep bringing up Flapper , and yes it’s from that era , but Claudie is a child , she wouldn’t , and children from that era didn’t wear flapper style clothing ,,, if you research “Flapper” your ll understand why.

I agree! I love the boy dolls and I wish they would get more love. We don’t get a lot of boy dolls in anything besides action figures. I’m glad they released two boy dolls but I wish they would release some more clothing at least for them.
I like Tenney I have her. I also like the other two dolls you mentioned before her. I like the street chic dolls but I only like the ones with the colors mixed into the normal color. I like Corinne and Isabelle. I don't love Kanani but like you said if we find her used we can't pass her up. I can relate to you because I used to play that game all the time.
I really love Maryellen. I have several AG dolls and she is one of the most beautiful.
Regarding Claudie, I believe the original Harlem Fashion Row designs are a support for HFR. I have read her book. Her next book will take her out of Harlem as she learns more about herself and her family. I hope that future releases will include clothes and accessories that are appropriate for 10 year old girls during that time period. I am also among the people who would have preferred to see the focus on Claudie with the catalog through September and waited until October and the October catalog to release the new TM collection.

Hey! I love your videos. I feel like the colored hair doesn’t bother me that much because some girls do have colored hair. I can see why you don’t like them though, it’s almost like they are turning the new ag dolls into Barbie fairy dolls. Great video!

I got Kanani in 2011 right before I left the AG fandom as a teenager but I rejoined the community this year as an adult collector. Sadly, during my 10 years away, I sold my Kanani and a few other AG dolls, not thinking I'd become emotionally invested in my AG dolls ever again. HUGE regrets there! I'm glad the community remembers her so fondly and still covets her, she's gorgeous.
Ahh selling Kanani was definitely a big mistake because of how coveted she is. I know some people are not a fan of doll’s value going up but as a collector I think owning valuable dolls and items is fun haha

For off brand 18" I love myad at walmart.
The vinyl is good and the face sculpt is cuter than OG in my opinion.
But OG has better furniture and accessories ATM
I think the Harlem Renaissance is a great time period that is forgotten in modern history
We never learned about it in school (maybe cause I’m Canadian) but I only first heard of it a few years ago when Claudie rumours started

Just found you through Darling Dollz. Any advice for if I wanted to find an original doll? I really regret not catching the re-releases last year.
Thanks for checking out my channel! I’m not an expert about getting secondhand dolls, but I would check eBay or mercari. I heard with Facebook marketplace a lot of the buy and sell groups are collectors so the dolls will be more expensive. If you want pleasant company era it may be more expensive but if you want a Mattel era Kirsten for example you may be able to find some cheaper ones.

I had kannani a year ago and got rid of her. I loved her as a kid and was obsessed with getting her but when I got her I couldn’t connect with her and so I got rid of her. So she’s ok but not the best.
Im more of a casual fan of ag couse im not a big fan of porcelin looking dolls im more into dolls like barbie,bratz,ever after high,etc you know but i still love ag from sometimes

I personally love Maryellen she was my 5th doll and I love her collection I also like Claudie and Tenney I think she’s really pretty I’m not exactly sure if I’m a fan of Logan I think it’s cool that he’s a boy but I don’t see him I’m my collection. I’m not a fan of the street chic dolls I don’t like colored hair it just isn’t realistic I like natural hair. I have Corrine I agree that I’m not a huge fan of her blue hair but I think she is pretty and I love her sweater I’m curious what the next GOTY will look like. I don’t like Isabelle to be honest I just don’t see anything special about her I used to take ballet but idk like Logan I just don’t see her in my collection, but looking at her collection she’s starting to grow on me. I love Kanani I have her and I think she’s really pretty.

The 20’s style clothing is a modern take on 20’s fashion by the designer. Those 3 outfits are not part of Claudie’s collection. The pajamas and tap dance outfits are. I have a funny feeling there will be a school outfit, birthday outfit, summer outfit and Christmas outfit if AG follows what they did in the beginning. I think Claudie is a very pretty doll. I like all of the dolls and stories. I only have a small collection of dolls and a lot of doll clothing. I only have 35th anniversary Molly, Corrine and Courtney. I love the clothing that I got for all of my dolls and enjoy them a lot.
See Ag doesn't even have the separate historical books anymore like "Molly's birthday" so I don't know if Claudie will get the full historical wardrobe. I thought the Harlem fashion row stuff was modern pieces still considered part of Claudie's collection kind of like Kaya's outfits of today pieces.
@@AllycatlovesAG They don’t say Claudie’s flapper dress for 18” dolls. The clothing is only advertised as for 18” dolls. But, her pajamas and jazz outfits are advertised as Claudie’s pajamas for 18” dolls and Claudie’s jazz outfit for 18” dolls. The 3 designers dresses came out when Claudie did. So, I am not sure. I may be wrong about the rest of the collection coming out later with books. Because, I thought AG was getting back to their roots with the new historical dolls coming out. Also, the 3 new outfits looked way too modern and fancy for a child of the 1920’s. They look like something I would put on my Truly Me dolls. The pajamas and jazz outfits look more like something a child would wear.
honestly i kinda want Tenney, she reminds me of Taylor Swift like y'all mentioned, and i think a lot of the hate she gets is just from the whole Gabriela scandal, which is fair but there's nothing wrong with the doll itself imo.
Logan on the other hand i'm not a huge fan of, not just because of the Kaya mold but also because he looks like he would vote for Trump lmao

I have Tenney. She is super pretty. The only thing is, her hair is really long and wavy. Her hair got really frizzy really fast.
I think American doll looks more like a boy with out showing his teeth…His face is more mold like a boy … the old look doesn’t really cut it for me he looks to feminine, that’s my opinion…but too each is own…. I’m just curious where can I buy those American brown leather shoes they are so adorable… …
What shoes are you referring to? The tenney ones? I’m sure people on eBay are selling just the shoes of certain outfits. I’m honestly used to both boy dolls at this point
