People didn't stop loving rom-coms. Hollywood just stopped making good ones.
hunnerdayEDT 🧐 You got a point.
Remember Blockbusters also include a lot of merchandize thats why the studios don't care so much about RomComs.
Hence the dumbing down of American cinema.
Phenomenal movie. 5 stars.
This movie looks great. Like visually, it looks like it cost a lot more than it did to make.
Interesting that 2 of the biggest films this year will be Black Panther and Crazy Rich Asians.
More like Black Panther and Infinity War
Next stop: A live-action version of AKIRA with an all-Asian cast!
that would be AMAYZING!
"Hit" let's throw them in the convo with Black Panther.
Hard side eye.
starring young Chow Yun Fat.
Chow Yun Skinny ;)
Sum Yung Gai.
Wonder how many East Asian ticket buyers there are in the USA.
Almost 100% Hispanic cast Vida on Starz is a great show, worth watching.
I'm not an expert on Hong Kong movies, but I'm more familiar with Asian action movies than romantic comedies ( Japan's Tampopo is the exception.)
A good movie is a good movie, I couldn't care less what race the cast is.
But since I'm not Chinese, I'll wait till Crazy Rich Asians hits Netflix.
I think the concern trolls who are trying to make some kind of issue around this movie are hysterical!
D Mc I didn’t like the movie But it is deserving for ppl to go watch it at least.
Given the insane level of hype all the way back to winter/spring 2018 for Crazy Rich Asians I was under the impression that CRA was going to have a $85+ million opening weekend. Sure the film will make a tidy profit. Sure the film maybe a great cultural milestone. But wow are you blowing its weekend box office intake way out of proportion.
Stephen Atwood not when the last big romantic comedies only made $20 million or less
The $85 million and above opening weekend figures are generally experienced by action/fantasy/adventure blockbusters. I don't think there was ever a rom-com that opened close to that figure.
iTunes charts can never really be trusted. Especially when it comes to music because it is just a small percentage of where people get context from.
25 million for the weekend not 30 million you guys need to do your homework
Did you watch the video because that's not at all what they said.
@@dmc8092 much much more than Trainwreck so 26.5 million is more than 30.5 million good math on your part
the boys' club. It is a great movie to film amateur porn in the cinema. I do not say that I see those things!!!(God forbid) but you can shoot a long sequence without being interrupted 😎
Rom Com are mostly terrible. Terrible horror is still entertaining. Rom com needs to either get to that point or better ones need to be made
Terrible horror is NOT entertaining. It's tedious.
It was a decent rom-com; let’s relax a little
Ugh. Hollywood is already beholden to the Chinese market, and now they want to make movies with all Chinese casts? You can rest assured NONE of these movies will dare say anything critical about China.
LOL, this movie was poorly received by viewers in China. Americans of Chinese ancestry are not Chinese. They are Americans.
The American issues with identity are an American issue. Not ours.
Running on Empty the lead actor is a damn half bred Asian🤔 Asians should spit on this movie.
@TheSpiritOfTheTimes, the film has not been shown in China - no one over there has seen it yet. In fact, there is no release date announced. It will most likely not be released in China.
