My high school uses their “across the field march” for our fight song, and it was kinda funny because we were in the Michigan State University homecoming parade and we were told many times not to play it.
Amanda Stokes we play on the hill of the field and then do our chant, fight song, then run to our pre-game chart and then when we touchdown we play glory, glory
I love how they play while docking so that every ship/boat and person that's leaving and standing at the docks can hear them coming home and then someone sets off fireworks to welcome them home and people in thier community gather to cheer and welcome them back aswell. And people are sounding their ship's horns.😊🐉🐘 Is the entire population of Ohio gathered there?😞🐉🐘
From a former University of Alabama Million Dollar Band member... You guys are awesome! Very talented group! I have always enjoyed OSU's fight song! Trumpet salute!
In case anyone is wondering, this was for the 200th anniversary of a naval victory off of the very tiny island of Put In Bay, Ohio, in Lake Erie. Unless you own your own boat, this ferry is generally the only way on or off the island itself. The large crowds that managed to gather in spite of this were to help celebrate this once-in-a-century commemoration. The tall ship at 6:21 is a replica of the Us Brig Niagara, the hero of the battle itself. The battle flag used by the Americans, "Don't Give Up The Ship", is also plastered everywhere throughout the video. More information can be found here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Lake_Erie
Huge fan of the OSU Marching Band, i'm from the Netherlands and i'm planning on making a trip through the US of A and on of the things on my list to do is see this awesome band! Hopefully i see them within a few years from now
Good luck getting tickets to an Ohio State game. However, whether you do or not, you can always hit up the Skull Session which occurs 2 hours before kickoff. It's open to anyone. They run through all the music they'll play that day. It's a dress rehearsal/pep rally. If there's a visiting band, they will play too. Then if you do have tickets, make sure you get to your seat to see pre-game. Stay in your seat for halftime, and watch them during postgame, both on and off the field.
OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was on September 1st, 2013. The band was traveling to Put-In-Bay, Ohio, for the Bicentennial Celebration of the Battle of Lake Erie !!!!
Although a Rutgers alumnus Class of '59, I love the spirit of Ohio State U. The OU band is the greatest I have ever seen. Thanks for the joy you bring !
We were there and watched them land on the Island, & march through the Town. Later we sat and watched them play at the Monument. It was the highlight of our weekend. Now I'm so happy we were there that weekend, because my Big OSU fan, my husband, passed away 7 years ago this past Memorial Day weekend, but he was able to see His Buckeye Marching Band in person. He was thrilled. ❣️
Well this isn’t exactly Highschool Marching this is better, if you want something to compare to use DCI but those are like the pros, it’s like comparing the NFL to High School football
I love the Spirit all around them. Everyone was celebrating them. Unluckly i live in Germany so i just would see them once i visited the USA. So feed me more with those videos!
What this video reminds me of was being a kid in my home town. We had two grade schools, a middle school, and a high school. On homecoming the high school band and the parade would head past all the schools around the town and end up back at the stadium next to the high school and kids would be lead out to the side of the road to watch the parade pass. Even before you could see it you could hear the cadences and music echoing through the neighborhood. the whole parade route was just over 5 miles long. I eventually got to take part when I got to high school and while the way I had to carry my instrument for the parade really wore out the arm, it was always a blast and I loved it. Now well into my adulthood I still miss those parades. I don't know if they even do them anymore. But the sounds of the music in the distance just always excites me, i become a kid again.
TBDBITL! These young adults are having a blast! I’m having a blast watching them. Love the robust sound from the deck, sounds powerful with headphones. Thanks to all.
I’m part of TBDBITL and we’re very excited to perform at this event again on September 3, 2023! It will mark the Bicenten(+10)nial of the Battle of Lake Erie. Go Bucks!
So what was the occasion of Ohio State being in Put-In-Bay? Was this a pleasure cruise, or was Ohio state playing an in-state team (like Toledo or something)?
And it was a glorious fall weekend except the morning of the battle re-enactment(rain,wind). And somebody forgot to tell ICE as the tall ships were meeting🤣
Muito bom hein os cara toca muito parabéns,e parabéns aos maestros e suporte que cuidam desse pessoal todo que Maravilha se pudessemos ter bandas assim .parabéns
Okay honestly if it was brass it’s probably better if it fell in the water than on the ground cause if they were able to recover it probably all they’d have to do is replace the valves and the possible lost mouthpiece 😂
ryanjhamm Not really, it's just a statement of fact. I in a marching band and I'm jealous of their iPads, they are awesome. But I question how is me saying they do it with iPads a slam? Just because something is done with the assistance of a computer doesn't make it any less impressive.
Looks like Jon Waters playing tuba -- yes the same Jon Waters that was run out of his job (as the most innovative and talented Director TBDBITL ever had) by an Ohio State University administration seemingly determined to hang someone for not ending all ribald traditions immediately. This is a GREAT band representing a sometimes-ridiculously PC-lefty campus leadership. But that said, Go Bucks!
Mike is right. The Ohio State University, under the shitshow of Michael Drake, had turned our beloved alma mater, into a pussfest of epic proportions. Ohio State was built on an unapologetic grit. Today’s OSU doesn’t hold a candle to the days of yore.
Is there anything more American and more spirited than a University Band ! I'm not a Ohio State fan but this was absolutely great !
There's football and military.
+Joseph Ludwig Yes there is, but BOTH have bands!
seamus1956 Incorrect. The BAND has football teams and the military.
1951RKP I want to go to Ohio state university
I sat in the visitors section with 4,000 VT fans- all amazed adoring fans of our band. TBDBITL🇺🇸
I thought band members couldn't sing lol thats why i was in band
Tyler Brown 😂
Musicians can ;)
in my band we sing the alma mater and such (actually learn the words/notes etc) and we have some great singers
lol I play cymbals we can't sing ;0
For the Bluecoats we have to sing.
My high school uses their “across the field march” for our fight song, and it was kinda funny because we were in the Michigan State University homecoming parade and we were told many times not to play it.
dylan selles same, and we came up with our own words for the song, and everyone at the game sings along.
A_Man_Da 0808 oh nice we also use it
@@dylanselles3743 funny thing, our school's fight song is Victors. We're a high stepping band based on the university of mn
Amanda Stokes we play on the hill of the field and then do our chant, fight song, then run to our pre-game chart and then when we touchdown we play glory, glory
missed opportunity in my eyes

No the island is not very big.
They were not going home
imagine being a casual passenger and hearing this band playing sing music all day long
Imagine just being out on a different boat and just seeing a boat come past yours with an entire marching band on it XD
I NEVER GET TIRED OF SEEING THIS !!!! THIS IS THE BEST DAMN BAND IN THE LAND AT ITS FINEST !!!!
From a former University of Alabama Million Dollar Band member... You guys are awesome! Very talented group! I have always enjoyed OSU's fight song! Trumpet salute!
Roll Tide!!
Love Bama's tradition too! GO BUCKS. ROLL TIDE!!!
Love how marching band brings people together🎺😄

Ohio State Band is an American treasure!
OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was on September 1st, 2013. The band was traveling to Put-In-Bay, Ohio, for the Bicentennial Celebration of the Battle of Lake Erie !!!!
I'm southern (UNC is my team) and my husband is Ohio through & through. Don't tell him I love the band!
If I ever become a band teacher, this is the video I'm showing them
The trumpet player at 4:16 playing Hang On Sloopy is my old band director if I'm not mistaken! He works at the University now.
Kat Canner woah!😂
He's my high school band director now!
Although a Rutgers alumnus Class of '59, I love the spirit of Ohio State U. The OU band is the greatest I have ever seen. Thanks for the joy you bring !
Hy Kleinman RU!!
Who doesn't think this is so incredibly truly awesome! I wish I could see something like this! How amazing!!!

Friend: Hey what does your band do to travel
Me: Well you see
Every time I watch something I like this, I always hope they start playing pirates of the Caribbean.
This makes me feel so ready to go into highschool marching band!! YEAH BASS!!!
Well this isn’t exactly Highschool Marching this is better, if you want something to compare to use DCI but those are like the pros, it’s like comparing the NFL to High School football
This is my kind of Army

Awesome ! I spend more time on you tube watching these guys than anything else. Love the Traditions. Title well deserved.

That was SWEET! I know it took place 4 years ago. But OHIO always outdoes itself. Great Traditional Sounds of AMERICA.
Fantastic, Nick! Thanks so much for sharing this!
They don’t call them the best damn band in the land for nothing. AWESOME!
there's NOTHING like a marching band & OSU us the BEST
I love the Spirit all around them. Everyone was celebrating them. Unluckly i live in Germany so i just would see them once i visited the USA. So feed me more with those videos!
Amazing energy, I smiled through the whole video!
Imagine being at the marina and looking out toward the water to see a marching band on a barge.
I'd be shook. GO BUCKEYES!

Simply Wonderful! Happy New Years from Denver. You guys (and ladies) are amazing!!
This is great....and I'm. Michigan fan!!!! Awesome!
The BEST professional university marching band, EVER!!!

Lifetime memories for every soul on board.
Some of the best times of my life was in band and DCI. In the rest of my life I never had anything as joyous.
My heart is so happy watching this. Thank you. ❤
I huge Ohio State fan and I'm planning on going to Ohio state university sometime soon this decade and I'm also going to be in the marching band there
I was there. It was amazing. The bicentennial celebration.

Amazing! You make me want to go to Ohio!
I vacationed there Independence Day 2019, great place to stay and history abounds!
As a math major, I can tell you this looks 100x easier, and more fun.
I love seeing the high step. That's how we marched at UConn when I was there in the late 70s.
Every non band people: band is so lame
Ohio's band: pretty much having more fun then them
Oof this is ehy band people get so much bad rep
I guess so
Imagine driving a boat while having a great time enjoying the music
Now that is the kinda boat I want to be on!!
This is one of the coolest things I have ever seen!
nice playing I'm only in highschool but still I would have loved to been on that ferry
Awesome. My grandson starts at WU School of music this fall (trumpet). We are so excited! He wants to be a music teacher.
I would of loved to be on this Ferry!

Fantástico tudo isso... Congratulations from Brazil
Just totally cool!!! Wish I could have seen them person but so happy they shared this! O H I O. !!
This is so neat, especially for a college band like Ohio State. Who thought of this? Im jealous!!!
The best damn band in the land, The Ohio State University Marching Band. It was great when I was at OSU 60 - 64 and it is even better today.
SUCH A COOL BAND!!
That would have been a good opportunity to make an amphibious landing on Xichigan and capture AA
awesome go band!!!!
Imagine if one of the Bass Drummers on the edge had loose grip of their Stick and accidentally threw it overboard.
Izzy Sandiego they have straps on their fingers
Don't they have extra in their kit?
A very very cool idea 😍👍👍👍
Oliver Hazard Perry would've been awestruck !!!!! DONT GIVE UP THE SHIP !!!!!!!!
Two of my favorite things TBDBITL & Lake Erie! Love It!
"We are the buckeyes and we are killer nuts"😂

That's just awesome
What happened at 3:42 ? Hope nothing fell of the boat..... those instruments look very expensive
Most, if not all the trumpets are Bach straddle, so yes very expensive. Would I march with a Bach, no, more King trumpet myself.
BaronVonPanzer Jupiter
tstanton_ _ I believe they hit the ground
@@baronvonpanzer6594 I prefer the horn I've used from the beginning of my time as a musician, a Yamaha.

Im in band and we freaking love to sing and im also in boy scouts which we surprisingly sing ALOT
omg i love this. this band is literally like my tiny high school band multiplied a few times XD
Clifton band?
I'm not a fan of there football team but I'm a big fan of there marching band😍
We are the buckeyes, we are killer nuts!!
This sound fun.
Pretty sweet.
This is on the top 5 merican list just below the us marine corps semper fi and just remember kids don’t give up the ship
I LOVE the OSU Marching band! You guys are so talented, it's beyond me how you do it every game. Keep it up! Much love from Toronto!
iPads, they do it with iPads.
Pikcube what do you mean?
Each band member has an iPad that they use to learn their drill and music. NBC did a story on it a while back.
Pikcube So what, is that meant to be a slam?
ryanjhamm Not really, it's just a statement of fact. I in a marching band and I'm jealous of their iPads, they are awesome. But I question how is me saying they do it with iPads a slam? Just because something is done with the assistance of a computer doesn't make it any less impressive.

I love band.
2:20 "Shake that a**" 😂
at 2:33 I almost thought they were playing "A spoonful of sugar" from original Mary Poppins.
Ahh, Put In Bay, I wonder if they sounded that good on the march back on the boat. Ill bet the Beer Barrel and the Round House was a rock'n
I'm an Aztecs fan, however the buckeyes are good to! 👌
that would have been fu*king amazing to see
Another reason they are called the best damn band in the land. Go Bucks!!!
gotta love school spirit
So sweet
Very cool.
It's Missing " We Don't Give a **** for the Whole State of Fichigan!"
8:44 Can someone tell me who is, originally, behind the resumption of this military march ?
