  • 17 years to the day after making the first 900, Tony Hawk pushes himself to the breaking point and battles through this personal goal. Tony says this might be his last 900 ever. His determination and drive are just as admirable as making the trick. Congratulations.

@Mannie Illescas You are right. I am not fat. Most people think that I do sports on a regular basis because I have the right body shape. But I am really a weakling. Last week I was doing sports for the first time after 7 years (I am 32 now). What can I say? After 15 minutes I nearly passed out and I had to stop (and they needed to bring me something to drink). That was quite emberassing, but I have learned my lesson. And now I am doing at least a little sport every day.
I am starting with running at my local street. Only a tiny bit. But I hope that I can restore my condition piece by piece.
Wish me luck, I need it.

I come back to this video every now and then to remind myself of aging. I remember being in my teens and taking crazy slams. I remember being in my early 20s and taking crazy slams. Now I'm in my late 20s and even though being in decent shape, any big spill will have me in serious pain for days. This man was nearly 50 and could do something very few people on earth could possibly fathom in their prime. What a king

I don’t even watch people skate but I did play the Tony Hawk game as a kid. But it’s something so legendary about how he landed that and then kicked his skateboard off when he finished and slid on his knees down the ramp and took off all his gear that just made it seem so epic and accomplished.

The starkness of this video is impactful, especially the abrupt ending. Way more meaningful than if there'd been a protracted celebration scene and unnecessary trite interview after. (Not that it looks like he would've put up with that anyway, and good on him for that.)

1:19 that was a HARD slam. I know from experience how much that hurts (although obviously i wasn't trying 900's). Perfect example of why helmets are absolutely essential when doing big air tricks. He will be feeling that tomorrow for sure LOL. Also a testament to his commitment and determination. A hard slam like that really knocks your confidence levels.
