- 17 years to the day after making the first 900, Tony Hawk pushes himself to the breaking point and battles through this personal goal. Tony says this might be his last 900 ever. His determination and drive are just as admirable as making the trick. Congratulations.

so he just came, did a 900, then left? thats hardcore
Looks like it took him a couple hours to make it happen. I think he was frustrated and wanted to get off the ramp. At almost 50, just landing this is bonkers.
Im sure he still skates daily on all his home built half pipes and stuff. Its not like hes 80. He can skate just as fine as anyone else. 👍👌

@@pedrosilvamusician I can relate to that.
I am 27 and this is me.
@Mannie Illescas You are right. I am not fat. Most people think that I do sports on a regular basis because I have the right body shape. But I am really a weakling. Last week I was doing sports for the first time after 7 years (I am 32 now). What can I say? After 15 minutes I nearly passed out and I had to stop (and they needed to bring me something to drink). That was quite emberassing, but I have learned my lesson. And now I am doing at least a little sport every day.
I am starting with running at my local street. Only a tiny bit. But I hope that I can restore my condition piece by piece.
Wish me luck, I need it.
He threw that fuckin' helmet at mach speed.
fuckin right? the strap ripped off he threw it so hard lmao
Nah, I thought that at first too but watch it at .25 times speed, it was a chunk of the helmet.

He first had to fill the "Special meter".
That wouldn't have done it. A bunch of bails and a grab wouldn't fill the special meter. No matter, you don't have to be special to do a 900 if you get enough air you can just use the triggers or stick to rotate enough to do a 900. Special 900 is cooler looking though, especially in the new THPS1+2 coming out in September, it looks like the real 900.

Tony lands 900 at 48

"Alright that's enough skating for the month"

I feel like most of my life I’ve been watching slow motion video or highly edited videos of Tony doing the 900. Something about watching a wide shot at full speed give me a whole new level of respect for the Birdman. This was epic and Tony is still a hero of mine
This was so much more emotional than the first one. We really saw him beat himself up, question WTF he was doing and embrace his son. The emotions running through him seem to range from frustration to determination to anger, love and relief. Life in one trick.

If you know your limits you don't need them.
That's a good way to end up paralysed, pretty sure Tony knows his limits, and he still wears pads, because you can still fail as a pro, just look at that bail at 1:09, if he hadn't been wearing a helmet, that was a concussion, possible brain damage.

I don’t even watch people skate but I did play the Tony Hawk game as a kid. But it’s something so legendary about how he landed that and then kicked his skateboard off when he finished and slid on his knees down the ramp and took off all his gear that just made it seem so epic and accomplished.
The starkness of this video is impactful, especially the abrupt ending. Way more meaningful than if there'd been a protracted celebration scene and unnecessary trite interview after. (Not that it looks like he would've put up with that anyway, and good on him for that.)
The perseverance is impressive. Those were some hard falls he took.
