I know this video is old as shit but i gotts throw down a comment. Ive been riding a long time. Had my share of harleys, Hondas, kawasaki's, suzukis etc. At the time this happened i had a 06 honda vtx 1800. I met an old dude om the interstate riding a 96 gl1500 that was canary yellow. We both pull off an exit, swung into a gas station and got a drink, shot the shit, exchanged phone numbers and checked out eachothers bikes. Rodney informed me that that old gl1500 makes him money from young bucks all the time. Rodney was about 65, missing half his foot, slightly over weight and seemed batshit crazy. He told me he bets people that he can ride a wheelie from 1st to 5th gear on the old goldie without putting the bike down between shifts. I was skeptical but i didnt bet him. He seen i was skeptical too but neither of us pressed the issue. Asked where i was headed and i said birmingham then catch 65 and head north. Told me he would ride with me till i turned off. Rodney pulled out first, i followed him and we hit the get on ramp. Rodney downshifted that bike to first, pulled the front tire up past 45 degrees and accelerated all the way up the ramp, shifting gears the entire time and the tire didnt come down once throughout his shifts. May you rest in peace Rodney. Thank you for the experience and the story that i am able to tell for many years to come.

Last time I was at the dragon tail, at one point it was my friend in his c5 vette, my cousin on his almost identical goldwing to this one, and myself on my Vmax. My friend in the corvette absolutely could not get away from us. The goldwing out accelerated and out cornered it no doubt about it. My cousin was scraping nearly every corner one handed while waving at all the people taking pictures like it was no big deal lol. Personally I think they're ugly as sin, but are really awesome motorcycles.

you want a 94 or newer. They had a stronger 4th gear shift fork. Bent shift forks is what will kill most gl1500's. They addressed the problem in 94 and beefed up the shift fork. I have an '89, and they are the best running Carborated bikes I've ridden. Dependable as a box of hammers. Just buy one that runs good when you start, change the timing belts and fluids and it will be good to go. Little blue smoke on start up, (left bank, kickstand side) is totally normal.

There’s no reason that car drivers can’t see a big bike.

I am in the U.K and back when I was riding I was the Head Warehouseman for Apache Leathers. We did some Post sales but mostly supplied Motor Cycle Shops. I had a Yam 250 which I bought Dressed. The bike was originally dark blue but it was Dressed All in White so ask any one and they would say I had a White bike? I rode all year round and ended up with a Dayglow Yellow insulated Trouser and Jacket like our Police wear. Black Derry Boots (Posh lined wellingtons with built in plate in the sole. A White open face Helmet because I wear glasses? Would you believe I still had a couple of near misses and they said they hadn't seen me? On a open road T junction?

I've owned gen 1 6 and now gen 2 6. Gen 1 was the best overall iteration. Should have just put the new power plants into this frame. Gen 1 considerably the most ergonomic. Liked the extra 200 plus pounds as well. I canyon carve the Rockies every year and get great pleasure out of the kiddies with super crotch rockets disappear in the mirrors..Has to be stopped in neutral.

No way! Those are awesome. Made in China, right? That's the only bad part of the new ones. My old pair from college were from the good old days of real Made in England quality-- which is an oxymoron. Either way, nice boots and thanks for your words of wisdom on each video. Don't ever stop. Jesus is Lord. Peace!
