Prince was supposedly drinking that night. He also had no idea that column was just a prop. Anyway, what is 5 minutes of flubbing compared to 40 years of brilliance?

It's simple man.
First off Prince wasn't a performing entertainer like MJ, so he didn't have the sudden moonwalk and footwork tricks to show. All his moves are physically demanding like the splits, which you have to warm up for beforehand otherwise you'll hurt yourself.
Second off Prince just wasn't ready for performing. Imagine if you went to a James Brown concert and JB called you up to show the crowd something, what would you do in such situation? lol 😂
