This was my mothers favorite song and it reminds me of her. I really like these old gospel songs and glad to see you do too. I have a lot more of them to post. Thanks for the compliment.

I found out about this song while looking through my record collection with my mother. I asked her to pick any one she wanted. I played it and she fell in love with it. She never heard it before. It's now her favorite song.

Another great post. It was my grandmother favorite song. I know its' strange, but this song reminds of the 70's hit "Woodstock". The refrane "And we got to get back to the graden" My reply is "Yes we do have to get back to the garden. But the way back to only through Him who made it in the first place. "TheSon of God" Thanks for posting Have a great Thanksgiving pax41. I'm begging to feel young again.

Today is March 1, 2012. It was 100 years ago this month that Charles Austin Miles wrote "In the Garden". I also have the same record disc that is being played here. It is one of my most prized possessions. Mr. Rodeheaver and Mrs. William Asher performed many duets at the time this was recorded. As far as I know, this is the first of countless recordings in the last 100 years of this timeless song, which will always be one of the Gospel Greats.

I've recently started collecting 78's and someone on a Facebook group brought this video to my attention. Thanks for putting this up here. I needed this tonight.

These old acoustics are not too bad to clean up if they have not been abused. Have lots more to post and have you listened to my playlist of the ones I have posted>

Thank you for sharing. It's a beautiful song.
I have now one more original covered by Elvis.
Do you have "An Evening Prayer" by Homer Rodeheaver (1913) ?

Do you have a record of Homer Rodeheaver and Henry Burr singing Where the Gates Swing Outward Never. I can't find it anywhere here.

I do have that record but my copy has some water damage to it. It won't have good sound quality to it. It's an electric with them singing with the organ. I quite like this recording and wish I could find a better copy.

@pax41 No problem: I've been trying to find it for years, so a few more weeks will not matter. If you should be able to find and scan the label, I shall be most grateful. Thank you.

I used to have a version with just an organ playing (electrically recorded) that I like better.

@menelise I own all the 78's that I post. I can' t promise how fast I will get around to this. This record is among the hundreds that are not filed via a system. Could take me weeks to locate.
