      also, to add on to what i said, even if he is still "alive' somehow in a form other than glitchtrap, it happened in the fazbear frights series first. in "the man in room 1280" story, the Afton is literally a melted corpse kept alive only by brain activity, being tormented by the book's version of Cassidy, "the one he shouldn't have killed." It's a parallel to Ultimate Custom Night, which confirms he's not actually dead in it, but he's essentially in a coma being infinitely traumatized, meaning if he were to beat it, he would still be alive. It's not really confirmed in SB, but it is kind of hinted that Glitchtrap is just in his body controlling it, hence why he has purple eyes, but from a lore perspective it's kind of uncertain because of what I said before.

    It seems like the general consensus on Security Breach is that they had a spectacular concept with unique locations, fun characters and a decent story that they totally fumbled, which is a real shame. I think even if done correctly, i personally would have disliked the game regardless. The bugs and missing content were only one side of why I don't like security breach. The main reason is the entire direction it's taking fnaf in is not what made me fall in love with the series in the first place. In fact, its the complete opposite. The game isn't scary, and is actually very kid friendly as opposed to the dark and ominous feeling and lore of something like fnaf 1.

      @@ballisticbiscuit5706 I mean, based off the trailers the game isn’t as close to as “scary” as it was supposed to be. I think they should’ve played more with the liminality of an empty mall, and the feeling of being hunted, maybe tone down the voice lines and get rid of the staff bots, for starters. I think having Freddy as a companion is fine but would need tweaking to make him less powerful or more of a hazard to use.

    But like…it isn’t? The game doesn’t have compelling lore or a fun narrative, both of which are VITAL for a solid FNAF game. Every ending is disappointing and the comic strips take away from any actual impact they might’ve had. 99% of gameplay is “walk here! OOPS! actually, walk there now! OOPS i meant over there!” Collectibles do jackshit. There’s nothing to interact with so it’s a bunch of empty, albeit, aesthetically pleasing, space. There’s no tension or actual horror, and security bots are used as a lame attempt to up the stakes. I could go on and on and on.

    I feel like this game is more of a mixed bag, they nailed the atmosphere and the animatronics but they messed up the horror elements,the ai, and overall the game needs polish and better optimization. And I feel like the fnaf franchise isn’t suited to the open world genre since the main part of the horror in fnaf is the claustrophobia that it has when being confined to a single room. I feel like they could’ve made the game better with more time and overall make it more polished.

    My main problem with the game is that it just isn't scary and takes too much from the other games without using it. For example, the camera system. The cameras are basically what FNaF is built on, and throughout the game you use the cameras once or twice. The Pizzaplex is too bright, and the animatronics just aren't intimidating. Games like Alien: Isolation make you feel pretty powerless against the enemies, but in SB all you do is press Q, wait a few seconds, and press E. I love the idea of a FNaF game being free-roam, but it takes away from other things. Games like A:L and the Outlast games almost perfect this, but SB just kinda... does too much with something without doing enough with another. The game really had potential, but it's just like they kinda forgot what made FNaF... well, FNaF. Hopefully in some later content they were talking about the game gets scarier. I think FNaF is going more towards kids gameplay wise, which is good and bad.

    • @you_gullible_fucc
      @you_gullible_fucc Před 2 lety +14

      I was wondering if they could've had more success with the pizzaplex if they went for a more "liminal-space" horror atmosphere. We all have some fear of being in a mall when it's closed, or being in a space so huge that is supposed to be full of people but isn't. Yet I feel none of that with SB. Maybe it's because they packed it too much with staff bots, maybe it's because they didn't really consider a good horror ambient light, but I think it would've been a huge improvement had they gone that way.
      See the game Superliminal. That game has quite a number of open areas, and many rooms even share similarities to the different rooms in the pizzaplex. But while it's not a horror game, it definitely nailed some horror parts, and that's because of how the light and the space and the lack of other entities create this atmosphere of liminal space.

    Security Breach is so unfinished that literally before a whole week it needed a patch, that’s not supposed to happen with a game unless no one had every tested the game. Not to mention the many of many of bugs, even after the patch there were still bugs, Hell with bugs before the patch people could beat the game before 10 minutes, which shouldn’t happen in a really popular franchise as FNAF. The game has so much potential for improvement, like with Burntrap but it just seems like a minor side villian. The game seems so lazy that nothin was done with any of the potential and I wish the people at steelwood would’ve given more thought into it, like taking more time on the game to improve and fix all of the bugs.

    It pains me to agree with this video especially after holding this franchise so close to my heart for so many years. I think the atmosphere of the pizzaplex is amazing and the visuals are stunning (when the textures load lol) and the amount of art and easter eggs to fan games and shit is amazing. They put all this time into small details and somehow neglected literally everything else, the AI sucks, the endings suck (although, the endings for fnaf games are usually pretty abrupt) and it just feels rushed like you said. I hope they can optimize and fix the bugs in an update. It feels like they ran out of budget and just threw the game out, hopefully with the sales and 40 dolla price tag they can pour more time into it. Also, its barely even a horror game lol.

      I really hope we get some sort of content update to put in exactly what foekoe said, interactivity. The main reason the game feels so empty and aimless is because there’s really nothing to _do_, and nothing directly points you in the direction of where you need to go like a linear title. Honestly, the plot and the gameplay feels like a tug-o-war at itself a lot of the time, as while the story is supposed to be about surviving the night and eventually figuring out the secrets of the pizzaplex, the gameplay is mostly running around empty environments from setpiece to setpiece, kinda like a Call Of Duty campaign
      If I was put in charge of creative direction for some update or DLC to this game, I’d make almost every current item interactive in some capacity. Plushies make a squeaky noise when you press E on them, bumper cars and be drove and bumped into animatronics and whatnot, the arcade cabinets should have short little minigames within them, and so on and so forth.
      Also, the story should really interconnect with the game world a lot more, we should’ve had some sort of thing where we have to play the game every animatronic’s area is based around, like Roxy’s raceway or Monty’s minigolf. It’s like that one speedrunner said, “Just give me a golf club and set me loose with Monty!”
      Hell, I think fighting back the animatronics could’ve used a huge rework. Instead of Monty and Roxy just being _led_ into certain areas, a better idea would be to tie it back into their respective areas. You get monty’s hands by hacking them off on a golf windmill or something, you get Roxy’s eyes by running her over, that sorta thing
      ~~Chica still eats garbage and dies though that’s too fucking funny~~
      Anyway, yeah, we probably won’t get any of this, but dear god the sheer amount of potential wasted makes me so sad. If someone could decompile the game and make some sort of mod API for it, I’d be all over that

      Literally nobody could play the game without some sort of bug or glitch happening and ruining immersion, it's not being ignored. I swear some of y'all are elitists and think gen z (why even target gen z specifically?) don't have enough nuance to understand that the game is both terrible, but have some still find it enjoyable.
      I hate how Afton is brought back as this glitch when FFPS wrapped things up so cleanly. I hate how Vanny, our supposed replacement for Springtrap, had little to no presence in the game. I hate how so much of the game's mechanics, places and storytelling were scrapped and what we got was a husk of the game we paid for. I hate that there's no scary part that occurs at all, the "scary" parts were more thrill than anything.
      And yet, that doesn't mean I didn't find many parts enjoyable. I like the spin they put on this game. Many people argue that it's too far from it's predecessors, but you can only come up with so many traditional Fnaf gameplays before it goes stale. An animatronic that actually helps us is guaranteed at some point given how long the series has been running, we've even sort of wanted it to happen with the foxy theory way back in fnaf 1. I love the nuance they put in the characters that make them eerily human. I love the designs and the aesthetic of the new animatronics.
      We all really have valid reasons to hate/love the game. But what I hate the most about the fnaf community aren't the younger fans with daddy issues, it's the stuck ups who think that anybody who can like something that they see as bad is somehow inferior to them. You see it with people shaming new fans, people shaming those who like fnaf but aren't in it for the lore, or couldn't bother to understand it, people who just like talking down on other people in general man. Just quit it. Let people find happiness in the game regardless of the quality jeez. (Also yeah this is a long rant, suck it, I'm fed up with how many times I've seen fnaf gatekeepers since SB came out)

When I entered Bonnie Bowl, I was hoping for some cool lore bits or just anything really. Instead you walk in and out with nothing but a single freddy voiceline about Bonnie. Its like... why did I go there at all?! There's such a wonderful open environment, but nothing in it besides those stupid presents. The music man section was the best of the game by far. There were the least amount of bugs for me, and it all flowed really well with the ramping music , rushing me and giving me that feeling of dread. I just wish more was actually good. Vanny was just thrown out the window too. I think I saw her roaming twice ever? Another thing, why did we even get the gun/camera? They're supposed to make progression easier but just become worthless. The only use for it after long enough is Chica, but she's also the only one you can just outrun without issue. It feels like little thought went into the experience, and all of it went into the atmosphere, because the way I felt walking around was pretty damn cool. Seeing as she is the main antagonist of Security Breach I expected to see her roaming the mall looking for Gregory and not just the main four animatronics looking around. Also another thing is how the heck is William, in his Springtrap suit, in this game? I thought that his Springtrap suit got burned up during Pizzeria Simulator when Henry burned the place down, and there's no way that the Glitchtrap suit got burned and charred and then he suddenly grew meat and bones like he did IN Pizzeria Simulator. Also, even if fnaf considered as a horror game, I only considered it as suspense or thriller (idk the word, I'm not good at english vocabulary) so maybe that's also why I'm not that dissapointed and actually enjoyed it even if I'm also as a long time fnaf fan. ... The elevators ARE the loading screens. The problem is that so much crap is not unloading OR stuff that needs to be loaded is to much and just not optimized since that takes quite allot of work to pull off. And since Unreal engine is what it is the results are quite obvious. Even on the PS5 (fast storage) textures are not managed well. Textures chaining on like a generator is just broken since they are not prioritized ect. It is all down to rushed bad game design. And possibly Unreal Engine being overwhelmed with just to big of a task (agen down to devs not giving a dam about working around performance)

    • @anecro
      @anecro Před 2 lety +4

      There obviously are loading zones and you can clearly tell where as the game stutters and freezes like crazy, but the issue this game has is that some zones are massive and very populated with assets and I would imagine that nothing unloads even if you're not looking at it, which most games do.

This seems to be one of the reasons why modern games always come out half-baked nowadays. There is always the pressure of releasing a game as quickly as possible whilst having little to no regards for the state of the game or the dev team behind it. Modern games really should make it a habit of fully developing a game or nearly full before announcing it to the public.

Always makes me laugh when people are crying over the unknown state of GTA 6, they'll get it when it's ready. It's not like GTA haven't had enough of games in the last 2 decade, hell, even GTA Online still producing some nice free contents for years even if the price of the content is absurdly high for in-game currency. (Still controversial among the community, but I personally doesn't mind the high prices of in-game stuff there. The mode was originally created and purposed for multiplayer play, of course it's tough for solo or antisocial players.)

    I haven't played the game so I'm not the best guy to judge it, but to me it really looks like a game with a lot of potential and made by talented people but too ambitious for a team the size it is and the time it got.
    So many parts of the game such as the optimization, the ai, the security bots, the endings, how much you can interact with the seemengly fun stuff within the big map, the glitches and succesfully directing the player towards the next objective could have definetly turned out way better with time
    I doubt the devs would have relied so much on security bots if they had the time to think about and realize more creative game design solutions to fill out the map.
    I doubt they intended the ai to be this bad and to resort to randomly spawning animatronics and stuff like that.
    I'm pretty sure they would have made the endings much more cohesive and satisfying if they had the proper time to think how to implement them into the story of the game.
    That said, Security Breach wouldn't probably have been perfect even in the ideal scenario I described, but it could have been so much better, and some of its flaws such as the open ended space could have been its biggest strenghts instead (for example, an open map could have made tou feel uncomfortable being so wide open to attacks on any possible directions)
    Edit: I know It's an unrealistic expectation, but I really wish this game gets reworked on the same way as fnaf world years ago

    For me, one of my favorite aspects of Five Nights at Freddy's is the atmosphere and genuine tension in these games. You look at every single FNAF game before this one at the atmosphere and tension the looks themselves give you makes you chilled from how decayed, rusty, and dark the games look, hell even Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator gets this atmosphere correctly in its nighttime mode even though the game is funny and goofy during the day. Then you look at Security Breach and it honestly feels like some sort of furry fanfiction for FNAF instead of an official game made by Scott Cawthon, the pizzeria looks like it's someone's fanmade idea for a FNAF area without knowing what makes the pizzerias work, all the animatronics talk and have characteristics which makes them feel like less of a threat and more like someone's furry OC, Freddy acts like your friend which honestly feels like it's an idea ripped from someone's fanfiction, the animatronics' voicelessness in previous games made them scarier, they didn't have characters and even when they did the atmosphere around them makes it still feel scary. When you beat the crap out of the animatronics you don't feel relief that they've been damaged like how you feel when you kill Jeff in HL: Alyx, no you instead feel guilty that you hurt them because they have characters. Horror antagonists aren't supposed to be goofy characters, with personalities and feelings, they just don't inflict any fear whatsoever, there's no tension, no anticipation, it's just a Disneyland character jumping in your face for 2 seconds before the game over screen, it doesn't make you feel scared when you die, it's just frustrating.

What was always fun with every game being released was the fans making their own personalities for the animatronics. Now, we canonically got a wolf with self esteem issues in a bikini, a father figure Freddy, etc. it doesn't feel the same. it feels fanservicey, like they're trying to make these weirdly sentient robots relatable just to make more money.

    • @thecrazedpotatoman
      @thecrazedpotatoman Před 2 lety +4

      I kinda disagree about the enemy animatronics having personalities lessening the tension (as if there was much tension anyway), mainly because there isn't really a lot of it. I guess you could make an argument for Roxanne since she could be seen as having social problems or something, idk I just see her as a narcissistic asshole, but the other two? Monty is kinda a psycho, and Chica uhhhhhhhh she likes pizza? I don't really have a problem with Freddy or Sun (specifically Sun, not Moon) having personalities since they aren't really a threat to begin with (the few times Freddy can kill you is really cheap tbh).
      I'm not trying to defend this game by any means though. Even taking the fact that it's a FNAF game out of the equation, you have a giant confusing map that while pleasing at first, becomes annoying as time passes; more STAFF bots than there are people on the planet, the tedious "go from point A to point B" gameplay making up 75% of the pie, the INFURIATING end game, and most of all the cesspool of bugs, makes for one of the most disappointing and unfufilling experiences I have ever gone through in a while.

    It break my heart to say this as i was really looking forward to this game and am a big fan of the series, but i completely agree with you. I was practically forcing myself to play through the game after a certain point. The story is too vague for its own good and just stops halfway through, the gameplay is mediocre at best and barely functional at worst, many great opportunities were wasted, the visuals can look great assuming they load in before you're stuck in a wall, the AI is braindead, the endings all abrupt and disappointing, the maze puzzle is the worst thing ever and the entire thing is just not scary whatsoever.
    The only exceptions are Glamrock Freddy, who is just the best guy ever, and the Daycare section. It was the only part that actually felt tense since Moon is genuinely creepy and threatening, i didn't know how to exploit him, he gets more aggressive as you turn on more generators and somehow nothing broke for me. But these two things can't save the game. I don't believe for a moment that Steel Wool was just lazy or something like that, they clearly put a lot of love and work into the game, but it's clear something went terribly wrong during the development process. They said they wanted to continue working on Security Breach, so they definitely have _a lot_ of work ahead of them. Most of these are not issues that can just be resolved with a bug/glitch fix, they are fundamental parts of the game that would need to be reworked.
    Also the game file size is just nuts. On my end Steam told me it was 70 Gb, which makes it one of the biggest games in my library, exceeding even Resident Evil 7 with all DLCs. Security Breach is big, but not that big.

      It's never ever because fans gave it backlash. It's because the executives have a hard-on for deadlines. They make promises they cant keep and then punish the studio for it, and then blame us. The fans were never the problem. The studio was never the problem. The executives should have been fired for giving really early release dates. It's THEIR fault this went wrong. Don't fall for any obvious lies that blame the fans or studio.

    I love the concept of running around a massive complex after-hours, but I honestly wish they just didn't release the game. It's so comically unpolished and barebones that multiple speedrunners have admitted that finding shortcuts and skips is easier than playing the game casually

      Definitely depends on where you’re looking, on YT all I saw was “SB is a good game, hopefully the bugs gets fixed. Can’t wait for the dlc 😊😊😊”
      and on reddit I mostly saw “SB is disappointing *cue long reasoning as to why* “
      which I honestly did myself lol, SB is very underwhelming as an FNAF game.
      & you shouldn’t need to spend an additional 10000 hours just to understand the lore lol.

    I'm in some kind hate and love relationship ship with this game. On one hand, I love the design and art of the mall and some of the animatronics having personality types. On the other hand, the game is clearly unfinished with all the bugs and glitches. Some of the endings are also really confusing causing the lore of "fnaf" to collapse into a confusing mess.
