Inscryption really shows daniel mullins' growth as a game developer, he started with pony island, a game which basically had no gameplay to it, to now creating the best card game video game there is, there is no debate about this
saying pony island has no gameplay is like saying Undertale has no combat encounters it's simply built different 🙃

I almost had a mental breakdown when Inscryption lost against Deathloop for Most innovative gameplay.
I was pissed when TGA, in all their divine wisdom, didn’t nominate Little Nightmares II for a single award.
At least Terraria won labour of love…

It makes me so happy to see inscryption getting as popular as it has, it deserves it, I remember back when I first saw a video on the gameplay prototype of it(sacrifices must be made) and thought "whoah this seems cool" then the games demo came out and i played it probably 50 or more times, and preordered the game, one of my top favorite games of all time
i remember when i saw it on an indie world and thought +woah that looks actually fun ill add it to my wishlist" and then saw it everywhere on youtube, glad i got to get it for christmas and play it blind, i was right its so good

Psychonauts 2 is an absolute gem and, despite its overwhelmingly positive reception, I still feel it's underrated.
I gotta beat the first one though...
The first one is great, you should definitely finish it! But I think Psychonauts 2 is a rare sequel that greatly surpasses the original

Really happy that Inscryption got top score. Ive never even played or been interested in a Deck-building card-game, but it was so good it just drew people in, myself included.
Great video! But i disagree with 1:27, when you get warioware you understand that it's a game made to be replayed over and over and now that they added multiple chrachters, this just makes the replay value immense.
was thinking the same thing. it’s fun just to go back to certain levels for high scores n stuff.

10:11 holy shit he included Blue Fire there what, I didn't think many people knew about that game lol. I just recently picked it up and 130%'d it and loved the journey. The platforming in that game is just top-notch with some really fun to conquer challenges. It's so cool it was actually mentioned even tho it was only mentioned in the video editing and not necessarily talked about or mentioned by voice. Still love to see it, it might be up there on my own 2021 list of stuff I played and loved.

Glad to see you have fun this year and really glad you gave these underrated/underappreciate titles a recognition.
Speaking of which, I'd like to recommend you another underrated one. Idk if you have heard of it since I'm just subbed in late 2021. The game called: One-Shot an indie puzzle adventure game. It's an rpg maker that doesn't have a combat system and focus on the stories and world building.
The most unique aspect of the game is how it break the 4th wall and playing mind games with the player(which count as entirely separated character from the game's protagonist) every now and then it'll pull out tricks that sometimes goes beyond than just messing with your game files, something like changing your PC wallpaper.
So I hope you'd be interested in this one cuz if you like the story of Undertale or Deltarune, you'll love this one to its bitter end. Last things last, if you think you've reached the ending. Check the game files to see if it was really the end.
The Binding Of Isaac: Repentance (especially) and Inscryption (probably) will always be my favorite games of all time because they have so much potential and opportunities for mod creators (huge thanks to the very creative TBOI community).
Repentance is not just a DLC, it's a different game. The new, fresh, and truly hardcore Isaac with tons and tons of new content for everlasting fun, maybe one of the best birthday gifts for me. And this final ending, bro, always touches me to "crocodile tears". More than 3 years were totally worth the wait.
I didn't even play Inscryption and I'm so glad that finally, someone put it on the peak. I was just watching avidly all new Hutts' walkthrough series of Inscryption when I first got to know this game. I guess Inscryption is not only the best card game but also a great atmospheric, story with very charming characters. OST of this game is a separate topic.
Now I can't wait for Atomic Heart, the really intriguing project as Repentance and Inscryption. Thank you for your great content and all the best to you all! ☀️

It may not have the best gameplay and visuals but it's a game that has stuck out to me from other horror games! Does not have cheap jumpscares or the best jumpscares, what makes it scary is the vhs tape look and disturbing stuff. Now THATS how you make a horror game, make it disturbing

I did a double take when I heard music from Dicey Dungeons in the video. I got the game recently and I honestly have no regrets, so it's a huge surprise to hear something from it in such a popular youtuber's video- It's like when I saw Foekoe do an entire video on Rain World but on a smaller scale. Feels good to know that both games are recognized, thank you KoeFoe 👍
I still cant belive that deathloop won in steam awards as "the most innovative". Clearly, Inscription deserved this spot way more than pooploop.

i just remembered happy game exists. i remember seeing the teaser about a year ago. its a horror game coming from a company that created a lot of amazing indie games that have very unique art styles themes like machinarium and chuchel.
i'd like you to do a full review to the game.
My dad has like a kajillion hours in hearthstone, so I recommended inscryption to him, and he refused to play more than 15 minutes because he “couldn’t get behind the art style”, like bruh that’s literally the best part are you kidding me

Holy crap, Game number 1...gave me the CHILLS playing it! The bosses, the mechanic, and the story! This game just messes with you, and I played it without any review at all. My only wish was that it never ends. Its got replayability and mods coming up to expand it further

Before Your Eyes, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Undertale, Everhood, Spirit Farer, Katana Zero, and Omori are such emotional games.
I played Before Your Eyes today and I can confidently say it was the most emotional experience I've had in a video game to date

Not a 2021 game but I played OneShot for the first time, and I think it's a god damn masterpiece, bawled my eyes out when I finished it.
Also not a 2021 game and still in early access, Secrets of Grindea is great fun, decent story too and charming characters.
Warzone: Vanguard is fun too but only because of the planes, the rest of the game is just another reskin but mowing down ants in the planes is so good.
