It's amazing how Owlcat pretty much makes the best RPGs these days and then they always manage to add some mechanic that's just downright baffling horrendous, like, what were they thinking?
And also gatekeeping the most unique and amazing companions behind unchangeable, pre-built shit build paths.
Ulfar, the freaking space wolf, has a talent that improves his effectiveness in MEDIUM armor. He can't even equip medium armor!! 🤦🏼
yep, Kingdoms, the War in Wrath, and now this. I wish it could be automated
And buggy...
I have over a hundred hours in this game and I've yet to get free insight points other than scanning for new routes.
Going back-and-forth on yellow routes cost no insight and has a good chance of getting a event to gain insight. In my experiences at least
We already told Owlcat during alpha and beta that it was a pretty stupid mechanic. But hey, they went on with it sadly.
There has to be a mechanic that limits how safe you can make warp travel in the supposedly buck wild area of the galaxy. They do need to telegraph that insight is a precious commodity not to be squandered so that people who play without guides don't get softlocked.
Build safe routs straight from your colonies (except Foulstone since its one jump from Janus) and Footfall. Hoard the rest.
yep, make those long-ass highways between the colonies lol
Insight points isn’t that bad for me it’s like 1 in 10 warp travels on gold/yellow routes but I’m on normal difficulty and red routes are always combat but I not seen them give insight points yet if they explained that u didn’t have make every route stable and safe it would save all the confusion
amazing
im 42 hours in and i definitely soft locked my damn self in act two, damnit. anyway thank you for the video. at least im not the only one.
Just reached this point now and I’m pretty pissed about it tbh. It’s a very poorly designed mechanic.
Same, im just fighting the warp at this point fuck is a geller field anyway
Thank you
So Heretical = Bad then? Just bought the game, and this will be my first foray ever into the Grimdark Future.
(Watching "What if the Emperor had a text-to-speach device" again to refresh myself on the lore...)
It's not necessarily bad but most of the time, heretical does some pretty evil stuff. Like killing for no reason or something.
There's other times where the heretical option is just going against the imperium practices, but doesn't do inherently evil stuff. For example trade deals with xenos, or letting someone live who is skeptical of the imperium.
@@dakkadakkajoe Or, as I understand it, using any piece of technology not approved by the Adeptus Mechanicus on Mars?
@@RedwoodTheElf If you want to use alien technology/make deal with aliens/accept critical opinions on the Empire, you could pick Iconoclast, the route of caring about people and trying to do what is best for them. Mind you, you don't loose dogma points if you do use alien technology or trading with criminals as far as I can see. You might not gain as many dogmatic points, but even that is minimal.
@@RedwoodTheElf as a rouge trader that is waived for you. You and the Inquisition are above most planetary law and above imperial law when it comes to tech, just don't let them catch you selling to people you shouldn't.
Happened to me so I just take the red or orange routes and fight chaos on my ship constantly.
Giving myself free navigator's insight with Toybox was one of 3 cheats I felt no guilt for, the others being making every romance bisexual and removing jealousy. Exploring systems and charting new pathways is fun initially, but by late Chapter 2 and Chapter 4 I am having to make multiple warp jumps to get between minor quest locations, and I'd rather just cheat myself a direct safe route to save a few minutes of jumping between menus
Thank you for somewhat explaining Insight.
No other video does this, and I still have no idea where Insight generates from as I started with 1.. and now seem to have 2.
Also.. don't be heretical eh?? *shifty eyes*
Doing the Emperor's work
I am extremely stuck n ready to ditch the game. Ive traveled to every location on the map as of act 2. Its like im stuck in 2 n the story won't progress. Wtf is the problem
Side note, I got past it. 1 small event that I missed led to a yuge storyline which closed chapter 2 n went all the way through chapter 3. Awesome game btw.
Hmm...never had issues with insight. I only bothered making green routes between major hubs/colonies and never ran low on points. As long as you don't spend all your points on making everything green you shouldn't have any issues.
Think the rate at which you accumulate insight originally misleads some people into thinking it will continue being abundant and is meant to be used often, rather than sparingly.
@@paulie-g Must be my hoarding instincts in games...I could be be a millionaire with all the heal pots and extraneous gear items I end up with in just about any game with loot. :p
@@WolvesHart79 Yeah, I'm the same way. I often have to force myself to use consumables and things, but it requires a conscious effort and I quickly forget to do it, again.
@@paulie-g You mean that I should use my 100+ medkits? But what if I get a really hard fight?
Also me: Oh, I got an injury, well lets return to the ship and return (That - Ballistic Skill really hurts my melee characters)
@@MrNorker77 Haha, it's like we're twins
this happened to me
you did'n follow the instructions...
" Do NoT MakE A HerEtIcAL rUn"
Bit bad there's no tutorial at all for warp travel in game, it's basically try and figure it out.
