  • There are definitely no units that we forgot this time, especially not laguz. Also don't mind the thumbnail, I'll fix it when I got a correct one.

    I play through Radiant Dawn's Hard Mode without checking enemy movement ranges, battle forecast, unit stats, etc. Also I don't reset for unit deaths. This game is pretty difficult even without all those self-imposed challenge, so let's see how many Mekkah's Turnwheels it takes to get thorugh this.

      Also tbh, Haar in Radiant Dawn is what I feel like Haar in Path of Radiance could've been if he'd also had another promotion he could go through--and, you know, more than like five or six chapters lmao

      @@Besh091 There's really no analogue to Haar in all of PoR because everyone in that game requires at least a little bit of investment. You do have the investment to give out, of course, but Haar literally does all of it at base.

    31:13 - i was one of those "nerds" saying she's a lord in this chapter, because she can use "Order" command that is normally attached to lord units in RD.
    37:57 - even with transfers Brom never doubles anything, his movement is low and he doesn't stand out combat wise at all - he can tank ok and dish out damage ok. Disarm is by far the best part about him and it's funny as hell to get random items from enemies. If it was an active skill or at least more reliable, then Brom would be hella fun to play.
    Also, realization that you forgot Lethe and Mordecai was glorious :D

    Nephenee can change super fast with a few lucky level ups. The first 3 times she levels strength, she gains attack speed. That's why transfers nephenee is night and day

    • @GIR177
      @GIR177 Před rokem +8

      This. A strength and speed transfer makes Nephenee's AS jump from 17 to 21 on her join map, which lets her double everything including the boss. She can get a ton of easy EXP during Part 2 and snowball fast.

    Yes, PoR gives transfers for weapon ranks even if you don't max or even use a unit. It is really good for Calill in particular because her base ranks are all pretty high in PoR.

  • @albertonolasco9721
    @albertonolasco9721 Před rokem +8

    I think that a worth mention of Geoffrey is probably that he´s the only good candidate for Blossom (for those who don´t know, Blossom allows a second chance for each stat to increase if it fails to do so during a Level Up at the cost of ur exp gain and paragon doubles exp), you can´t remove his Paragon for a while and the fact he´s a second tier unit with innate paragon allows him to equip Blossom without penalties or taking every single space for combat skills.
    He will tend to cap everything but magic, i like to use him for that reason:b

    • @Mekkkah
      @Mekkkah  Před rokem +9

      You don't get Blossom in the CRKs though, so the only time you can give it to him before endgame is 4-5. And at that point he's honestly better off getting double EXP than slightly better level-ups.

    • @gameboyn64
      @gameboyn64 Před rokem +1

      @@gameboyn64 in general cavaliers/paladins don´t have great caps, so having one that at least can reach them out is better i guess.

      @@Mekkkah Fair point, i had the same thought for a while but i left him like 3 or 4 levels before promoting, so i decided to try it anyways since he´s stuck with the Laguz and those fellas drop quite a bunch of exp and by that point no one wants to use Blossom (if someone besides Ike ever did). It´s good if you ever want to use him though.

  • @alexshafer7374

    Y'all mention about how a lot of players use Nephenee but not Brom at one point in here, partially because of speed, and partially because of her design (waifuism strikes again, I DO agree), but something y'all didn't mention here that you actually DID mention during Aran's section is the fact that PoR Nephenee is literally the first playable soldier in a game that was localized in the west. I can't speak for others, but personally, I used her in RD pretty much only because I used her in PoR. In that game she went crazy when I paired vantage with her innate wrath + BExp was easy to abuse in that game, so I gave her a couple str & spd level ups and she was set for the rest of the game. After that, I was already pretty attached.
    Granted, this is memories from when I knew next to nothing about what's optimal in the game/series, but I feel like a lot of players are attached to Nephenee just because of the uniqueness factor of her PoR appearance. Meanwhile Brom is just another armor knight, a class that was already kinda commonly infamously bad by the time PoR/RD rolled around (except for Oswin).

  • @ArchsageCanas

    Nephenee used to be highly praised when Radiant Dawn was the latest Fire Emblem. She is... fine. Although she has two major problems:
    1) Her defense is mediocre. Base is okay but 35% growth is low for a physical unit.
    2) Strength is low. 15 base and 35% growth is among the bottom of strength for physical units.
    Her damage is low in player phase, endurance is poor in enemy phase and avoidance won't be there for a while. She struggles killing sages with javelins if she wasn't spoon-fed lots of experience in part 2. Eventually, she becomes a decent unit, especially with bonus experience (Like many units) but... average mobility, average 1-2 range, no utility beyond pure combat, no useful skills. From a foot unit, I'd expect some sort of niche or importance in specific chapters that would make the character to be truly called good.
    On a flipside, Haar is the best example that stat boosters do matter (sometimes). I think there is almost no other example where a single stat booster does more for a unit than him. 2 speed is massive especially as his base speed is mediocre and his growth is not going to get him out of that ditch alone for a long time.
    Edit for Astrid: Out of all cavaliers, she has actually the most acceptable caps with 35 speed even. Def is lower but it's not important as a bow knight. Unlike lances or axes, forging actually makes sense for bows as there is no 'great' variant. Long bows technically are but it's more about the range...
    But getting her to level cap and promoting is a real grind. Most likely this is happening in part 4, meaning that the time she finally caught up is in the tower.

    I didn't touch Astrid on US Hard/JP Lunatic, but I agree that she's a very Fun unit to use if you can get her off the ground somehow. This works best on US Easy/JP Normal but I had some luck on US Normal/JP Hard. She generally tends to pop off for me eventually, so I tend to use her. Her start's real friggin' terrible though, so I will never blame anyone for not using her, especially if you're playing the hardest difficulty. That just seems like it would invoke madness.

    Leanne is underrated. She's still the "worst" heron but I find I use her the most now. Rafiel wants a lot of canto units to actually get off 3 or 4 dances and Reyson wants minimal non-royal laguz so he can hoard all the grass, stones and gems. Both of those are more optimal set ups than otherwise but if you like to mix it up, Leanne is flexible enough to be part of any deployment make up.

By the time you have Marcia, Tanith, and Sigrun, my Marcia is far better than both of them. I probs have some bias, but I'm always able to get a lot of use out of her when she's available.
