  • This is the second part of me and Raisins analyzing all the units we got throughout Part 1, the latter half of the Dawn Brigade. After this, the LP will continue with Part 2.
I play through Radiant Dawn's Hard Mode without checking enemy movement ranges, battle forecast, unit stats, etc. Also I don't reset for unit deaths. This game is pretty difficult even without all those self-imposed challenge, so let's see how many Mekkah's Turnwheels it takes to get thorugh this.
(and if you got this far in the description - I'm sorry!)

Regarding gauge; Mekkah is right! When doing 0 damage or when missing/not attacking you gain 15 gauge. Damaging an enemy will grant exp and gauge will increase slightly/none.

I like that massive gap between Dawn Brigade and former Greil Mercs. Though i wish Ilyana and Jill started as t2 to put a bow on how much stronger they are compared to scrubs like Edward or Leonardo.

Iliana and Jill should definitely be tier 2 off the rip.
It would be a good balance as well as story element.
They give you control of too many OP units like The Black Knight, Toureno, Nailah,
Zihark, Jill, and Ilyana being Tier 2 would be more than enough to help the Tier 1 units out.

I love how you guys didn't talk about Tormod's usage when he returns in Part IV given he's by far the most unviable member of the Laguz Emancipation Army in endgame.
You can't put Paragon on him for any Part IV maps to give him some last-minute training (which is what I did for Lucia, she actually turned out pretty well), and in endgame he's completely outclassed by Sanaki, who's force deployed.
Tormod is my favorite character in the Tellius duology and his availability in Radiant Dawn is so unfortunate. Poor guy...

You can put Paragon on him during his Part IV re-joining chapter. You need to enter the chapter, then choose to return to base before starting it and he'll be in your roster.

It makes no sense that Michiah, Sothe, Nailah, and Toureno don’t have authority stars.
Michiah should have 3 authority stars entering Part 1 endgame and she should be promoted by that point.
For an already hard series, even harder game, the designers decided to make it annoyingly hard to play as the Dawn Brigade.
I’m so happy my first FE Experience was Path of Radiance.
The best of the best (other then skill swapping).

I'm the LTCer they keep mentioning idk why they don't just say my name :(.
2:37 yeah, thankfully Zihark has 17 base str so he can one round all the enemies you need him to in part 1 with the wind edge.
3:05 to survive a tiger+cat combo you need 69 2 hit bulk (tigers can roll up which would make it 71, but you have brush for that) Zihark has 56 Base bulk, but a promo gets him to 64 bulk, and aran C support gets you to 66, which makes it possible. Without a promotion or boosters yeah you're not able to do it though. Sadly nobody else on the DB other than volug can also claim to hit that mark.
7:18 you can promote on turn 2 after he kills a feline on turn 1. get him to 9.71 EXP to do that.
The main thing you were saying about zihark killing too many enemies and dying can be mitigated by knowing enemy movement ranges/Terrain data and not putting him in range of too many eneemies in 3-6. The other thing is that With resolve you can actually become Immortal if you have double earth A (which you do) by giving him resolve and just letting him stay below 50%
I think the main reason you thought Zihark's bulk is bad is that you weren't giving him bulk boosters, every unit's bulk in the DB is bad except for Volug without those.
12:44 Jill's concrete Bulk in part 3 is mostly aided by her HP *cap* allowing her to get 1 extra seraph robe compared to tier 2 Zihark. Tier 2 Jill needs to reach 81 2 hit buik to surivive 2 tigers (79 for 1 tiger + 2 cats). After promo she has a base bulk of 56 2 hit bulk. (sound familiar?) and she gets 19 extra from statboosters so she'll still need 6 more 2 hit bulk from levels
I'm kinda sad you didn't talk about carry jill more :( Carry jill fails to hit benchmarks even when you ship her all the stuff
35:44 I like Vika, her big edge i is her combination of Shove and Canto. Getting rafiel to the top of the map requires you move him with a canto unit, and you only have 1 major canto unit in Jill. (who is often carrying the black knight up.) She can shove tormod in 1-8 and her combat is good enough to ORKO mages in 1-7. She's one of those units that gets helped a lot by playing fast but she's really really good at her movement oriented niche.
45:53 in order to fix his accuracy issues give him a +4 might +4 hit thunder tome (you probably forged one for illyana) he can't hit up ledges but he can ORKO stuff up non-ledges.
56:53 I'm surprised Raisins didn't mention this but with boots+master crown+resolve Tauroneo has a 100% chance to ORKO ike on turn 2 with the brave axe (as long as ike has bronze sword equipped and has 24 or less defense or 48 hp 25 defense.)

Honestly, Fiona feels like a unit you're suppose to give paragon, but lacks the skill capacity to to do so. I'm playing on hard and she hits like a noodle and has paper armor. I'm using her long-term because I'm too invested, and hesitate to use much BEXP on her due to the guaranteed three still improvements kind of going against her growths.

    • @trikkinikki6843
      @trikkinikki6843 Před rokem +3

My first playthrough was on Easy and I dumped like 9 levels of BEXP into her and she was still horrifically bad, her growths don't help her with that because BEXP levels in RD always give three stat ups. Unless you grind her on an enemy on a heal tile or something, I don't think there is any possible way to salvage her.

The main thing I'm noticing with Fiona is that her hit rate is absolutely horrendous. Especially in 1-E because of Jarod's leadership stars. She has like 60 hit in the best case scenarios.

On my latest RD Hard playthrough where I made it a goal to train Fiona, I Master Sealed her just to give her the skill capacity to give her Paragon, and had to give her forged lances just to make her be able to hit things because her accuracy was awful.
I think it would've been more worth it to train her without Master Sealing because her stats (and accuracy) were still awful until she finally became Tier 3.

I honestly have no idea why IntSys even bothered making half of the Dawn Brigade playable at all in Hard Mode considering half of them have atrocious availability and the other half are total jobbers compared to the dumptruck of mindlessly overpowered super-units that get handed to you starting with the return of the Greil Mercenaries. (or hell, Tauroneo, Nailah and the Black freaking Knight in Part 1 if you want to count that)
Illyana, Meg, Fiona, Vika, Tormod...they all have some fatal flaw that requires extraordinary luck and/or effort to bring up to usable. Even the "good" Dawn Brigade units aren't immune to getting jollied up the ass by RNGsus, especially on Hard Mode, with Nolan potentially getting STR and DEF screwed, Edward Wrathing so much he dies from 'Yes-ing Too Hard'. and Zihark or Jill missing a few too many DEF+HP levels early and often. (which is the real reason why Haar is God-King of the non-Royal/non-Greil units)
Fiona in particular is the single most deranged unit IntSys ever made in my eyes as she is utterly crippled by arbitrarily poor availability and requires some of the most insanely specific abuse of game mechanics to raise compared to literally any other playable character in any other Fire Emblem game I can think of. (only Sophia really competes here. Nino is trivially easy to raise in comparison...even if there isn't really any compelling reason to do so beyond personal want)
Even Michaiah, the so-called 'Lord' (protagonist) of the Dawn Brigade is prone to being relegated to back-line staff-bitch and/or cheerleader in her own freaking story due to her HORRIFICALLY bad speed, defense and HP growths. If I'm being charitable, that does makes sense thematically since she is supposed to be the inverse of Ike.
In Radiant Dawn, Ike is the seasoned veteran who leads from the front and basically bulldozes everything in his path. Michaiah is the plucky underdog who starts out small, but directly involved in her own conflict, but is gradually forced into leading from the back due to a generalship that's imposed on her.
