- At long last the third member of the A&B Disposal gang gets its own video. This truck may be familiar to many of you having appeared in “Garbage Trucks Part V” and more significantly, the 90s direct-to-VHS masterpiece “Garbage Day”. We can thank Edge Manufacturing for helping to keep this classic going, they were the ones responsible for the refurbishment and remount from the old Pete 310 chassis this body used to sit on. Thanks to everyone at A&B and as always Zach and Bill. Filmed February 15, 2013.

Great video! Revving and the classic-ness of this truck were both highlights, not to mention the color scheme as well. Also some unique hopper shots in there too. I hope to film this company one day, but I don't know how you get into the private neighborhood communities where they service. Also, I have had much success in NYC! You didn't lie when you said there were trucks every 2 blocks!
SoCalGarbageTrucks Thanks. We lucked out being able to film in Park La Brea by having an in with the guys at A&B, the apartment complex's security guards are really uptight. Told you, hope you had fun. :)
The engine really lets rip when it's revving; I thought it was going to kick up to about 5000RPM at the beginning of the pack in the first clip! I'm not disappointed seeing another on-top-of-the-truck view - from now on I'll expect that in all your future FL videos (don't feel pressured) :D Also looking down into the hopper during packing, how quick does that second stage bounce back when she starts retracting?! It's almost like it's spring loaded! I like those plastic bins he's emptying, they're very suitable for residential collections done solo. At 1:35 it looks and sounds like some kind of reverse vacuum under the truck with all the lifted dust. Impressive how quick those arms drop down at idle!
MitchellM15 Yeah A&B has this truck properly tuned for speedy operation. This truck is my favorite of the trio by far. Perfectly honest, I now feel a front load video isn't even worth posting without a proper packer shot. Getting permission for those isn't always the easiest. In this case a nosy security guard came over to the driver to let him know some kid with a camera had climbed up the side of his truck. :P The bins are 1.5 cubic yards, an uncommon size here but the American equivalent of a 1100L bin. Every time I brought up the topic of bins the drivers would mention how much of an improvement they were over the old steelies. Easy to move, quiet, won't rust, easily repaired with a heat gun instead of a welder. They bought them used, I think I remember George the owner talking about getting a great deal on them.

Last time I saw them was in 2007 and they got replaced with Autocars :/ and then the company changed twice. It's like consolidated something now. They were in the neighborhood from 1994-2007
Really, really enjoy A&B's trucks. My first thought seeing their colors is always how cool would it be if their Peterbilt 300 was still around lol This truck sounded awesome. Not how I expected it to sound, but it was good. I really like those 2(?) yard containers. Reminds me of the ones in "Garbage Day". Wow...awesome packer shot! Those have been intriguing me for a while since I've been trying to figure out the difference between bottom pack (similar to 3/4 height blade from what Scott said), and standard (I assume those are the only two for FL?). Also, is A&B the company with a huge apartment contract somewhere in LA or am I thinking of another small hauler? I remember reading about it during the LA franchising craziness. Staggs have always been one of my favorites. Grew up seeing quite a number of them. Any idea of A&B still has this truck? I actually haven't seen any of their trucks in person since 2013. ***** Same, all three trucks are great, and their color scheme is amazing. Pretty sure these are 1 1/2 yard bins. When it comes to front load packers the standard types are: full height (by far most common), 3/4 blade with short follower (uncommon), half blade with full follower (STS, many/most older Amreps, some other west coast bodies), and the almost extinct top pack (Crown Disposal). Yeah A&B handles Park La Brea. I haven't been to Los Angeles or been in touch with A&B but I don't see why they would've gotten rid of this truck or changed anything major. Thanks!
Great video! I like how they mounted it onto a new cab and chassis, rather than scrapping it. Really fast too, nice to see with an older body. I really like the design too. The footage and editing was amazing, I liked the hopper shots and how well you edited them into the video. The video is two years old too! I wonder what else you have in store!!! I look forward to seeing more videos from you!
garbageproductions1 Thanks for the kind words :) I'm getting close to clearing out my backlog of older footage, just one two videos worth left. However are plenty more recent finds coming.
Bloody good footage mate!!!!!! That dump cycle is heaps fast especially when coming down! Do you know if these blokes prefer the plastic dumpsters over the metal ones?
+garbokid1 Thanks. They most certainly do. Much easier to move around, quieter, no worries about bottoms rusting out, and durable. Though should they ever crack repairs are easily made with a plastic welder.

Peterbilt 320 Stagg Garbage truck with the Cummins L10 or M11 engine or Caterpillar engine those are the Diesel engine choices

Stuart Alvarez A&B takes pride in these trucks, they get a fresh coat every year or two if I remember correctly. Take a look at my video of their Maxon, it looks factory fresh.
