The coolest music history locations in NYC

Recently my wife and I took a short trip to NYC and we spent one morning walking around the city, seeing some of the most important locations in music history. In these places, people changed the history of music forever.

i've always wanted to go to the hotel chelsea....... but i moved to the west coast 20 years ago, and had a kid 7 years ago, so i doubt i'll ever get to go, also to find out it's upscaled now, it's probably out of my price range, how much was it per night?
