Its because curly hair grows at a very slow rate. Most of us with curly hair are often torn with growing it out or getting a cut. That one inch does make a difference it could either help enhance curls and make them healthier , or it can make them loose their ‘bounce’ and definition. And the whole thing boils down to the stylist you choose. They could be good or bad its all fate.

I’m not sure if anyone mentioned this but you didn’t get a Curl by Curl Cut because your hair wasn’t hydrated and had no distinct curl pattern. With the right styling technique and products, and those ends gone you’ll be able to get a Curl by Curl in the future. With your hair type, day 2/3 always looks better. You also didn’t get a ton cut off... shrinkage is hydrated hair and Deva Curl is water-soluble and has lots of water in so it might have seemed like tons of product. Your day 3 Hair is dope by the way!

It’s nerve wracking getting a cut, I get it. But your hair looks a MILLION times better without those split ends. It looks SO HEALTHY! You may not have liked how they styled it, but did you even tell them to make it bigger and more voluminous? Pandia I don’t know who told you that lie, but I’ve gone to two different salons that specialize in DevaCuts and they have never told me to just shampoo and not condition. They both advised me to do my normal routine (cleanse and condition) and to apply my normal products to my hair and come with my hair dry to get the cut done. It may be a scam to you, but to others not. My hair has never been better ever since I started getting my hair cut by a DevaCurl stylist. I would go to salons and they would never know what to do with my hair or how to cut it. The hair stylists would always make faces at how thick and curly my hair was and would ALWAYS ask if they could straighten it. Like no! I did not come here for you to criticize my hair or to try and get rid of my curls. Going to a DevaCurl salon was a total (and good) experience.

I live less than an hour from NYC, but I just went to a local place near my house to get a DevaCut for the first time just a few days ago. I also was a little concerned that my hair felt full of product after the drying. Good thing I wore my glasses that day, because the dryer was making my eyes crazy dry! Fortunately, my hair felt just fine after the stylist scrunched it to remove the "cast" from the Ultra Defining Gel and the Frizz-Frizz Volumizing Foam. I was pleasantly surprised that even my bottom layer of hair, which is straight, had more wave to it than usual.
My hair had a lot of volume at the crown because they used the DevaClips. I'm sure it also helped that my hair was dried with heat, which I almost never do! Your hair looks very moisturized after the DevaCut.
    Sophie is so cute!

I just saw this. I loved how your hair looked straight after you came out of the salon- exactly what I would like for myself. Of course in Scandinavia, more than half the population has (or want) flat, straight hair, so "big hair" is almost unheard of ;-) I like a bit of volumn. I hope I can find a place over here that does a devacut. in 20yrs I have not found a hairdresser that is good at cutting curly hair! They cut wet and everytime I ask for them to cut the split ends only, I end up with short hair instead of a little trim. No wonder it never gets past shoulder length :-/

Did you ever consider that some people, especially many Mediterranean, Latina, Middle Eastern, and South Asian women have naturally thick eyebrows and that her eyebrows are naturally close together and that actually she may have already "fixed" them. smh with white people thinking women of color with naturally thick brows are getting carried away. that's what their brows look like naturally and part of their beauty as a woman of color. they are not actually following a trend. it's that the brow trend has finally allowed them to stop overplucking and let their natural brows be. also, in middle eastern culture fuller brows are considered beautiful and sometimes its a little fuller than what european/north americans are used to. so she may just be influenced by a different beauty standard and there is nothing wrong with that. so there is nothing to fix about her brows.

If you want Deva Transformation at home, it's easy. Get a Bonnet hair dryer, and a heavy moisturizing conditioner. What deva does is they heavy condition sections of hair to make sure it's all super coated. And they dry your hair with the conditioner in it. You can do the same thing at home. If this condition and heat dry your hair under the bonnet once a week you will have amazing looking hair. The trick is the heat conditioning, not the "cut by curl". Way cheaper, and you don't have to go to NYC. Curly hair has a porous cuticle and drys out. You could even order the Deva brand conditioner I guess, I don't but if it made you feel better you could. But it's the 2 hour condition dry that made your hair look better, bouncy etc.
