The thing about oils is that they are a SEALANT meaning they are supposed to LOCK IN moisture so you use it last and after ur other products and not before
Madison Collier preeeeeeaaaaaaccchhhhhh sis!😂🙌🏾
See
So pretty. I don't agree with the deva curl people about the oils. As long as you are washing and cowashing your hair the natural oils will not build up. Clarifying rinses with diluted apple cider vinegar also help with buildup. Oils for types 3 and 4 hair are especially good if you use the right oil because they seal hair, lubricate it, and add nutrients. Coconut, avocado, grapeseed, argan, and jojoba are great penetrating oils for hair. Castor, corn, almond, soybean, and sunflower are great sealing oils that can be blended with the others. Overnight oil treatments, in particular, are beneficial for hair integrity and growth. It is synthetic and petroleum-based oils that we need to avoid.
Dante Velasquez In my experience, they all cause build up. Mainly, the sealant oils recommended for the LOC method. :/
And I never skip using shampoo or a cowash.
I work with devacurl certified stylists, and they are not so much anti-oils but rather anti-cowash only that many curly girls do. With cowash only the excess oils never get removed thus buildup and and hair getting coated and not allowing moisture in as moisture is different from oil. Curls tend towards water dry rather than oil dry.
Vernon Williams only new deva trained stylists are anti oils, they have gone downhill since lorraine massey left...
I agree to an extent. They say that it's not that good but some of their styling products have oil in them. So, they are using oils but saying not to use them.
I don't agree with the Beautician either because as a kid throughout my teen years my hair was natural and my mother always oiled my scalp and massaged my scalp. My hair grew. Is there anyone that believes the same as I do that regardless of what you put on your hair your hair is going to grow anyway. I don't believe any products will help hair grow. Using old school method keep scalp oiled and moisturized to prevent breakage and damage. Justing.
Great video! Turned out nicely...You are giving me Kelly Roland vibes! LOOL
some1 thanks so much. And i get that a lot! lol
some1 I agree with the Kelly Rowland comment, very pretty. I‘m also seeing a little Kelis, maybe her eyes?
I just wrote that abs now I’m seeing your comment lol
I agree with everyone about the oils! I saw Melanie for my first cut and she was an absolute doll! Very calm. I was taken back when she said to use no oils. I followed her advice for a year straight and hated how my hair looked. I don’t use oils often, I use camille rose oil and tea tree oil on my scalp and I haven’t looked back since. Your cut looks nice!
Thats a no for me on no oils! Maybe oils dont work well with their products.
Anyone else think she looks like a young Kelly Rowland?
The music is too loud
I know those clips got hot like fire!!!
You look like Kelly Rowland to me 😍
Amazing walk through, and beautiful results!!
You have such a beautiful smile! Love how your hair came out!
Wow this haircut turned out BEAUTIFUL!!!
I really enjoyed this review. You’re a pretty girl and great skin.
Liberty In Him thank you !
and the color looks so much nicer now
Chris Johnson i agree
You’re soooo gawgeous 😍😍😍. Love you hair color and the turnout!
The layers made all the difference!
Avocado oil penetrates the hair shaft and definitely is healthy for your scalp 🥑🥑☺️
Great video and results ! I only disagree on the fact that you shouldn't use any oils. Yes it does not allow anything to pass and that's why it works amazingly as a lock for moisture :) I use my moisturizer and THEN put an oil to make sure that this good moisture stays in. I don't use oils as moisiturizers.
Ana O'Donnel thank you! And i definitely agree. I used to use the LOC method (leave in, oil, cream) so i think I’ll just switch the O and C!
Yeah that's exactly what I did ^^
If oils don't penetrate hair, then what does coconut oil do??? Last time i checked it was the only oil to do so...and what should it be replaced with???
There is a difference between hydratation and nutrition, oils don't hydrate but they nourish. Water hydrates the hair but oils (such as coconut oil) are too thick to penetrates INSIDE the hair but it still helps a lot from the OUTSIDE. So you must put hydratation before nutrition (???) That's just what I think, I am not a professional at all :) .
Ana O'Donnel ok thx for sharing and enlighting me on the subject. Its always good to learn something new. 😉😊
I follow that stylist on Instagram. She looks like she does fabulous work on everyone she does.
Great video. Your cut and style are beautiful. I’d really like to take my girls and myself to one of these salons. I agree with most people about using oil. I actually use the LCO method, I’ve noticed using oil LAST works great for my hair, especially in the winter when I’m trying to seal as much moisture as needed for my hair. Thank you for the video. Oh I forgot. I do agree with the salon about not using a comb and only using my fingers, but man is that a beast to do and it takes hours. I’m still perfecting this method, however; with 2 daughters with waist length hair your fingers can start to cramp. 😩😂
Oil is a sealant so it should be used last after moisturizing and gel products. Oil isn't bad for the hair.
I love it ! You’re gorgeousssss !
Loveee the color 😍 super cute hair cut
Your hair looks great she did a very good job👍🏼
She's so beautiful ♥️😍
Isn't oil more so for your scalp anyway?
Hair came out beautiful
You are sooo beautiful! 🧡
Omg Arielle I didn't know you had a CZcams account. I haven't seen you since DX days lol. Your video just popped up on my recommended I love it.
ari_9977 lol hey girl. And thank you! :)
Is your hair damaged from prior heat usage or from bleaching?
Day 3 was so cute but do you have heat damage in the front or is your front just slightly a looser curl pattern than the back?
Jocelyn Harris thanks! And it’s both. I had heat damage for a while but i haven’t straightened my hair in months. The front just grows extremely slow. You can watch me cut the heat damage here! :)

Ur hair is goals gd luck on ur journey
Ardea Miller thanks a lot!
Very pretty!
Oh wow first time I had someone spell their name like mine and have almost the same texture
It's not using no oil it's not using too much oil. When you use too much oil especially without enough water they counteract each other and you just end up with oil on your hair without any water to give your hair moisture.
She favors kelis lol very pretty
Thank you so much for sharing! New subbie! Beautiful hair !!!
Small CZcamsr supporting another 💕
You are so pretty love your smile
Super cute!
I want a deva cut☹️. But I don’t think they have one in Miami😭
If you go onto the devacurl website you can look up certified stylist near you.
YOURE SO CUTEEEE
What is your curl type?and texture?
Also..Idk. but thee only time i oil my hair is right after of the day after i wash it.On a daily i just use my leave in conditioner. For hair growth i love wild growth oil,To thicken your hair or fill up any bald like spots due to shedding jamaican black castor oil is good, for dry scalp tea tree oil is good,if you have dry brittle like hair coconut oil is good for moisture and to stop shedding&breakage as your hair grows olive oil is good.Keep in mind that these beauticians do study hair but it is impossible for them to know and indentify properly each hair type and curl pattern as well as your hair prosority levels.Do your own research and find whats best for you!:)
How did you get that color
How much did you pay for all service?
Wish we had a devachan aslon where I live!
Wait did you go in with nothing in your hair at all like does your hair naturally fall down with no products in it I’m asking to compare to my hair
I may go to Melanie.
Beautiful :)
I’m going to be in the city for a few days and am thinking about going to that salon. Around how much does it cost for the cut and style?
naturalcaligirl i think it was about $125, don’t remember exactly but you can check on the devachan website
Where was this Location?
Your color even looked better after
At the and you looked exactly like Kelly Rowland.
Guðrún Birta yes she does i agree
I would trust someone with hair like hers. She gets it.
Edit: Spoke too soon. 😬
very nice
Did you feel like you noticed more hair growth after going? My friends who got went said they felt like their hair really started growing after.
Chrisi B I still feel like it’s too soon to tell but my wash and god look and feel better. I haven’t done an official length check yet but my hair is definitely longer than I expected after the cut
How much did it cost ???
Esthefany Santos I watched another video on this and the girl got the same thing she got.
114.00
I honestly think the oil tip is true
I never use oils anymore and my hair is way less frizzy and more defined
Iove your hair.. What color is that?
Marvelyn Brentum thanks ! Check this out
czcams.com/video/eBbmug4toKk/video.html
So no castor oil ?😩😩😩
Did you get split ends?
Also, you look like Kelly Rowland!
I could never not use oils....
What camera are you using to record
24KGOLDNMELANIN some super cheap cam i got on EBay a couple years ago lol
New subbie
I'm late but hope by now you know they're penetrating oils compared to sealant oils.. wink.. good video
How long did your appointment take
about 1.5 to 2hrs
This is nikki anderson my mother does my hair
Reminds me of Kelly Rowland
with this hair color.....you look a slight bit like a darker version of the aritist Kelis (the milkshake lady lol)...
Great vid! Loved the hair too. Now I want to go get myself a #Devacut
It is soo expensive 150 for just haircut... would you say it was worth all the money?
Sandy i definitely think so. I was more confident when i wore my hair out. But i would probably do it once a year
Sandy lmao. Yes. I thank God that my sister and cousin is a Licensed hairstylist.😭😭😭
Idk.. it looked thin afterwards.
So I guess this method has taken the place of the big chop...
Combing your hair changes your curl pattern?🤔No oil?🤔I mean brands and stylist just want to seem like they are beginning and end.
Lulu Kinyozi yea girl! I still use my denman brush religiously 🤷🏾♀️ as fast as oil goes, i use whatever feels right on my hair
Wouldn’t it make more sense if she cut it at the end since its all dry and defined so the cut would look more defined
Usually deva cut stylists will do a little clean up at the end if anything is out of place. But they make you come to the salon with day 2 or 3 hair because that's how you wear it everyday. Your wash and go is not always going to look like you just came out the salon, you know?
What did you get done ?
Nya Apple her nose, lips buttocks and breast
Julio Carter I was referring to her hair
I wonder what was the cost..
Kim W she said 160
Hair color
Mia jaslin love her hair color...

I made the mistake of NOT going to Melanie. Next time I won't make that boo boo!
sevenaka7 which stylist did you go to? I was thinking about going to nevila or Melanie
@@mimisksk5 it was a guy. It was years ago. I suggest melanie she's been there a long time and has good reviews.
@@mimisksk5 wow. I wanted to use Nevila but, now I'm leaning towards Melanie.
That moment you at the salon and they bring out the 💇🏾♀️😶😳
If you don’t mind sharing, about how much did this experience cost? I know it was worth it because you’re happy with the outcome
Liberty In Him Sure! It was $125 and well worth it. I’d say I payed somewhere in the middle because I saw cuts for $80 and some for $160, all depends on location and experience
Arielle Eva Thanks for sharing this video and with so much detail! My friend swears by Devachan and recommended I go there now that I’m starting to wear my curls. I went there about 11 years ago and damn near cried but I was growing out a texturizer at that time and wasn’t fully natural.
Natalie J Walker lol no problem! I was sooo skeptical for so long but i decided it was time. It’s the only way I’ll actually continue to wear my hair natural. I’m not going to use heat for a year and see the results
Not wasting my product with all that water
the edges at the end was a no ma'am overall the cut and your hair looked great
I dont like it. Youre beautiful either way, though. Thanks for the video, it was fun to watch.
Why go to the shop if you don't want to get your damaged hair cut even? I stopped watching this video.
Gina Clemons removing damaged hair can be done all at once or over time. I chose to cut a little at a time and now my hair is fully restored. Thanks for your input 😊
@@arielleeva your so sweet and confident to handle constructive criticism. SWEET GODS CHILD. You make since honey. 👊👍
Mop? 😂😂😂😂
