Here’s another tip: you don’t need to fill that giant planter full of soil to the bottom. Throw in a bunch of empty plastic jugs - 2 liter soda bottles are perfect - and then just pour in about 6 to 8 inches of soil (check online what you’re growing to see what is a mature plant’s root depth requirement). Way less soil required… and the planter won’t kill your back when you’re trying to move it!
You can also use cotton balls, roots can grow through them easily, you could grow cucumbers or any type of vine vegetables in it and layer the cotton balls with soil, so you'll use much less soil and the vegetables will grow like crazy with that deep of a planter! I did this with all my planter vegetables this year because I had gotten free giant cotton balls and wanted to save money lol😂I did an experiment at first with tomato plants and used layered cotton and soil and one with just soil and the one with cotton grew way way bigger faster! I think it's because the roots get more oxygen, idk 🤷♀️ sorry for the book😂
@@amber_Forever16 I normally refill every other day. Just depends on the weather and where you place it at. If you live in area with high heat you may need refill/clean daily. 😊
What a great idea. Thanks for sharing. It's just a saving $ tip. Fill the vase a little more than 1/2 way with leaves and cardboard paper, then fill the rest with the potting mix. This way, you save $ on potting mix.

Until the wind blows your little fountain to the edge and all the water disappears in a few hour and you end up with water logged planters....... looks lovely for a few days!!!!!!!
Thanks for the idea. I had a thought to make a small area for my nieces, to make a secret garden area and a sensory garden and this idea is a perfect addition. ❤❤❤
When my grandson was around 3 we planted sunflowers in a 4' or 5 ' square leaving 2' opening (door) for a Sunflower room he could go into.he loved it 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻
🥰 Would love to do this for the🐦with upcycled, thrifted or clay pots 🌎Slow decomposers & delivery fights/drives adds to carbon footprint which seems to defeat the purpose
I love the fountains too, but if the wind is even a little strong, it will blow the water out of the fountains and drown the plants or cause the pump to run dry and burn up the pump….. hate to be such a pessimist , but realistically, they don’t work that well …. But you are right, when they do run, they are fun and pretty and the birds do love them !!
No, there's ways around (believe me) Especially on clearance racks, Dollar trees etc. The solar fountain is from Amazon the rest you can find everywhere else.
I have a few of these. Just copy and paste the link if not I also have it in my storefront in my bio. I think they're a great addition to any garden!!!
I'm not sure where she got it from but I found similar ones at Home Depot and Lowe's. The ones I used are in my Amazon storefront, comes in a set of 3. So gorgeous 😍

I did that, and during a bad storm, the planters were blown into our pool. What a mess. I’ll opt for weight in that planter🤭
Can also use leaves and sticks for a more nature friendly fill. That way the plastic doesn't seep into the soil, which will seep into the plants
@@jenniferp4612 мне нравится использовать сосновые шишки
Thank you for the info. I'm stoked for planting 😊
I love these little solar fountains. I bought 2 and made hanging bird baths. They’re a big hit with the birds and pollinators this year.
I love mine!!!
Where did you find one?
@@jennifermorgan4033 I have always bought in mine on Amazon here's the link just copy and paste amzn.to/4cX4TDB
I want one as well
@@AlishaCernikthank you
Added some light up floating lights and it glows at night ❤
Perfect
They make solar floating fountains that light up now, too. Save yourself a step.
The color white of the base combined with the flowers specially their colors ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
So pretty
Make sure you check on it often as the water will disappear through wind, evaporation and spraying beyond water reservoir.
I had to refill every 2 hours.
As much as I love it...I had to stop using it. I tried many different ways. 😕
I check on mine maybe once a day but where I have mine at I guess it's blocked from the wind
Very quickly

TIP... GLUE 3 BAMBOO STICKS TO THE FOUNTAIN TO KEEP IT IN THE MIDDLE AS THEY DO TEND TO FLOAT TO THE SIDE!
True!!! They also updated their fountain so it stays in the middle
@@AlishaCernikwhere did you buy your fountain?

It's also in my Amazon storefront in bio but that's the link just copy and paste to make it easier.
Good idea! When my fountain floated to the side it drowned the plants underneath it growing in the ground.
What do you mean. Vertical, horizontal, etc? Thank you!❤

I love that solar thing!!! It’s $15 on Amazon and I use it in my bird bath. It keeps bugs out and prevents stagnant water 😁
Where I buy it at!!!
Good job! 🤩👍🌼
Great idea❤❤❤
Love it 🥰 ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love that it is solar powered!
Awesome idea...I will be doing this instead of just a bird bath with the solar fountain ❤ Thank you
So much cheaper!!!
Idea is good 🎉
Many many thanks

We add the fountain to our bird bath every year. Just need to be sure to add water often.
Yes!!!! 😊
But doesn’t the moving water deter the birds? Or do they not mind it?

Bummer!!
Beautiful, wish the mosquitoes wasn't so bad in my area, I would definitely make this 😊

You need bats (to eat the mosquitoes)!
For real!!! That’s the first thing I thought of. Skeeter heaven!! 🤣
attract dragonflies. one dragonfly alone will eat 100 mosquitoes per day
Mosquitoes cannot lay eggs in moving water so the fountain is an excellent idea.

I have no problem keeping pond plants the smaller ones, I've been doing it for 4 years with no issues
I prefer the soil like the lady did with the flowers in the water fountain I think that's very elegant who wants plastic bags in that place like that
Lovely!

I'm sorry to hear that, where do you live? My solars are only out in the Fall, spring and summer then I put them away for the winter.
Nice. I’d plant some watercress (land cress in US?) as it loves a continuous sprinkle.
