  • I bring you naturally dyed yarny goodness, textile delights, and stunning sights & sounds from our beautiful home on the far flung tip of the Pacific Northwest. An episode grounded in stillness, silence and moments of calm to settle your senses.
I show you some of my indigo dyed yarn, a new crochet project on the hook, and a sneak peek at exciting new traditional textile adventures coming up from us here at the cottage on the slopes of the Olympic Mountains.
There's of course the usual Magpie moments, and a mini film during the podcast where we take you on a visual storytelling journey around the cottage, plus a little further afield to meet an important Being of this place.
Step through the peninsular mists and join us. Thanks for watching!

I had to subscribe after hearing your comments about silence and intensity. I agree with you completely, and I find it interesting that so many are uncomfortable with quiet, with space... that they prefer what you rightly (in my opinion) called mania, manic activity. In any case, this is the second episode of yours that I have watched, and your work is beautiful. I hope to learn over time how to improve my knitting skills to make some of the works (or similar) that you show. Thank you for sharing something new (and needed). I appreciate what you're doing.

Oh how lovely to see this feedback from you! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch one of these older episodes and also for sharing your thoughts. Becoming comfortable with silence, with quiet, and with taking our time over things, is absolutely crucial for human society at the moment. 🙏🏾

Dear Daki, I will leave some feedback like you ask.
I just love to hear you speak! I appreciate that it must be very time consuming (don't know how you manage it really...) and it's thoughtful to think of your viewers. Personally I don't mind if the podcasts are 60-90 minutes. I can always pause them and come back later. But I realise this might be different for other people.
Love the organic construction and feel of your podcast. I love how you don't cut out scenes where you're thinking, or when baby is brought in. You really invite us into your life and your personality and I think that is very very generous. It also shows an authenticity that is rare and very beautiful, I think many people resonate to that. Especially compared to the "intense" status quo.

Absolutely loved the changes in the verge section this time! Nice to get a glimpse of Arik!
Also very much loved the in my hands section.
    And everything else XD.
    Soothcast sounds fascinating...

Hello Daki, I heard about your wonderful podcast from Ana's Figments channel. She is a big fan and now so am I. I live in Bothell just outside Seattle and agree the Olympic Peninsula is a magical place. I am not from here either and will move back to california some day but in the meanwhile am soaking up all the wonderful thin air and making memories of the beautiful muted sky and water colors. Love to see all your content and your soothing voice ties it all together. My baby just turned 24 and I am grateful that I have more time to crochet and knit while I listen to podcasts...so an hour not too much for me. Whatever you can spare is perfect. And certainly don't feel like you have to keep some kind of publishing schedule, I am appreciative of anything you craft.

So much Claire for making time to leave me such a kind and supportive comment, and for watching some of these much older episodes. It's lovely to know that there's someone just outside the peninsula watching my videos and visiting in some way. 🙏🏾💙

Thank you so much Sandy! I really appreciate you taking the time to watch all these episodes and for leaving such kind and supportive comments. It was wonderful surprise to find them here when I checked into my channel today. Life is such levels of busyness that apart from Instagram I don't keep a regular eye on these spaces so I was delayed in replying to your kind words. Thank you again for joining me here! 💙🙏🏾

Hi I am following you from Sweden and I have only seen 12 min (of this episode) so far but have to comment: I guess it´s why I like you so much - you´re not doing it the "american way", talking at high speed, loud, sell sell, sell, seing your wievers as consumers (is that the right word??) but more the Scandinavian introvert (in a good ) way 😀 Love the sound of your voice, you are such a welcome guest while I´m sitting spinning or knitting or anything...... thank you for being you.

As always... Such a beautiful podcast and full of emotion. It was a real honor to be mentioned, I admire you very much ❤️ I was literally talking to you and saying hello as you told us about the project in your hands. I hope you can learn Overlay crochet, like everything in life, it needs practice and love and for any questions I will be there if you need it. I will be looking forward to your next podcast and wish you love, life and joy in your birthday month!

Ahh thank you Yssabett, for your support and for spending some time with the pod today 🙏🏾 it means a lot to me. I'm looking forward to when I can have this beautiful pillow finished and sitting by me. I'm already learning so much from just working your pattern, it will feel like such an achievement. Thank you🙏🏾❤️

Sounds like the the Olympic Peninsula is very like the west of Ireland, what we know as a “thin place.” I very much enjoy your podcast, and I know the challenge of trying to have a podcast length of around 30 minutes....I try for that myself & don’t regularly succeed. Xx Susan

Thank you so much for coming back and watching the pod! I've been meaning to catch up on yours and do believe I'll have an opening to do just that in the next couple of days. And yes, it's quite the feat to keep these podcasts as short as I'd like to. 😄🙏🏾

When is your birthday? I too am a May baby!
