  • For nearly 6 years TinyHouseNC has been a guiding force in the modern tiny house movement. But that was yesterday. Today is today. In fact, I'm done with it. Or am I?

Andrew you were the first inspiration of me building my tiny house. I learned so much from you. I'm eternally thankful for all your information that I have followed since day one of your build. God bless you abundantly for all you have done for the tiny house communities. Much love and respect.

I always figured that family growth meant more tiny houses for a lot. Versus knocking out a wall and adding a room. Just add one more tiny house. One for washing / laundry. One to sleep in. One to cook in. One to game/work in. Perhaps with a common area to hub into, like a space station. Not exactly a typical tiny-vision. Sad to see it go, had I had known how my life would cycle, doing a RV / tiny route could have saved me so much money and hassle. Moving once a year to stay employed, could have been as simple as turning the ignition key. Versus boxes and UHauls and effort. Plus the contracts and setup fees.

Im 35 an when I was younger, about 10 my dad an I tore down an out building in the back yard to build a new one. The whole time my dad was drawing out the plans I was imagining it as my own house and always held on to that idea . Then somewhere around 15 I was able to build my own building next to dad's because I was accumulating my own "junk" and there wasn't enough room for his mine. On the bottom it was pretty much completely open. Double doors on the front with about 6ft walk up ramp. Doors opened out and kinda unhinged to be able to push them down the sides of the building so I could have the doors open and at the same time not take up a whole doors worth of space out into the yard. On the left side I had both of my dirt bikes work bench that folded down on the right and my tool box was sorta built into the wall in the back. In the back I had a folding staircase leading up to a door that would push open into the upstairs that had a window unit heater and air conditioner, mattress on the floor, tv, mini fridge a couch (love seat) with the legs off and sawed in half so I could get up there, sky light windows on the roof. I can't begin to tell you how many nights I spent up there looking at the Stars it was an awesome place to be. It's actually still at my dad's place and probably still has a lot of my junk in there lol
