    Fantastic video tutorials. You stick with the subject and get the job done as well as include all necessary and alternative steps. So many tutorials out there for a variety of subject focus too much on the 'glitzy look at me more than the process' ....so annoying when you are trying to learn something. Thank you for your professionalism! I will be ordering your high quality products so my first attempts can be amazing! Thank you again! Sharlene from SYS

    • @LittleWindowsResin

      Hi Brandi, I'm not sure if you've solved this already, polishing requires a great deal of pressure so be sure you're really putting your weight behind it, if that doesn't work you can try the second technique featured in this video of brushing on a thin topcoat to shine your pieces right up again. • @LittleWindowsResin
      @LittleWindowsResin  Před 3 lety

      Hello Michelle! I'm sorry to hear you had this result, remember it takes quite a bit of pressure while you rub to get a good shine. Beyond that your resin pieces must be completely cured - pieces that are too soft have a hard time being polished, and the type of resin you use can require a different approach. If you'd like me to help you troubleshoot just email a photo or two to fran@little-windows.com and I'll be happy to advise :)

    • @LittleWindowsResin
      @LittleWindowsResin  Před 7 lety +2

      Hello Michelle! I just did a test to see how it would work, and while it does give the polymer clay a bit more luster, it also rubs some of the color/clay off on the polishing cloth, so I'm not sure this is the best option. If you email me at fran@little-windows.com, I'll be happy to send you photos of my results so you can see how it worked. Maybe more extensive testing by a better polymer artist is called for. Question for anyone that has used this method: I am looking to sell my jewellery, will the shine last, or will buyers have to polish regularly to keep it shiny?

    • @LittleWindowsResin
      @LittleWindowsResin  Před 2 lety +1

      Hello JumpinJacks! In this tutorial I'm working with pieces that were either cast in non-shiny molds, or which have gotten scratched up over time. Once polished/recoated, the shine should last unless your customer damages the piece in some way.
      The shine does not rub off, but anything made with resin is vulnerable to scratching, and can also develop a dull surface if harsh chemicals such as perfume, self-tanners, etc, get on the piece and are not cleaned off right away. They can be cleaned with warm water and dish soap, with fingers or a soft piece of wet material if needed.
      I hope that helps :)

    Do you tell clients you are making stuff for that they may need to polish down the line? Especially for jewelry

    • @LittleWindowsResin
      @LittleWindowsResin  Před 2 lety

      Hi Devon! I don't because it usually only happens when the pieces get abraded, scratched up from being in a pocket or packed with sharp things, or if harsh chemicals get on the surfaces.
      I provide a "Caring for your Resin Jewelry" note with everything, which is similar to the way you'd want to treat pearls - last on, first off, be gentle, etc. I hope that's of help :)

    I really like what you did with the resin on the dragonfly 👌🏼💕 Do you make your own molds? Do you make custom molds for others?

    • @LittleWindowsResin
      @LittleWindowsResin  Před 5 lety +1

      Hello Maggie! Thanks so much I love that one too, and any that have a contrast in the shiny/matte texture. I found that mold at an art show, they had the mold and a glass button in the same shape.
      I think they made the mold using the button and silicone putty. Have you tried that before? Have fun creating :) - Fran

    Can you sand the piece with imperfections and then put the polish cream?

    • @LittleWindowsResin
      @LittleWindowsResin  Před rokem

      Yes you can, but you'll need to sand progressively up to about a 1000 grit+ for the polish to work.
      I hope that's of help :)

    So are only certain resins able to do the technique you did at the end, with brushing it on a piece? I ask because I tried this with a resin I got from michaels and the resin would reseed from the edges or bead up when brushed onto another resin piece. And these were flat pieces to boot @_@

    • @LittleWindowsResin

      Hello! Yes, each resin type/formula has different properties, one may be perfect for casting but not work well in thin layers, etc. Our Brilliant Resin is quite versatile, so it's great for casting, doming, layering, and 1-coat varnishing too. If you'd like to send me a photo or two of your project so I can see just what happened, I may be able to provide more detailed insight. You can email fran@little-windows.com Thanks for asking :)

      PBakerJr you want to lightly sand your resin surface with fine grit sandpaper, and wipe it down with isopropyl alcohol. Then I’d apply your second layer of resin

    • @LittleWindowsResin

      Acetone is best, but be sure you're working in fresh air as that's not great to inhale :)

      Depends on the tape you use, but if it does you can use acetone to remove it :)

      Hello Lauren! Yes, all epoxy resins will begin to discolor over time. Our Brilliant Resin is quite resistant to discoloration, so I think you'll be happier with your results. If you have any specific questions or concerns, email me with a photo of your piece and I'll be happy to help :)

    not a true comparison as the tape has left a murky film on the unpolished side. rather obvious

    Is this good if the resin or epoxy is sticky? Will it remove the stickiness?

    • @LittleWindowsResin
      @LittleWindowsResin  Před 2 lety

      Hello Kim, sorry for the delay but no, stickiness is something else all together and trying to polish it will only make things worse. If you would like to send me a photo of your piece and a bit more info about what's going wrong I'll be happy to advise.

    Can you use the Flitz on UV resin? I had to sand a little bit where the resin spilled and now that area isn't as glossy/shiny as the rest.

    • @LittleWindowsResin
      @LittleWindowsResin  Před rokem

      Hello Valerie, sorry for the late reply. You can test it out but I've found it works best on epoxy resin. It'll depend on the hardness of the cured UV, which varies by brand. I hope you find a solution to save your piece :)
