I just got into crafting using UV resin and I love how simple it is to make these beautiful gems! I might try making earrings! And if I may suggest, put washi tape on a bottle cap and stick your gem on there so that when you color, the marker doesn't get on you. Thank you for the great tutorial and giveaway!

Once the mylar is mixed with the resin and in the mold, I use a straw to gently blow into it. My breath is warm enough to 1) warm the resin so its more blended naturally, 2) helps to bring any bubbles to the top, and 3) it melds the mylar flakes better into the resin. When blowing into the straw, the resin will look slightly cloudy as it warms from my breath, but will clear up like crystal within seconds. Using a straw works well for me so I thought you might like to try it for yourself. :)

I learned from you that to make UV resin pieces, one must use a clear mold, not the opaque silicone mold. I didn't know that. I'm so new to this, I haven't even made my first project yet; I am quietly garnering as much knowledge as I can before I start buying supplies and giving it all a try. Thank you so much! Love how your faux opal stones turned out!
