Chrigel states about the song 'Epona':
"Epona per se is a notable goddess within the celtic pantheon.
Her worship was widely spread all over the Celtic world in the antiquity and is evidenced by more than 60 votive inscriptions from all over Europe.
Furthermore she is one of the few - if not the only - Celtic deities to be assimilated with roman culture later on and with time also seized an important role in roman religion, being ultimately worshipped in Rome itself.
Epona's name derives from the gaulish word for „horse“ (epos). She's the goddess of horses and protector of their well-being, health and so on.
Yet Epona is also regarded as mother goddess, goddess of wellfare, fertility and health in general. Her status within the Celtic pantheon must have been quite prominent. Ancient inscriptions often add the title „Rigani“ to her name - which means „queen“.
One needs to consider the role of horses in the Celtic society to understand the role and importance of Epona; due to the important role of the horse, Epona was crucial in trade, supply, agriculture, war, and so on!
Nevertheless her appearance seems to have been rather humble (as it actually is common for Celtic deities). She originally did not inhabit impressive temples or similar, but was rather revered in the great outdoors and well... stables. And while gods of similar importance received animals as sacrifices in other cultures, the Celtic Epona was rather offered fresh cut roses and rose petals.
This fact is even reflected in ancient roman literature - as diverse roman authors and satirists, such as Apuleius, mention small images of Epona in stables and barns and mock her „worship in sickening stables“, as Juvenal writes.
All this is what this song deals with. In short words - it is a prayer offered to the celtic goddess queen!
The song musically also expresses the driving character and dashes like galloping horses."

Gotta say I'm surprised, I thought everyone in the comments would be whining that it's not Eluveitie without Anna. Don't get me wrong I LOVE Anna but I think this new vocalist is doing a great job at holding her own as the new singer. I dig the new song.

Fabienne is good singer but Evacation II must be acoustic folk that is sad for me because I like more their metal songs. However I like Omnos, Brictom from Evocation I:)
After listening to the departed from the band and listening to this, immediately realized who was the heart of the band
To me its like Dragonforce. New singer is good but in a different way. The current lineup of Eluveitie will not be the same without Anna, Merlin and Ivo. But it doesn't mean it won't be good either.

@@joannajett2524 yes there were many dialects but you can regroup all of them under the name gaulish because they could understand each other. A little bit like british english and American english or Australian english nowdays.

I love the lyrics (and the music too). When you are interested in linguistic and see this text and the parallels to other languages like Latin (mater, rigani (regina) etc.), modern German (reidonti (reiten), roudoblatouon (rote Blätter) etc.) and others, then this is really beautiful hearing this old Gallic actually spoken or sung.
In spite of being enemies, both, romans and gauls, represent part of the synthesis of the following european culture and its rich heritage.
Honestly im not sad cuz Ana left, Cellar Darling is amazing and Eluveitie still great. Now we have 2 good bands

I have to admit, when Merlin Ivo and Anna left I was afraid Eluveitie was going to fall apart. This band is amazing and truly means alot to me so when I saw this video I could not click play fast enough and, in my opinion, its safe to say, you guys have fucking nailed it again. Singer is way beautiful and I absolutely love her voice. Eluveitie you guys are awesome and I cant wait to hear the entire album
That's a proof against everyone talking shit about the new vocalist. It's true her performance wasn't the best on the previous tour but joining a band in the middle of the tour to sing songs that weren't written for you is never easy. People should understand that she didn't had enough time to prepare the old songs. Now she shows that she is a great vocalist and I'm sure she will rock on the new and future albums and shows.

I'm positively surprised by the historically accurate clothings and weaponry of the warriors, both celts and romans. Nice to see that in a music video :)

I don't think there are any Romans in the video. It seems to just be celts fighting eachother. (But the clothing and weaponry is very well chosen indeed)
The main focused on dude is wearing a set of Roman armor, lorica hamata, but it could simply be something he or his dad or grandfather took from a dead or captured Roman. The helmet looks like a kettle hat from 1000 years later though and is actually the only thing that looks out of place.
Not Roman! All armors are Gaulish! Actually, chainmail is believed to be a Celtic invention, which Romans copied in the form of lorica hamata. And they used helmets like that one, for example, the helmet of Louviers.
Only the horses tack is not accurate, english modern saddle, modern bridle as well... the horses breed itself is not accurate either, gaulish horses were much smaller and heavier that this, almost like ponies

For those who dont know; *Epona is the Goddess of Horses* for the Celts. It was Worshipped in Northern Italy, Iberia, Helvetia and much of Gaul. Later it was adopted by the Roman Legions of the Cavalry.

That was my reaction to finding Nightwish about 10 years ago (and Epica!) just before Tarja left the band.
I'm not the biggest fan of Nuclear Blast, but they were my gateway to some pretty killer music you don't hear on the radio stateside, so I'm grateful to them for at least that much.

It's Gaulish, it was spoken by the continental Celts that lived in Western Europe, their language and culture was lost with roman occupation.

There are a few vids here on CZcams teaching the language so ya it's not just for songs, No doubt there are online communities for the Gaulish language as well.

No not all are new: Kay Brem since 2008 (Bass), Rafael Salzmann since 2012 (Guitar), Matteo Sisti since 2014 (Tin & Low Whistles and Bagpipes) and Nicole Ansperger (
Violin, cello) was from 2013-2015. :D
But the band since 2002.And only Chrigel is in the band since 2002.Other members from the very beginning are left the band including Sevan Kirder,Meri Tadic,Yves Tribelhorn,Dani Furer,Gian Albertin,Dide Marfurt,Mattu Ackerman,Dario Hofstetter and Philipp Reinmann.These members was in the band from the very beginning(2003).
Yeah did you notice that Chringel was the only founder Member xD So everyone came "new" to the band xD
