    It’s actually larger than I thought it would be. And it is supposed to have better quality components than the 1ups. Plus it plays evercade carts. I think the $200 mark is going to be fair, but $150 would have been the sweet spot.

    Inspired by your awesome Freakade I picked up a 15.6" portable monitor with built in speakers, placed it on a crate with my Evercade VS underneath, hooked up to my modified arcade stick with Sanwa components and now I have my very own Jaycade Alpha :-) Keep up the awesome work and thanks again for the inspiration!

    Nice one Game Freak! This was a good move as I've seen people say, "it will be a good display item on a shelf" like wft? They must be thinking it's the size of a Micro Player or something. I've never seen anyone put a 14" portable CRT TV on a shelf so good luck with that lol. 😃
    I did the honours and got a deluxe Street Fighter on pre-order, with 100's of games on carts to mess with those controls need to last. UK homes are tiny so this size is more suited but I wish the screen was bigger. Cheers Game Freak! 👍

    Thank you for making this video man. I seriously do also hope that people buy these, but I hope that videos like this will help them know what they're getting into for that price, rather than possibly giving it a bad review after they pick one up thinking that it was larger. I think that another model with a better choice of 1 player titles and an HDMI out so that you could hook it up to a TV, plug in some controllers or arcade sticks and play it like a VS system could really be pretty awesome. I just feel like if they're already going for over $200, that the little bit of added cost for an HDMI out would have been worth it for the people already set on spending that much $ purchasing these.

      No problem brother! I hope these still sell well. That money will help get bigger license agreements. In return, that will mean bigger and better games on carts.

  • @jmatt781
    @jmatt781 Před měsícem +1

    Dude, that's crazy! I've seen a lot of people saying that they're going to order one of the Alpha's for a more "Authentic arcade experience", but I couldn't imagine having a serious 2 player Street Fighter match on that little thing. Maybe you could get away with it and have some fun with one of the 2 player beat em ups on the Mega Man cabinet. If I was to buy one, I'd get the Mega Man, but it's definitely not worth the money for me since I already have a VS system. Yeah, it will look cool as hell on a shelf, but so will my Bad Dudes mini arcade that I just bought off Five Below for only $20.

    Price seems a lil high but isn't bad when you compare it to the A1up countercades. Those launched around $200+. Also consider the fact that the Alpha plays evercade carts so the library is gonna be nice. I haven't pre ordered one but idk I might.

  • @ObsidianContraption
    @ObsidianContraption Před měsícem +3

    They're all too small for me. I would totally get into the Evercade ecosystem if they made at least a 3/4 home arcade size. Then i would probably get that and the other systems

  • @aqlandmirrorvideogamerandc2983

    Thanks for doing this video man. I still want to try to get the Alpha if I can. But it does make me think about it more. But if I can't get one. I'm not going to worry about it. Great video.

    I've on the fence for this, but after seeing how big it's actually going to be, I'm real hesitant now.
    The only draw for me would be the cartridge slots....but I don't know now.
    This shit seems a bit too small for $230+ tax.

    Thanks for this informative video. The size comparison to your Ms. Pac-Man bartop really shows us what to expect for these Alpha units.
    I have the Evercade Vs., the OG handheld, and both Super Pockets, but $200+ for this bartop is just a tad out of my price range. Cut the cost in half and then I might bite.

    Thanks for the video. It's helpful to see an actual object to get a better sense and yeah, that's pretty much spot on. I still can't believe they didn't include an HDMI out and that you your only option is to play on that screen. Aren't arcade games meant to be played with friends and isn't multiplayer and important component? Yet we have all these good Capcom games that you can't play on your VS.

    Have you used the 8bitdo arcade stick? I'm thinking about maybe getting one for my VS, I also love that it comes with a plug in bluetooth dongle, to work wirelessly on an Evercade. I just wonder how well the buttons feel on it.

    • @GameFreak1976
      @GameFreak1976  Před měsícem +1

      I almost went with that arcade stick, but went with the Mayflash F300 on my Freakade instead. I also switched out the buttons and replaced them with purple Sanwa buttons and stick topper to match the cabinet. I’ve heard good things about the 8bitdo, but never used one before.

      😂😂😂😂, I 100% agree! The size doesn’t match the price. I built a full size arcade cabinet (which plays evercade carts), for less. And that’s including the cost of the VS and Arcade stick I built into it.😂 I hope it sells well for Evercades sake, but I can’t see a majority of Evercade fans paying for this.

    I preordered the mega man one with better controls. Cos I want it to last. Agreed if it only had the six games I wouldn't be interested, but the fact it can put my carts in, and the Namco ones work on it, was the deciding factor. Cheers for the dimensions etc that has definitely helped me visualise it better 😁

      Way better than a 1up countercade. They should be a bit more. I did buy the deluxe Megaman.. I think it’s a bit high, but I wanted to go all in. I think 225 is fine if that was the total price because of the carts etc.

      @@stepsgaming, I hope they’re better….but we won’t really know until they are released and played on. I hope they sell well so it brings in more revenue. The Alpha seems like a great option for those that don’t want something to take up so much space👍

      They are calling it an EXP-R in a box so the Namco carts to work. To me it's still a VS though with it's 2 cart slots. Final Fight and Street Fighters on the big screen would of been cool for 2 player. I guess we can do that on modern consoles but the emulation is a bit meh on Capcom Stadium, feels very heavy and EXP does a better job with the same games.

    • @XmasTablet
      @XmasTablet Před měsícem

      Exactly, it's like Blaze ran out if HDMI ports for the Evercade Alpha & the Evercade EXP-R e tard ED edition 🤣😂
      Better experience to play via Evercade VS on a big TV, and forget about the 6 x 2 built in games in the Alpha's (not the best 12 games tbh anyway, u can play em on Fightcade instead & online)
      Evercade Alpha is gonna just be for the hard core collectors. I'll wait for it to be on discount as not worth it. Evercade EXP had 18 built in games, plus Irem Arcade 1 cartridges (6 games) for God sake 😅😁😎😙

    At first I considered getting one till I factored the size, the price their going to charge and funny they never mentioned anything about a shipping charge ? This would push this into the $300 range and it just doesn't add up to me ? And I thought Blaze created Evercade to be affordable for those who wanted to get into retro gaming ? I don't really care for the preloaded games their offering and think they could of left those off and sold the mini arcade as is. Even better if they would have sold them in kit form and allow the buyer to choose either standard or upgraded hardware in their purchase. Could of bought the price down even more if the made them to run off of the VS much in the way you created your arcade cabinet . And knowing Blazes win/loss record of things breaking down, overheating & bricking up with having parts on hand would of allowed the user to fix their mini arcades when the need arises. As it stands now if these mini arcades break down how is Blaze going to deal with that ? You know its going to happen sooner or later so will those be stuck with paper weights when it happens ?????

    • @GameFreak1976

      Very good point! I still think it could have been priced between $150-$175 and been successful and profitable. My VS powers my Freakade (which is a full size cabinet). Even with buying the lumber and TV monitor, I spent under $225. The price just seems steep in my opinion. But I totally understand what you’re saying 👍

    I will wait til it's on discount, cos I know alot people aren't gonna purchase this just to play 6 games on a small screen. They will rather play on a big monitor/tv instead, or online on Fightcade.

      That’s because screen sizes are always listed in inches everywhere on the planet. I live in Sweden and we use the metric system for everything except TV screen dimensions which are listed in inches.
      How inches became the worldwide default standard for screen sizes in unbeknownst to me, but it is. 🤷‍♂️
