Many connect dex via USB-A to USB-C / USB-C to USB-C/ wireless(works well on latest phone but not on older phones)thats why they are seeing performance drop + they do it without power connection to the phone.
It's highly recommended to use USB-C to HDMI/Display Port or Type-C Thunderbolt Cables if it works with smartphone.
These three cables have high data transfer speed so you won't notice performance drops/ frame drops.
Finally don't forget to add powersupply either via most possible way or via Dock. Also if you add a table fan/smartphone cooler it would be nice if you are playing games

if you run your phone in desktop mode [or dex mode for samsung users] and you own or buy an old wacom tablet.. intuos or bamboo you can start drawing painting designing.

penpressure works and using apps like medibang, infinite painter or even krita (full pc version) for android you can start being an artist without forking out big money for a computer/laptop.

I have a Note 10, and used Dex while my pc was out of commission. It can handle multiple programs running at the same time, BUT it is not a desk top system, if you try to run multiple heavy programs at the same time, it will hit the system a lot faster than even a cheap pc. Phones just aren't as good at multi tasking.
When I say heavy programs, I mean Watching a 4k movie while playing 3d games and using a torrent downloader in the back ground, or something like that. I have burdened my phone before.
