      I hope none of my opponents are listening to this. NONE!
      This is now a dream for me to attend. I am 3.5 at best.

      Great work! Do you have a video where you thoroughly go over which types of grips are ideal for which shots or mention what is common among pros?
      I sit in continental at the net to be ready for speed ups to either side, but for most shots where there's time I switch between a mild eastern forehand and mild eastern backhand but I'm wondering if I should simplify to continental more often.

    Attended in Feb - not only were his critiques spot on and instructive, but Jordan’s engaging instruction made the two days lots of fun as well - great value!

    I’m am absolutely ready for a montage of Will saying “I’m about to F*** S*** up”, and then a ton of clips of him dumping balls into the net 😂

    I made it to the kitchen even with a torn meniscus. Be careful my dudes, don't addictively play nonstop until something breaks. Great content!
    I feel like Chris where I've still been improving consistently and haven't felt that urge to seek out a coaching because I always saw those videos of them just demonstrating concepts to the group but this format sounds amazing and makes me want to potentially plan a trip in the future!

  • @Mr.DJones
    @Mr.DJones Před rokem +2

    Great fun and good information. I took a two-hour class from Jordan a while back. It was good, but I can see how this new two day format of teaching is so much better. It's expensive, but worth it if you really love the game, want to get better, and, have the money.

  • @HardyHarz
    @HardyHarz Před rokem +2

    Chris, a good hack when your lower back acts up like that - hang from a pull up bar (or anything you can hang from) and just relax and let your back decompress. It works REALLY well when you’ve got something out of whack, or after sitting for a long time at work, etc.

  • @DavidSchilter
    @DavidSchilter Před rokem +3

    Nice one! Will's comment about his younger self trying to go from defense to offense too soon resonated with me. It's not impossible but indeed a very low % strategy. I'm gonna try to build points rather than go for glory on every shot and miss most of them :)

  • @El_Guap
    @El_Guap Před rokem +1

    The decision to anticipate and decide to step back, bounce, and attack… vs a bad take it out of the air reaching volley is something I find I struggle with when I am playing poorly and have to think about and something I don’t even need to think about when I am playing well. Being more intentional about that strategic decision is tough but super key jump in skill. I wish there was a perfect mental algorithm to decide this

    Why did the training take place in CO?

  • @brianbanks3044
    @brianbanks3044 Před rokem

    at my level and the competition I play with, there is more dinking in warmups than we will see in the whole 2-3 hour session...it seems like speed up and drives are top priority on everybody's mind....sure there are nice winners but most points last 3-5 hits at most and most points result in balls into net or hit out of bounds...my motto is to "Keep the ball in Play" but it just doesn't translate at the levels that i compete....great video guy, my 3 favorite you tubers

    Great Conversation!! Having Jordan (A Coach) on your program, has made this the best one yet. (For what to learn on the court) Would like to complement what was said by both Chris & Will, you said that Jordan does not like to change how you play, for the sack of change. That is the best compliment a coach can hear from his athletes. I've coached baseball for many years. Started playing Pickleball about 7months ago. What a great sport. Where can I follow Jordan as well? Thank you. - T Mo

  • @Thejoeb
    @Thejoeb Před rokem

    Wish I could afford the intensive! Unfortunately what could be helped along in 2 days with proper funding may take me years to get to the same point... I imagine the money is well spent if you want to improve quickly and not stall out at 4.5 forever on your path to 5.0

      What Will said.
      However, if you've watched my channel for any amount of time, you know I don't sugar coat anything. If it wasn't good, I would say it. Plenty of reviews and other opinions on my channel should make that very clear.
      Also neither of us were paid to make a review on this.

      @spencerfisher4080 Před rokem +2

      I’m sure they get free paddles too. If you look up any decent sized review channel, they got it for free. Chris has been VERY honest about several overpriced big name paddles. I wouldn’t entirely discount something just for that

    Is it bad to play pickleball with a semi-western grip?
    Also, do pros usually switch their grips in the middle of a point?

    • @PickleballStudio
      @PickleballStudio  Před rokem

      Semi western can be very hard to do certain shots from. It’ll limit your options slightly. It can work though. Riley Newman is something near semi western.
      Some pros switch grips mid point.

    • @coolnesskiwi555
      @coolnesskiwi555 Před rokem

      @@PickleballStudio thank you!! That is good to know. Yes it does seem harder to hit good back hand volleys because sometimes it makes the ball pop up. Do you think it’s worth switching to a eastern/continental grip even though I’ve been using semi western for awhile now?

    Probably unpopular opinion, but I think clinics are a total waste of hard-earned money. There's no way you can walk out a significantly better player after just a few hours. The concepts might be shown, but it takes dozens of hours of focused games and repetition to really drill those concepts home. And I think it especially rings true when you're 4.0+ attending these clinics...it's really diminishing returns the higher up you are.
    Get yourself a good paddle, go to your local courts, and force yourself into groups that are clearly better than you. Get advice from them as you play and emulate their shots and strategy.

    • @kylepickleball
      @kylepickleball Před rokem

      I think it depends on the type of clinic and the skill set of the instructor. Being able to play pickleball at high level doesn't mean you can teach it at high levels. I'd be interested in a 4.0/4.5 camp like this to identify areas I need to work on, pick up on strategies to incorporate into my game, and get some feedback from the instructor. But for me that's a waste of money if I'm not going to go home and start adding what I learned into my drill routine, game play, etc.
