100%. Reminds me of this idea of players hating on other players for "only playing fast/bangers". If you can't handle or counter bangers, you're probably just not at the level of whoever you're playing against.
In every sport everyone is taught this, "you can move forward WAY faster than you can move backwards". you have to play to the disadvantages of human anatomy.
Counter is when you attack a drive by your opponent. Blocking/resetting would just be dropping it back into the kitchen. Basically if you can anticipate their attack you can send the shot back really fast giving them very little time to react.
Im tired of being told by "purist" pickleball players that I cannot play this sport like its tennis even though they cant beat through my drives or force me into a dink match
I disagree with the recommendation of putting lead tape on a paddle. A player should be able to find a paddle that matches their style of play without having to do any modifications.
here's my opinion: a default paddle's characteristics are a bell curve - they arent perfect for the bottom or top X% of that curve. Those people need to keep looking for a different paddle or tweak as needed to get it playing like what they need. For these people, there just may not exist a paddle right for them so tweaking is needed. Some could just go to a diff paddle though...but if all they need is a simple lead tape tweak to get perfection, so be it. Everyone is different.
@@zeruth467 I have built 1000’s of paddles while working for Paddletek and sold over 200 paddles. Paddles aren’t designed to have added weight. Lead tape can create tennis elbow long term.
@@RussellWardthis is terrible advice. If paddle companies want us to stop using lead tape, then they should make their paddles properly waited out of the box. The vast majority of paddles need lead tape at the throat for stability. If it’s supposed to work out of the box, then the paddle company should be making the paddle that way.
@@douglasmurdoch7247 What? Paddles NEVER need lead tape. Simply find a paddle that fits your style of play and you are good to go. Lead tape on a paddle is a myth and a worthless idea.

I teach this because a vast majority of 3.0s move backwards instead of giving themselves room.
A 3.0 with a good 3rd shot will force their opponents to make so many errors.
Agree The soft hand block into the kitchen is lose, keep em back
So I'm probably 3.0 and have no idea what is meant by counter? Are we just talking about block shots?

Volley like in tennis. Cut the trajectory. NOT lifting volleys 🙄

Yea “counter reset” it should be called
3rd shot drop every time!!
There's a time and place for 3rd shot drops.....it's not every time!

That’s a very ignorantly costly mindset to have lol. Once you understand lead tape- then you know why that is lol
