- C50 build part 1! We have to start somewhere, so we start by dragging the old camper into town so we can salvage all the parts we'll need for the build. It proves to provide some hidden treasures we weren't aware of as well!

Nice to see the build started. Hopefully you can get some work in and another video done by Wednesday when we get out of the negative whatever degree wind Chills. Maybe just go with the propane stove idea if its still 20 below out, lol. Also reminded me somewhere I still have my Budweiser beer school master certificate from St Louis earned in the 90s. Awww memories!

Those roof AC units are pretty easy to check out and work on.
They are self contained and work off of 110 vac.
The unit covers are probably hardened by the sun so they crack and will not hold up to highway speed, but they are mostly for looks.
The roof vent covers if made of plastic will not last like a tin or aluminum cover.
Some vents have a small 110 vac motor in them for a fan.
Some coaches just have them in the bathroom.
That Onan Gen Set is designed to run both AC units at the same time on a 50 amp circuit.
The fridge is a three way, it will work on 110 vac, 12 vdc and propane.
Using the 12 vdc will kill your vehicle battery in a hurry if there is no working charging system, so it is best to keep it on 110 vac or propane if you use it when parked.
The coolant in the unit is a mix of aqua and anhydrous ammonia like is used in giant cold storage facilities and super markets thus you know if it leaks.
Yes the donuts were a bit lame, but kids will play when they can, even us big kids !

It's to late for the AC units. LOL I'm excited to get the gen old Owan running I think it's going to be great for a bus/RV build down the line. Stay warm my friend!

Just went back and watched the new shop building tour when you first got it. I think it would be cool to find brewery/pub that wanted to use some of the unused space.
That would be cool but I plan on filling it. So there will be no unused space.

Wow, this is going to be awesome! We have a RV chassis with 454 leftover from a renter in the lot and my old man has a C50 cab and I want to build it so bad! So excited to see what you guys do with this one for some pointers in my future build!!

They didn't have a charge so they will never work now for sure! LOL

I appreciate you building a new project, but got to say sad that you d tear up the motor home... It is classic and some people dream is restore things like that and get them back on the road... Besides I was on another choice of the 4 projects... So C50 wasn't my pick
If at least salvaging the interior, windows and trims at least... But at least dont just flatten it and pull chassis clean if you could... Guess it was someone's home one day
Between the smell the damage to the roof that caused it to be totaled in the first place and the fact that it was basically a bar on wheels for who knows how many years there isn't much to be sad about losing.
