My kids (10 and 8) love Empire of the Clouds. They started playing Maiden on their guitars recently and have fallen in love with the band. They've even convinced my formerly prissy wife to start listening to the band. They stayed up till 11:45 last night with my wife watching a documentary on the R-101. I can't believe that Maiden has an 18 minute song that inspired my little kids to watch a history documentary rather than playing football or juggling as they usually do. Yet another reason to love this band!
Reminds me when I was about 7 1/2 and my older siblings started listening to Iron Maiden. My first album I really loved was A Matter of Life and Death.. The thrill excitement of the song The Longest Day got my interested in the Normandy Landing.... I would stay up late watching D-day documentaries.. Empire of the cloud made me relive my early years as a child once again :).
Awesome! I had a similar experience when I was 9 with Piece of Mind. Iron Maiden got me into history and I went back and eventually got my PhD after my JD because I loved history so much. I am now turning my dissertation into a book, and I am going to quote Revelations in my preface. I also got really into World War II history after listening to Aces High as a kid.
+Михаил Владимиров Yes it's a very intense song, but the reality of war itself is intense.. The song longest day makes you feel like a bystander watching the horror of the Normandy landing in front of you.. This is why Iron Maiden is by far the best band in history..
I appreciate the initiative of Bruce playing piano on Empire. I love this guy to death and have an immense respect for him but as a piano player, he's pretty terrible but he admit's it himself. But you can actually hear it on Empire. His playing is quite monotonous thought beautiful. He never played with softer moments or delicacies... But whatever, the song is still pretty beautiful.
Apart from some weird accents in the intro, he did a nice job. Of course one shouldn't expect control of the dynamics since he's self taught and a starter, but what really stands out is the composition. It may be simple, but it is beautiful indeed
the fuck are you saying? ''as a piano player he's pretty terrible'' ''his playing is quite monotonous though beautiful''. terrible and monotonous are the opposites of beautiful. learn how to write comments
I love Maiden. I love Bruce. I love "Empire of the Clouds." This all said, if you got a sense of humor, and if you love Spinal Tap, this is Bruce's "Lick My Love Pump" moment.
Oh, my gosh, this is a gem! What was the package deal fo the fans? A flight, a concert, a meet and greet at the studio where the album was recorded? That is just soooo much and awesome! Did you sneak in that room or was there a time limit? Bruce was saying the piano bit was Jon Lord? Ahh, very cool tribute
Nice share! Thank-you! In the future, please hold your phone sideways while recording video. My computer screen, and u-tube broadcasts are 16:9, not 9:16.
As much as I love Maiden, I don't see why everyone is like "OMG, PIANO, SO CLASSICALLLL". That's the sort of shit I play on a piano when I'm fucking around. I don't even play piano, just know my way around it from music theory. Not knocking the songwriting though, that's top notch as always from Maiden.
Ambidexterity and multitasking ability are the types of things that piano and drums strongly encourage. But people who do that shit are usually the masters, and are mostly only found in classical and jazz. And of course, I understand that the old classical composers were very often left-handed. But I mention this because I myself tend to play piano this way, with my right hand doing the gymnastics while the left hand simply mashes on chords. That strongly suggests a right-handed person who is bad at multitasking. Although I understand that there are either/or types, who can use either hand, but can't multitask well. I know there are articles on this sort of thing.
Incredibly overrated band. I mean, seriously, why are they the recipients of such endless praise and worship? What I just heard him play was ok, but what is it about them that is supposed to be so damn incredible? They're OK.
+NOT GIVEN NOYB NO. Iron maiden is a perfect band. The beatles are a extremly overrated band. Also, if you judge a band for the singer's piano ability, you are a perfect idiot
+NOT GIVEN NOYB Bruce picked up the piano a couple years ago, I think he said something like 2013? and never took any form of lessons, the guy is a vocalist. He says himself that he is a rubbish pianist. They are a great band, they write great music, and they set the foundation for almost any form of metal today. If this clip of the band's lead singer playing piano is what sways you off of a metal band...I dont think you understand how piano skill has nothing to do with vocal capabilities...thats like saying Jimi Hendrix is terrible on drums, hes a rubbish guitarist.

+LilMessaldo awesome to see that Maiden is still inspiring people old and young on history.. and hope this is not the last we hear from them..

+LilMessaldo Your kids are great.
Imagine they played Empire of the Clouds with a full orchestra.
If Metallica did it, Maiden can, an orchestra concert would be astral projecting
0:16 that part sounds so beautiful on piano
This Genius of Metal music...
Bruce just became Freddie Mercury
He doesn't have his vocal range
I was referring to the piano :-)
+Svil Buscus And he doesn't take it up the ass either.
losferword Absolutely. UP THE IRONS.
+Svil Buscus I'm pretty sure they do have very similar vocal ranges actually.
Amazing studio footage! It's really cool seeing Bruce on the piano! Amazing song. :)
Legend and genius
Literally! He has an IQ of 167, thats higher than einstein!
@@Bruh-bx9mh Einsten was 170. Right?
@@celioazevedoofficial I meant to write he qualifies as an actual genius, yes that's correct. I don't know how I accidentally wrote about Einstein.
@@Bruh-bx9mh Mine is around 170, but Bruce is much more talented.
@@celioazevedoofficial Einstein was 160
Now I know why they will not play that live. But video is amazing! :)
hahaha true
а там разве вокальная партия идет не отдельно от фортепианной?
надо же, не замечала. Но, в живом выступлении можно сделать.
They're going to play it live now.
A beautifully sad song.

@@pauloviniciosappelt9789 I know it's a joke obviously the shame
@@pauloviniciosappelt9789 They dont need whole orchestra 1piano 2violins and maybe 1 cello

He's been playing the piano only for a few years and he's self taught.

+David Hazel You are so lucky beacuse you seen Bruce play on piano :)
+David Hazel Haha, can't blame CZcams for this one- You put them there by holding the phone upright ;)
He also owns the 2nd largest piano company in Europe. The guy is quite a businessman. Just kidding. I just made that up. Love you Bruce.
simplemente un maestro.

Someone is suffering from vertical video syndrome. Does your TV stand on end?
+taint spray I sincerely doubt that you held your phone on its side to make it end up like this.
***** You should check the video settings in your camera if that's in fact true.

At least now I know whe they've used digital piano on the CD. And I thought I was a shitty pianist.
